Chapter 103: Chapter 71: Elvire’s Identity

Sean was surprised an old man like Adelf could be so spontaneous.

He’d changed the scheduled conference date just like that.

’I’m not ready yet!’

So Sean whispered a stern reminder to Kate: "Don’t disrupt Lord Blake’s plans."

’We agreed on next week, and that’s just a few days away. A mature Wizard should be calm and steady. Besides, what if Lord Blake has other things to do in the meantime?’

’Attending the conference would disrupt his own schedule, but not attending would mean breaking his word. Isn’t that putting Lord Blake in a difficult position?’

Kate quickly understood and nodded gravely. "You’re right."

’I can’t get carried away.’

’Doing this makes it seem like we’re forcing Lord Blake to attend the conference, which is very rude.’

Last time, his teacher had told him not to get too excited. This time, it was his turn to reason with his teacher. Kate said to Adelf, "Teacher, let’s not change the time after all. We shouldn’t make things difficult for Lord Blake." free𝑤ebnovel.com

"...That’s true." Adelf realized he had been impulsive. He cast an Ice Cone Skill on himself to cool down quickly and said, "Alright then. We won’t change the day, just the time."

"Just the time?"

"The conference originally scheduled for 7 PM will be moved to 10 AM."

Kate: "..."

Sean: "..."

’So a small change doesn’t count as a change, is that it?’

Adelf sighed. "I can’t help it. I just miss Lord Blake so much. Kate, you of all people should understand how I feel."

Of course Kate understood; he couldn’t possibly understand more. If Sean hadn’t reminded him it was inappropriate, he would have even wanted to combine his teacher’s two suggestions and make it 10 AM tomorrow. No one in the world wanted to see Lord Blake sooner than he did.

’It has nothing to do with getting to the 3rd Floor of the Holy Hall. He just really revered Lord Blake and was eager to take on missions.’

The master and student exchanged a few more words and decided not to tell anyone else for the time being. They would wait until the Day of Abstinence celebration to give everyone a surprise.

And if—just if—Lord Blake didn’t show up, it would save everyone from getting their hopes up for nothing.

After hanging up, Adelf got out of bed to start preparing for the conference.

It was still early, and he could have slept for at least a few more hours. Ample sleep was very important for an old man, but Adelf didn’t want to sleep anymore. He felt he wouldn’t be able to anyway. Lord Blake himself had actually contacted them tonight. For something this momentous, the fact that he hadn’t dragged his wife out of bed to dance with him was already a sign of great restraint.

You could see the stars at night in Alola Town. Adelf, dressed in his robe, walked to the window with his cane and looked up at the beautiful starry sky. And through that starry sky, he seemed to see Blake’s faint yet familiar face, his old but resolute eyes filled with anticipation and profound emotion.

’Lord Blake has returned. Can the Era of Polymath be far behind?’

"ACHOO."

Back at the pizza shop, Sean sneezed again.

"Hey kid, you catching a cold?" Kate asked.

"Wrong. It just means someone’s thinking of me," Sean said.

Kate rolled his eyes. ’More like someone’s cursing you,’ he thought.

With his vast life experience and sharp eyes, even without paying close attention, he could tell the relationship between Sean and Elvire was complicated.

Several times tonight, Elvire had looked like she wanted to talk to Sean, but she always stopped herself.

Sean was the same way. His eyes kept darting toward Elvire, but he never made a move to go talk to her.

Obviously, there was some kind of problem between them.

’Knowing Elvire, the girl is probably thinking, ’Why hasn’t that damned guy come to apologize to me yet?’ and then cursing Sean a hundred times in her head just to let off some steam.’

In truth, Sean might not have been at fault, and neither was Elvire. All they wanted was a sign from the other.

Kate hadn’t interacted with Sean much, so he hadn’t quite figured out his personality yet. But Elvire would most likely never approach Sean first. As a former direct member of the Blazing Angel Family, the pride in Elvire’s heart was no less than that of a certain old codger. If you didn’t believe it, just ask the other Wizards who had tried to hit on the girl if any of them had ever gotten her contact information.

Sean, however, seemed to refuse to believe it and pulled out his phone to check again.

But there was still no text from Elvire.

He figured his phone must be broken and decided to get a new one when he had time.

They were about done with their late-night snack. Kate was about to call the owner over to clear the table, but as he stood up, he suddenly remembered something else.

"By the way, do you know about the theft at the 3rd Floor of the Holy Hall’s library?"

"Yeah, I know."

Sean asked, "What about it?"

He looked as if it had nothing to do with him.

But Kate’s next words quickly made him realize he was inextricably linked to the matter.

"Since Lord Blake has awakened, he must know who stole the book," Kate said.

Within the Holy Sanctuary, nothing could be hidden from Lord Blake.

"Besides, Lord Blake appeared this time to tell everyone how to enter the upper levels. This suggests he most likely already knows the Ancient Language Skill was taken. Even if he didn’t witness it himself, he must know where that person put the book. Working backward from there, the Dawn Council could easily find out the person’s true identity."

Sean: "..."

’A careless mistake.’

’I forgot that Lord Blake is omnipotent.’

’There’s no way to get out of this. To do so would be to undermine my own authority—’

’If I can’t even watch over my own territory, how can I claim to be so powerful?’

’It would only make people think I’ve gotten old and lost my touch.’

Sean didn’t doubt the Dawn Council’s capabilities. Once they had a clue, it was only a matter of time before they traced it back to him.
