Chapter 32: Vegor
The Floor Beasts kept running at the disfigured group of Breakers, the vibrations getting even stronger with every passing second. Those that had already surrendered just stood still, awaiting their death, but those that had hope held their heads up high, wanting to fight back. Leo’s friends were among them, along with Kendal, the pink-haired girl.
But the closer they got, the more the fight seemed like something they couldn’t win.
"Hang on, Breakers!!"
Boom!
Out of nowhere, a large figure landed in the middle of the battlefield, its shockwaves blasting away some of the beasts nearest to the humans. Dust erupted, filling the air and clouding their sight.
When the dust settled, they finally got a clear view of the interruptor. It looked like it had worn metal all over its body, with lively blue flames coming out of its holes. A very intense amount of aura came out of it too. It was Vegor, the Knight of Flames, standing coolly as he unsheathed the large blade in his hands, planning to face the danger head-on.
"That aura... I can’t forget that aura."
Jake muttered. Even if the beast’s appearance had changed, it wasn’t enough to fool him.
Now they were stuck in a dilemma, trying to decide if he had come to save the humans or attack them instead.
The stampede continued again. Quickly, the blue flames inside Vegor’s eyes got more intense until they reached a stage where the eye holes couldn’t contain them anymore. A large explosion burst out from them and started shooting down all the beasts on the front lines. The blue flames were more powerful, the effect being immediate too. Unlike the first time, anything caught in their path got burned to a crisp. It was even easier since the beasts were running head-on toward the Knight’s flaming blasts.
The Knight continued until countless beasts were dissipated and only a third of them were left. Seeing this, Lord Gara made another hand sign, and the beasts froze in their tracks. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Lord Gara didn’t understand any of it, nor did the humans. The beast looked like the Knight of Flames, who by right was from the Floors and whose instinct was to kill humans, but somehow, in a messed-up way, it got a makeover and was burning the beasts instead.
The tension stretched on as everyone waited to see what the changed Knight of Flames would do next.
Little did they know that answer had just arrived in the form of Leo.
"Hi, guys. How have you been?"
Leo muttered as he came from behind the injured Breakers.
Jennifer rushed over and gave him a hug the moment she saw him, whispering, "I miss you."
Sabrina, on the other hand, wasn’t impressed. She almost felt jealous that Jennifer had someone to cuddle with.
"What are you doing here? It’s dangerous. Go hide somewhere."
Jake muttered after he finished looking at how different Leo’s choice of clothes was.
"Just came to help, nothing more."
He replied, still in Jennifer’s grasp at that moment.
The words angered many from the force, but Kendal was the one who gathered the most courage to express her anger.
"Who do you think you are? None of us could do anything about Lord Gara. What do you think a weak Null like you could even do?"
Jennifer let go of him, staring at Kendal with fury in her eyes. After pulling his jacket down, Leo began walking toward the front lines.
"Don’t worry about that!"
He waved effortlessly, like the situation wasn’t serious at all.
Nobody knew what his plan was, so they just watched him as every step brought him closer to Vegor, the old Knight of Flames.
"Leo, no! He is the Knight of Flames!!"
Sabrina screamed out of her lungs, the trauma boiling inside her soul.
But even with that, Leo kept moving forward with his hands pressed deep into his pockets. That was until he stood face to face with the Knight.
The whole scene fell into anticipation. This was the moment Lord Gara would get the answer he had been waiting for. If the Knight crushed the boy, then he was still a Floor Beast.
Suddenly!
The Knight knelt down on one knee.
"My Master."
Leo chuckled first.
"Why do you like calling me that, Vegor!"
A wave of silence came again.
"Wait, what!!!"
Murmurs erupted like a volcano in a way never seen before. Not even Commander Carol was spared.
"Did the Knight just kneel down for Leo?"
"Yes, and it called him Master. None of this makes sense."
"But I thought he was a weakling. That’s why the officials chased him out."
Jake froze with confusion. He thought Leo had some kind of power but never imagined he was powerful enough to tame the Knight of Flames. He found himself at a crossroads. When they started, they had the same kind of power, but now Leo was somehow far ahead of him.
The whole thing just proved his theory that Leo was hiding something, but now he was caught in a pickle. If Leo was really a spy for the Meta Humans, then why was he fighting against Lord Gara? Was there another motive to this, or was this all an act?
"Hey, Leo."
Jake shouted at him with a serious look, getting Leo’s attention.
"Yes, bro?"
"Why did you come here instead of going to the others? There are civilians still suffering in the city because of the two Meta Humans."
He pointed it out, aiming to catch Leo in a place that painted him in a bad light.
Leo hesitated first as he thought deeply about Jake’s question.
’That’s it, fall for my trap, you idiot.’
"It’s simple, really."
He began.
"He is the one giving them orders. If I beat him up, they will come crawling back to him."
Leo’s eyes locked onto Lord Gara, who stood far behind the beasts’ defensive line.
"Are you serious? If Lord Viper couldn’t beat him, how do you think a Level 1 trash like you could beat him?"
Kendal shouted at him while wrinkles formed on her forehead.
The words hit Leo hard. She was right after all. Lord Gara was powerful. Even though he got his stats increased, he didn’t know the measure of Lord Gara’s strength since he was holding back.
"You’re right, he is powerful, but I can’t just stop trying!!!" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
He shouted with determination. The words motivated the rest of the Breakers who were down, but some still didn’t buy it. If fighting Lord Gara had taught them anything, it was that having motivation didn’t quite work on him. It happened with Viper. It happened with Kingsley. So what made Leo special?
Suddenly, Leo’s screen came up.
