Chapter 144: Chapter 144 He finally knows the truth

_Kaelen’s POV_

Just when I thought I might die in this cell Alaric decided to lock me up in, he suddenly sends guards to come get me out. Shade wouldn’t stop talking, rubbing my stupidity in my face.

“I keep telling you over and over, Virella would find a way to get us out.” I said again.

“But she didn’t this time. Alaric probably found out you were innocent and got you out.” Shade said.

I refused to banter with him anymore. It was finally time to go home.

But my happiness was short-lived when I saw a new set of guards standing at the entrance.

“Alpha Kaelen Varkos, the Alpha King has instructed us to bring you to him.” One of them said robotically.

I frowned. Alaric was in another city with Rowena, why would he ask for me?

“She’s missing, remember? Maybe he wants to question you.” Shade said.

Why would he want to question me?

I didn’t get an answer before they reached out to grab me like I was a criminal. They weren’t pushing me, I noticed, they kept a bit of respect for me as we walked out of the Ebonmoon Packhouse. Whatever Alaric had to say to me, It was definitely because of Rowena.

The plane took off a few hours later and we landed at the airport around 5 pm.

Another van was awaiting us. I’d long stopped fighting it and just went with them. I wondered where Virella was. She hadn’t come to see me, and I couldn’t reach her through our mindlink.

“Just don’t think about her now. Let’s get this over with.” Shade said.

The van pulled up at a hotel a few minutes later. I knew this hotel and who it belonged to.

When we got out of the van, I walked into the place and found Alaric’s Beta waiting.

“Alpha Kaelen, welcome.” Reid said, holding my gaze with his.

“Why am I here?” I asked, going straight to the point.

“Please come with me.” He said and led the way, he didn’t wait for me to ask where we were headed or give an answer to my question.

I took a deep breath, holding back my anger and following him into the elevator.

We arrived at what seemed to be the top floor, then walked through a series of corridors before arriving at a door.

Reid pushed the door open and invited me in.

I glared at him before walking in.

The sight that greeted me was an unexpected one.

Not just the equipment placed in every corner of the room, or Alaric seated at one corner with a laptop. It was the sight of Kasper, Alpha Pierre, and Prince Ezekiel seated at the other corner.

They stared the moment I walked in and Ezekiel was the first to stand up.

“Alpha Kaelen Varkos,” he smiled, “Welcome.”

I glanced briefly at him before turning back to Alaric.

“Why am I here, Alpha King?” I asked.

Alaric gestured to the seat in front of him, “Take a seat, Alpha Kaelen.”

I didn’t want to, but this was the Alpha King, so I had to obey.

I walked over to the seat and sat on it.

“Why am I here?” I repeated.

Alaric looked behind me at Ezekiel, then he gestured for Ezekiel to come forward.

Ezekiel came over and stood before me. The smile remained on his face, but his eyes got serious.

“Alpha Kaelen, first of all, I’d like to apologize on behalf of the Alpha King for detaining you.” He paused, “And also, apologize for the news I’m about to deliver to you.”

I frowned. Why were they apologizing?

“Alpha Alaric, why is he apologizing? Did you find out I didn’t kidnap Rowena and that someone else did?”

Alaric nodded.

I smirked. “I deserve compensation for this. You’ve ruined my reputation.”

“You’ll get it, but for now, we have a few things to ask you.” Alaric said.

“What?”

“Alpha Kaelen, you had trademark infringement issues, right?” Ezekiel asked and I glanced at him. I didn’t answer before he continued, “Did you find out the company responsible for the lawsuit?”

“No.” I said.

“We did. We found out.”

I raised a brow, “You found them?”

“Yes, and you won’t believe who was responsible.” Ezekiel took a seat.

“Who?”

My mind worked through a few enemies I had and none of them was bold enough to do that to me. I already suspected Rowena which it wasn’t her at the end of the day.

“Virella, your lovely wife.”

“Excuse me?” I jerked up from my seat, confused. “You can’t just accuse Virella of something like this without proof.”

“Who said we didn’t have proof?” It was Pierre asking this time. Ezekiel walked over and showed me the tablet in his hand. He worked me through everything on it, everything that exposed the woman I married and planned to make my Luna as the root cause of my problems.

When I got to the last slide, I felt every cell in my body go dark. Shade didn’t say a word as well. He was just as surprised as I was.

I clenched my fist in anger, my vision blurring out for a second. Virella was behind the trademark incident that ruined me?

“But....but how is this possible? She was the one who helped me build that club.” I said.

Alaric and the other frowned in confusion.

“What do you mean? How?” He asked.

“I mean, we had a fight one time and she left the mansion angry. Later that night, she returned after not taking my calls the entire night, came to my office and handed me a check with a lot of money. She said she wanted to help me establish the Moonreign Pack again.” I explained in details, before I could hold myself back.

Alaric glanced at Ezekiel and they shared a look.

“Did she mention where the money came from?” Ezekiel was asking now.

I shook my head. “She only said she had connections. That’s all.”

“And that connection was Theodore.” Pierre added.

Now I was left in total confusion. “Who is Theodore and why is he Virella’s connection?” I asked.

Ezekiel pulled out his phone, typed a few things and turned the screen towards me. “Take a good look at this photo of your lovely Virella being pressed into an alleyway wall, getting her brains fucked out.” He said it with a look of pure disgust.

I grabbed the phone from him and took a closer look. For the first time in my life, I felt it, tears pooled at the back of my eyes, threatening to fall.

Virella was indeed the one in the picture and she had her dress bunched around her waist.

I opened my mouth to say something, but Shade beat me to it.

“Shameless and disgusting. She has been the one ruining your life all these while.” He said.

The others allowed the silence in the room to last for while, no one said a word.

They let me process my thoughts.

But after a few minutes, Ezekiel’s voice came through my haze again. fгeewebnovёl.com

“Now, Alpha Kaelen. You’ve seen things for yourself, which means you will be able to open up without hesitation, am I right?”

I didn’t look up at him, but I nodded.

“Virella and Theodore has Rowena, and we need you to tell us if she’s ever made any funny movements or mentioned anything suspicious we can use as a lead.”
