Chapter 126: Princeton
Not only Yu Wen, but the man from Helion was also confused. He looked at Yu Wen, his eyes bloodshot, and yelled, "Are you trying to act smart? Don’t you know what is at risk?!" He grabbed Theo, and the little boy was so terrified that he burst into tears.
Large plasma cannons shot specific targets on the mountain range. This air strike wasn’t ordered by Yu Wen and Red Valkyrie. He would never risk an air strike now. Everyone had agreed that it wasn’t a feasible plan, considering that they risked killing the hostages they were planning to save.
So, whoever orchestrated this attack couldn’t be one of his. "It’s not my team. Now, let’s do as agreed, and you take me as a hostage instead. I am more valuable to you than the kid," he said, but the man gripped Theo’s shoulder tightly, his fingers digging into his bone, so much so that the kid winced, his entire body trembling.
"Why? Why should I take you hostage?" the man replied, his expression becoming even more demented as he spoke. He let out an unsettling laugh and said, "Why not just kill the leader of Red Valkyrie right here?"
Yu Wen could tell from the look in his eyes that he had made up his mind. He was going to blow them up right then and there. He drew his plasma gun, but before he even got it out of his holster, the man’s head was blown to pieces, with chunks of brain matter and bone fragments scattering all over. Not only he but the people he came with were instantly killed as well.
Theo was covered in it, and the blood had soaked through his clothes. He stood there with a frozen and ashen face. Yu Wen rushed over and grabbed him. He picked up the little boy and handed him over to one of his men.
"Do we have any updates?" he asked, and Alex’s voice came through the comms.
"It’s Blood Wing." Blood Wing was what these ghosts were called. They were rarely seen, and they operated at Draco’s command. Rumor had it that all of them were children he had personally trained. In truth, Draco saved children who were orphaned by war.
He would take them off the streets and give them a way out. Either they go to the orphanage and get a chance to live a normal life, or they join the Blue Sapphire. For those who chose to be in Blue Sapphire, he would choose a select few suited for his elite squad.
They were beyond Helion’s death squad, and the head of the squad was a man named Princeton. He had the face of a delicate beauty and hair that touched his waist. He had the face of an angel, but he was nowhere close to that. He was a devil in disguise, and most would underestimate him when they first laid eyes on him.
But once they crossed his bottom line, they would meet the evil buried just beneath the surface. He wasn’t in the warship. He was standing over the body of a Helion assassin with blood splatter on his face and an evil smirk.
The kids they had saved looked at him, terrified half to death. He knew his overall look scared them, so he turned away and said to Meon, his deputy, "Check on them."
Meon nodded and approached them with a friendly smile. Meanwhile, Princeton walked towards the Helion soldier who was still alive. He shot them with no hesitation, burning a hole into the man’s brain.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He clicked his tongue in annoyance and checked it. When he saw it was Damian, his expression remained the same, but his eyes showed a glimmer of light.
"What?" he said, seeming nonchalant.
Damian, however, sounded so panicked. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"Am I that fragile in your eyes?" he said, and Damian was at a loss. He was so worried that he left despite being grounded by his father, but who would have thought he would be met with this attitude? "Stop making a fuss."
Before Damian could say anything, the call was cut. Damian, "..." This was his karma. This had to be his Karma because why was that when he was crazy about someone, they weren’t interested in him or even dared to claim him.
Meanwhile, Li Jun received a message that the mission was a success. Hearing that, he heaved a sigh. Yan Jia had been trying to break through the reinforced door of the van. When she heard him sigh, she turned towards him and asked, "What? Did they save the kids?"
Li Jun said, "Princeton got the job done." He was worried that Yu Wen would sacrifice himself on this mission. As a safety assurance, he had his grandfather send the elite squad that was on standby.
Yan Jia sighed in relief. After taking her breath for a second, she said, "I don’t think Yu Wen is going to like that you interfered."
Li Jun didn’t care if he was going to be mad at him. As long as he was safe, that was all that mattered. Yan Jia continued messing with the hinges of the door. Without warning, the door suddenly gave way. Li Jun let out a soft chuckle and said, "You are the best."
Yan Jia smiled happily at the praise. They opened the door a crack and suddenly saw that there were two people guarding the door. They didn’t hesitate, beating the hell out of them and knocking them out, setting themselves free.
"I am starving. Are you starving?" Li Jun asked, and she nodded in agreement. The two of them walked away with their backs straight and chests high like they hadn’t just escaped imprisonment.
When Yu Wen returned, he had expected to find Li Jun where he had left him. But when he saw the back of the transport van that had been tampered with, there was no one.
Thinking Li Jun must have snuck into his tent like he did last night, he didn’t panic. He had someone send snacks over there. For the next hour, he busied himself trying to get the children comfortable. He also had the few surviving Helion soldiers provide useful information.
But no matter how much he tortured them, they refused to talk. They also had to prevent them from committing suicide, which was a task on its own.
When he finally finished his work, he headed for his tent. But unlike last time, the lanterns were dim, and there was total silence. His brow creased, he walked inside and called out, but there was no answer.
The bedroom was also empty, with no signs of life. It was as if Li Jun hadn’t been here. Li Jun really hadn’t been there. Angry because Yu Wen had looked him up, he decided to go and sleep in his designated tent. He even invited a few other people, pretending like it was a housewarming party.
Yu Wen, on the other hand, thought that Li Jun had left. In a panic, he rushed out and ordered Alex to track Li Jun’s whereabouts. When he gave Li Jun the necklace, he knew it was a risk, but he was also hopeful that Li Jun would actually be here just for him.
Thinking about it now, he had sounded so narcissistic. It didn’t take long for Alex to find out where Zi Rui was. Soon, he said, "Sir, he is that way."
He pointed in a direction, and Yu Wen followed. The closer they got, the noisier it became. The two of them looked at each other, a little puzzled, before they picked up their pace and rushed inside.
Li Jun was playing card games with lower-ranking soldiers, and from the look of it, they had lost a lot of meal tickets.
When the soldiers saw the general and Alex, they instantly got up in a panic and saluted. They felt so guilty that they didn’t dare look the general in the eye. Yu Wen didn’t make it difficult for them.
He said, "You may take your leave." Hearing those words, they all scrambled out of there like they had received a lifeline.
As soon as they were gone, Li Jun said, "Will you look at that. Someone finally decided to show up. Are you here to thank me?"
Yu Wen gestured for Alex to leave. Alex glanced at Yan Jia and asked, "What about her? I will leave if she leaves." Talk about being a good wingman.
Yu Wen glanced at Li Jun, and Li Jun seemed to understand his meaning. Li Jun said, "Will you give us a minute?" Yan Jia wasn’t keen about the idea. Sure, Li Jun had spent a night in Yu Wen’s bed, and she ought not to worry.
But just because Li Jun survived other nights, there was no guarantee that he would be able to survive this night, too. There were possible signs that he might get eaten clean, so she said, "No. If you have anything you want to say to him, then you can say it in front of me."
