Leo didn’t waste time because, unlike the first time, he knew what he wanted.

’No one ever told me that I had to wait!.’
He took a deep breath.
’As long as I get a cool skill, there is nothing to worry about!’
He closed the system screen, his sights now on Lord Gara. Leo knew the faster he took care of him, the better.
"Stand up, Vegor."
The knight stood up from the ground, following the orders of his master. Together they began talking, deciding how they were going to continue with the battle.
While the Breakers behind them utilized the little break they had to get healed up, none of them lowered their guard. They still weren’t fully trusting Leo. Even though he had saved them, having a floor beast at his disposal meant a lot of things. It was basically a gold mine for conspiracy theories.
"Please let me fight him myself, Master."
The knight began, looking at the army of beasts in front of them like they were sightseeing on a vacation.
"No, I can’t allow that. This guy needs to be fought with everything at once because if he attacks you, you basically can’t defend yourself."
He replied, turning down the knight’s idea.
Leo narrowed his eyes, going into deep thought as he started to calculate the whole situation.
’That’s what they all have been mistaking. Some of the SS-ranked Breakers have many techniques, but instead of using them all at once, they wait to see what their enemy has in their arsenal. It’s not a bad idea, but not the most suitable against him.’
"So what should we do, Master?"
"Simple. We attack him together. If we coordinate our attacks, we may have a chance against him."
Leo stretched his hand, and out of nowhere a swarm of darkness materialized into a blade in his hand.
Awe filled the Breakers.
The Commander blinked with surprise as well.
"Isn’t that the Darkness Affinity?"
"Yeah, that means he has two affinities. Fire and Darkness."
"Impossible."
Kendal, the pink-haired girl, shuddered. She had seen Leo as beneath her from the very beginning. That’s why when they hadn’t yet come out of the floors, she suggested they’d be labeled dead.
And now, to find out that the very person in question had two affinities felt like an insult to her very name.
Just thinking about it made her body feel weak, so she fell to her knees in disbelief.
"How come..."
She mouthed a little.
"How come a trash person like that gets to be above me and I don’t?"
All her life, even back on Earth, she had always been on top. Whether it was at the hospital line, she could always get attended to first. At school she was that girl even the teachers had a crush on.
But now all of that had crumbled down.
"Jake, Commander... I leave the safety of these children in your hands."
That was the last thing Leo said before rushing into the swarm of beasts.
But before he could cut anything, the beasts disappeared into ash at Lord Gara’s command.
"Why did you did you remove our appetizers?"
Leo looked completely disappointed. They would’ve created a good chance for him to farm points.
"They are useless henchmen. I’m better off without them."
Even from afar, his voice was clearer than ever.
Lord Gara walked toward the two new challengers, but unlike the rest of the battle, the clothes he wore started to transform. Light spilled out until finally he changed into fighting clothes that resembled a ninja’s, but without any kind of mask on his face.
No one needed to ask. This only meant one thing. He had started taking the fight seriously.
"Let’s do this."
The two attacked Lord Gara with all their might, their movements so fast that even an untrained eye couldn’t see them. The only visible things were the aftermaths of their attacks.
The earpiece of Commander Carol flickered to life once again before the General’s loud voice came through.
"Commander, tell me what’s happening. Is it true that some kid has joined the battle in the desert?!"
He spoke so loudly that the Commander had to remove the earpiece to save her eardrum, but even then she could still hear his voice.
"Yes sir. It’s Leo Hamany, the same kid we suspended days ago."
A picture of Leo got painted in his mind after he heard the name. His weak body, sad unexplained face... it wasn’t anything to be excited about or place hope in.
"I reckon he is doing bad!"
"To the contrary, sir. He is holding his own. Even better than anyone who has faced Lord Gara so far!"
The words were like a gunshot to the General’s old heart. But something deep inside him never felt surprised, like he had expectations of Leo he was never aware of before.
"Alright then, do whatever you can to support hi—"
"We can’t, sir."
She cut him short.
Her vision now looked at the flashes of light splashing into the air as the two sides clashed.
"At this rate, if we joined in on the fight, we would just be holding them back!"
Pow!
Leo managed to land a punch on Lord Gara, the first time someone had even managed to faze him since the beginning of the fight.
Vegor was already behind him at that very second, planning to cut Gara in half, but like rubber, Gara jumping off in between the two, making the blade attack Leo instead.
Spark!!
Leo managed to block the attack with his blade.
After getting his balance, vegor begun apologizing.
"I’m sorry, Master, but I couldn’t—"
"It’s okay. Let’s just concentrate on him!"
Relentlessly, two rushed in again, this time mixing their attacks with flames.
Vegor swung his greatsword from above while Leo attacked from the opposite side, flames wrapping around his darkness blade. To accomplish that combination , Leo compressed the flaming nucleus so small before installing it in the middle of the blade.
Their coordination was almost flawless, forcing Lord Gara to defend from two completely different angles at once.
And the fruits of their coordination haf already started showing. Leo broke through lord gara’s defense creating an opening for Vegor to utilize.
Slash!
Vegors flaming blade tore across Gara’s shoulder, leaving a deep burning wound that made everyone watching freeze in disbelief.
"He, he actually injured him!"
Commander Carol’s eyes widened, but Lord Gara merely looked at the wound before smiling.
"It has been a long time since someone managed to make me bleed."
The flesh slowly stitched itself back together as though nothing had happened.
Leo clicked his tongue in disbelief.
"Vegor!"
"I understand what you mean Master."
The two rushed in again without giving Gara another second to recover. Their attacks flowed together naturally, one covering every opening left by the other. Whenever Leo attacked from above, Vegor struck from below. Whenever Gara dodged one blade, another was already waiting.
Boom! Crash! Spark!!
The desert shook from the continuous collisions as sand exploded into the sky.
Leo narrowed his eyes while exchanging dozens of blows with Gara.
’He’s adapting.’
Every combination they created only worked once. After seeing it a single time, Gara would already know how to counter it.
The two increased their pace even further. Sword after sword, punch after punch, flames and darkness flooded the battlefield.
For the first time since the battle had started, Lord Gara was actually being forced backwards.
"Excellent. This is becoming entertaining."
BOOOOM!!!
A terrifying pressure burst from his body blasting Leo and vegor away like leaves in a storm, crashing to the ground before managing to stop.
Lord Gara slowly brushed the sand off his clothes as if the previous exchange meant nothing.
"I’ve tested your limits," he said calmly. "Now it’s my turn."
His figure vanished from thin air.
Leo’s eyes flinched to the sides, searching for him.
’Behind!’
He spun around just in time to dodge a palm strike. But before he could regain his balance, another strike came from his left.
"Shit."
Leo gathered every ounce of strength he had left and swung his sword with everything he had.
Lord Gara leaned back just enough for the blade to miss before stepping inside Leo’s guard in a single smooth movement.
Leo immediately jumped backwards, trying to create space between the two.
But he was too late.
Lord Gara’s hand had already touched Leo’s chest as a smile spread across his face.
"Got you."
Leo’s eyes widened as every spectator watching felt their hearts sink.
’He... actually touched me."
