Chapter 145: Chapter 145 Rowena spilled the fact
_Theodore’s POV_
I couldn’t help the thoughts that ran through my head the whole of yesterday.
Actually, when Virella had left for a few hours, I had gone to see Rowena. To discuss something which I couldn’t even figure out on my own.
She had looked at me with that same calm expression she always put on, this woman wasn’t one to be easily broken. She was stronger, stronger than all the women I had met in my lifetime.
Keeping my composure, I sat beside her hospital bed, gazing at her as she slept.
“What do you want?” She suddenly asked, but that didn’t surprise me. From the moment I walked in, I already knew she sensed my presence and she wasn’t fully asleep.
Unfortunately, her wolf had been damaged by the substance injected into her body. If she ever makes it out of here alive, she would be wolf less forever.
“What do you want?” She repeated when I said nothing, this time, she opened her eyes and looked directly at me.
Rowena Asthorne was interesting, and I couldn’t hold back the smile that touched my lips.
“Nothing, I just came to check up on you.” I said flatly, my eyes assessing her features. “Have you had anything to eat?”
Rowena smirked, she didn’t look one bit surprised by my sudden behavior.
“Cut the crap. You’re here to ask questions about your girlfriend, right? I’ll entertain you.”
Now that was unexpected. I was sure my composure slipped a bit. She was fast, I had to give her credits for that. How did Kaelen fumble this woman?
I cleared my throat, letting my mask slip back in place. “I have a few questions indeed, and I’ll be direct about them.” I paused, letting her absorb my words. When I was sure she was ready, I continued. “Virella hates you, that’s for sure, but why?”
Rowena raised a brow at me, giving me a look that I hadn’t expected anyone to ever give me. People feared me, respected me and even lick the ground I walk on. But this woman just gave me a look that seemed to question my intelligence.
“I’ll assume you’re pretending not to know. You can’t be that dumb.” She said calmly and looked at the direction of the window where sunlight already spilled into the room from. freёwebnovel.com
I clenched my fist but held my anger back.
She stayed silent for a while then she began. “Theodore Ashford. I know you know that Virella doesn’t love you. You feel your love is enough for the two of you, and she gives great sex, that’s why you don’t want to let her go. But the truth is that Virella is using you. At first I thought she genuinely loved Kaelen because she was always there to help him.” She paused for a moment then proceeded, “I was wrong about that. Virella doesn’t love Kaelen, she’s just desperate to have the Luna title.”
I glanced at her for a moment before I said, “This doesn’t answer my question.” I knew for a fact that Virella doesn’t love me. She’d never really said it back, and I didn’t care. As long as I had her by my side, she would eventually learn to love me back.
What I needed to know was why she hated Rowena so much.
“I wasn’t finished.” Rowena sighed. “I was once the Luna of Moonreign, and then Kaelen returned with Virella. She wants what I have, the position I held. She succeeded in chasing me out of that house_”
“Chasing? Didn’t you leave on your own accord?” I smirked, reminding her that she went about the divorce on her own. The alpha king office and so on. Virella didn’t do anything.
“You’re really slow, Theodore.” She shook her head as if pitting me. “Virella chased me out because she knew I was there and she came home with Kaelen. Plus, the baby she used to tie him down wasn’t even his. I never wanted and never will share my man with another woman, no matter what.”
That was somewhat valid. Virella did force her way into Kaelen’s life. When I found out she was getting married to him and that she was pregnant, I was devastated.
I confronted her and she calmly told me she was doing it for me. She wanted me to have Moonreign and become Alpha, just like Pierre. She also said she would become my Luna. I had to trust her because I loved her so much.
Hearing this now, I was convinced she has other motives.
Rowena continued, “Virella hates me because even after I left Kaelen, he still doesn’t want to let me be. He doesn’t want to move on, and he probably doesn’t love Virella like she thought he did. She thinks Kaelen would win me back and make me assume my previous position as Luna. Or haven’t you noticed that the Luna position still remains null? Everyone refers to Virella as Luna, but if Kaelen or Maelis doesn’t perform the Luna rites for her, she would never be Luna of Moonreign.”
This was the first time I heard Rowena talk this much.
“What you’re saying is that Virella doesn’t love Kaelen, she just wants to be Luna?” I asked and Rowena nodded.
I clenched my fist in anger. This wasn’t what we originally planned. She had told me she would get Moonreign, make me Alpha and she would become my Luna. freeweɓnøvel.com
Why would she want to be Kaelen’s Luna?
“You must be wondering why she wants to be Kaelen’s Luna,” Rowena added, as if reading my mind.
I looked at her with my calm expression and waited for her to continue.
“It’s because unlike Kaelen, she cannot control you. You love her, yes, but you’re still much more intelligent and rational than Kaelen could ever be. She can control Kaelen well, but that doesn’t say the same for you. She is using you, Mr. Theodore Ashford.”
I was done listening. This was starting to grate on my nerves.
I stood up abruptly, my shoulders tensed but my expression giving nothing away.
Rowena smiled thinly at me, and she shook her head again.
“Run from the truth all you want. Virella is not and would never fall in love with you. She only needs you for the meantime. Soon, you’ll be discarded. Mark my words.”
