Chapter 143: Chapter 143 Getting Kaelen Out
_Ezekiel’s POV_
Pierre and I stepped out for a drink, taking a break from the investigation. With the amount of work we’ve done, even police officer detectives wouldn’t be able to achieve what we’ve achieved in this little amount of time.
Pierre still looked like terrible, his gaze was unstable. I understood it was because his stepbrother was the last person he’d expected to be the mastermind of this game.
“Relax, Pierre. He was probably tricked by that bitch.” I said helpfully, but it didn’t help much.
Pierre didn’t say a word and just chugged his drink.
“Easy,” I warned as I refilled his glass. I cared too much about him to let him die because of his fake blood brother.
He was fake because he didn’t reach out to Pierre all these years.
He let his ego win.
If he’d reached out, maybe he would have been a better person than what he turned out.
“But why?” Pierre asked after a while. I knew the drink was taking its effect on him. “Why did he have to do all these? That too for Virella because I know he has no personal issue with Rowena. They have no relation to each other. It’s definitely for Virella.”
I shrugged, selecting my words carefully. A riled up Pierre wasn’t what I wanted to handle. “Well, he could be in love with her. Or maybe he owes her favor from a thing she might have done for him. I’m not sure of any, but it’d definitely one of them.”
“He let love use his head that much?”
“He probably loves with his head.” I said.
It was supposed to be funny, and Pierre laughed.
“Ezekiel, not now.” He paused, taking a sip this time. “You’re really a genius, you know?”
I looked at him and let out a small smile. “I won’t really put it that way, but thank you.” If we weren’t in public, I’d have kissed the living day light out of him. My father should hear this, someone called me a genius. All my father ever saw me as was an irresponsible idiot.
“Enough of this, what do you think is up next?” Pierre waved his hand and took another sip of his drink.
I thought about how far we’ve come and tried to determine what steps we needed to take next.
“I can’t say for sure. Theo seems really cunning, sorry,” I paused and looked at him.
“No offense taken.” He motioned for me to continue.
I nodded and continued, “From what i know, women would do anything to their fellow women, I mean the one they hated to the extent of kidnapping. Virella must have tortured Rowena, that’s why she’s unable to reach out through her mindlink. She has a mindlink with Kasper, right?”
Pierre nodded.
“There. So I’m guessing they’ve done something to her wolf.”
Pierre visibly tensed at my words but I touched his shoulders to reassure him. “Calm down. Let’s return to the others, I have a suggestion that might help with this whole thing.”
Pierre nodded and we both returned to the hotel investigating room.
Alaric looked like he’d died and woke up, still at the verge of death though. He was seated at the far end with his eyes closed. He sure loved Rowena so much to look at by dishelved and vulnerable.
When we walked in, he opened his eyes.
I glanced at him and said, “I have a suggestion that might help.”
He sprang up from his seat and everyone gathered around me.
We sat down on the round table as I began my explanation.
“So, we have confirmed that Virella might have been the one behind the trademark infringement issue Kaelen had, and that Theodore is helping her out with it. Also, Kaelen definitely isn’t behind Rowena’s abduction.” I paused, taking in everyone’s serious looks.
“What are you trying to say, we don’t have all day.” Alaric almost snapped. He was trying hard to control himself, I could tell.
“I’m saying that the person who knows Virella better than anyone else to Kaelen Varkos. He’s the only one who can tell us where she goes, things she does. He definitely knows something we don’t.” I said.
Alaric frowned, but it wasn’t a frown of confusion or anger, more like confirming my words. While others looked like they’re left in some maze. They really had to keep up with my genius mind.
“So you’re saying we should release Kaelen and try to get him on our side?” Alaric hit the nail on the head and for a moment, I was proud of him. Alpha King for sure.
I nodded. “We can get him to help us.”
Alaric didn’t even think it through, it was as if he’d listen to whatever option being thrown at him. He was desperate. “Reid, get him released and bring him here as soon as possible.” He ordered.
Reid bowed and got to work.
I cracked my fingers and thought about what next. “I’d be gets here, we have to convince him that the person killing him was none other than his precious wife, Virella.”
“Damn, I never knew someone could be this evil.” Pierre added from beside me. “She basically helped him solve everything back at the dispute point, so why would she do this to him now? Didn’t she love him? Did he have a motive?”
“She had no motive.” Alaric answered this time and everyone’s gaze turned to him. He sat straight and said calmly, “She was probably hurt that Kaelen still didn’t let Rowena go after everything she did for him. She lost her baby, I heard about it, and the next day, Kaelen went embarrassing himself at the competition. The one held by Seraphine.”
Everyone immediately understood. He wasn’t wrong about that. Kaelen had really gone too far. freeweɓnovel.cøm
He was a really stupid man. How did he even become Alpha?
“Indeed,” Pierre said. “Kaelen always acts irrationally. He never thinks things through, even if he appears to have thought it through. He probably felt indebted to Virella and plus the pregnancy, so he decided to marry her. He didn’t realize his feelings for Rowena until later on.”
I face palmed inwards. Pierre didn’t need to say it like that. I stole a glance at Alaric and saw his jaw tighten.
He’d get over it. Kaelen was never going to have Rowena.
Reid walked in a few minutes later. “I’ve made the call, Kaelen would be here in about seven hours.”
