Chapter 30: The Fight For Valoria

All two hundred Breakers finally arrived beside the hole, marching out of the trucks with determination. Putting on serious faces that hid the insecurities underneath their souls.

They stood in formal, clean lines, just as they practiced. Earpieces in their ears, with heads held up high. In front of them, four senior Breakers came, . Briefing them on what their orders were going to be was General Carol, a black muscular woman who had a face that could scare even the bravest men away.

"The fate of Valoria and Argon city is in your hands. We are to wait for the Meta Humans on the first floor in the dungeon. When they come, fire at wil—!"

Boom!!!

A large surge of force pushed out of the hole, its sound and power comparable to a jet’s when it’s lifting off.

When they turned to see what it was, everyone acted like they had seen graves engraved with their own names.

Lord Gara had flown out of the hole, his hands extended like a messiah as he drowned in the sunlight. It was even a surprise that he made it possible to jump out of the large hole.

’Wait, why is he alone? Where are his subordinates?’

Jake thought as he gazed at him. It didn’t sound right to him. From the footage he had seen, the two were always glued tight around him. Why now, when you are clearly going into enemy territory? All questions came up in his mind but received no answers in return.

"Shoot that bastard before he lands!"

Commander Carol gave the green light.

Sounds of war echoed all over the desert, bullets flying like crazy, aiming to take the floating Meta Human down. Skill attacks were thrown too. Those that had one, like Jake’s electrical ball, threw it with all their might. Those that were fortunate enough to have two long-range skills threw them as well, even mixing them to create one super attack.

The healers like Jennifer did their job too. They activated their techniques to reverse the recoil damage that came with the soldiers using their attacks. It was a system of combat that really proved itself to work each time.

And the whole time this happened, Lord Gara took deep breaths with a low smile on his face that betrayed the fact that he was enjoying finally appearing on the surface.

The attacks connected with Lord Gara all at once, forming a unified attack. Immediately, a large explosion went off in the skies, sending waves that spread away the clouds.

Shouts of triumph began a second later, some even hugging each other in excitement. There is strength in numbers, and the demonstration of their power that just happened was a testament to that.

The smoke around Lord Gara started to disappear, fading away into the air. Slowly, Lord Gara became visible again.

Murmurs slowly fell as the humans on the ground began to realize that their attacks didn’t do any notable damage to him.

It only made him angrier.

"Your very existence is a danger to everything around yo!"

Lord Gara spoke calmly, but everyone in the desert was able to hear it like he was using a speaker.

" They’ve left all their faith in me so that I can bring them up to the surface. Lay witness, humans."

He landed on the ground with amazing control, not so far away from the rest, then pulled his hands out from his robes.

Everyone was tense in that second, just waiting for Commander Carol’s orders. Even Kendal, the pink-haired talkative girl who was the captain of Team B, was silent as hell.

"What are you waiting for? Shoot that bitch again!!!"

A battle cry went off once again. Everyone prepared to shoot at the target, but this time Lord Gara was a step ahead of them.

He touched the ground with his right hand.

Before anyone’s attack could mature, the ground started to crack, making deep holes that mirrored what happened on Earth when it was ending. Large instant hills began forming too, pushing the Breakers up before shrinking back down, making them fall again into a pile of corpses .

To survive, you needed something to hold on to, but in a scenario like this there wasn’t anything you could place your faith in.

Jake tried to get a hold of the situation, but a lot of things were changing at the same time, almost like it was an obstacle course. It was either a hill was going to appear in front of you, or a crack beneath you that would swallow you into the dark abyss.

After a few minutes of the brutal attack, it all came to a stop.

By then, the battlefield had been leveled. Everyone had an injury of their own. And the healers weren’t healing others too, because they were busy healing themselves.

Commander Carol was still alive, standing in front of her army.

She looked around, seeing the broken spirits and bodies of her fighters. In that moment, she knew that if they were overpowered before, right now every odd in this world was against them.

But even with that, Lord Gara wasn’t done with them.

For the first time since the beginning of the fight, he made a hand sign with both of his fingers, opening three large portals beside him, each large enough to fit an entire skyscraper.

In fear, Commander Carol wanted to scream for her soldiers to be on their feet, but only a few people looked strong enough to raise their hands.

"I know you think you’re going to die, that this is the moment. But we are survivors. We survived Earth, we can survive this."

But before that could properly finish restoring their hope, hundreds of beasts started to appear out of each portal.

Surprisingly, they were all beasts they had seen before: Hell Hounds from Floor 1, Beak Beasts from Floor 2, Crystal Bears from Floor 3.

And Elephantos from Floor 4.

These were creatures the size of an elephant but had a rhino horn-like trunk on their foreheads. One of then has 12 points

They stampeded towards the humans. The ground vibrated as rocks jumped up and down.

Sorrow filled Jake’s eyes as he saw his death coming towards him. Kendal, Jennifer, and Sabrina knew it too. They were not stupid enough to not know when they were beaten.

Suddenly, everyone’s earpiece turned on, a flicker of frequency came first before a terrified voice followed.

"We need... we need backup over here!"

The words repeated over and over again, the sound of slashes and whooshes in the background.

"Hey, slow down. What do you mean?"

"The other Meta Humans. Two of them have been scattered all over Agorn City, causing destruction."

Jake’s eyes widened in fear as he realized sepearting was a plan all along. If they managed to take down a city heavily relied upon for military activities, it would be easy for them to take the rest. For beings that lived in the floors they did have a good military strategy.

Suddenly, the voice of the man on the earpiece changed, the pace becoming more surprised than fearful.

"There’s something going on. Something—"

The words got cut off by a subtle change in frequency.

"What’s happening?!"

Commander Carol asked again.

Everyone was able to hear what they were conversing about, so it was easy for her to catch up.

"Ma’am, there’s someone... someone standing against one of the Meta Humans!"

All their eyes enlarged in wonder. In a worst-case scenario like this, who would be so bold enough to stand against a Meta Human?

"I think my eyes are deceiving me, but it seems... it seems like it’s the boy we suspended days ago."

The words came out unclear.

Jake froze in that second as realization crawled up his skin.

The Commander asked again.

"Who?"

The man on the earpiece paused a little as if trying to check again. Then after confirming it, he answered firmly.

"It’s Leo Hamanay, ma’am. It’s Leo Hamanay."
