Chapter 29: Viper Gets His Chance[ 2]
(Notice::: The Chapter needs vivid imagination, scenes transition faster to make the experience more good.)
Splash!!
Blood plastered all over the scene, pieces of the brain scattered in all directions like confetti. By the time Viper had asked the question, the camera was on cue, showing everything that happened, and by no means was anyone ready for what came next.
Nothing moved in that second, not even the birds in the skies. After Lord Gara answered Viper’s question, someone did blow up, but it wasn’t someone they expected it to be. It was Viper, the owner of the skill who got the final blow.
Thud!
His headless body fell to the ground, blood oozing out of his broken neck and falling to the ground.
Even the Breakers at the headquarters were completely robbed of any words.
"Can someone tell me why Viper died instead of Lord Gara?!"
In search of answers, the General kept on shouting nonstop like a mad man, looking at his subordinates who looked up to him for answers.
The crowd in the bar stood frozen at the sight too. So did Leo, staring what perhaps could’ve been his fate if he had lied back then in the meeting room.
What followed was an experience that came consecutively, like a scene in a movie where two people at different locations are saying the same thing and the screen splits into two to capture both of them.
"His attack had no effect on him?"
Someone near Leo in the bar spoke in awe. At the same time, Jennifer in the Breaker hall asked the same question. freёwebnoѵel.com
"No, it’s not that. It worked!"
Leo and Jake spoke at once in different locations.
"Lord Gara didn’t lie, he really doesn’t have any weakness."
They said it in unison. If it would’ve been animated, perhaps their voices would even overlap.
But all in all, the two boys had the right idea about what happened.
Viper’s technique, Judgment, was a terrifying ability that worked on anyone, regardless of how powerful they were. It didn’t matter whether the target was a goddess or an SS-ranked being—the technique would still take effect. That alone made it an ability to fear.
But such overwhelming power came with a price.
Every time Viper used Judgment, he risked suffering a recoil effect. The recoil was fueled by the willpower behind the attack. The stronger the opponent and the stronger Viper’s determination to use the technique, the more devastating the backlash became.
In this case, the recoil was so severe that his head exploded like a piñata.
"Shit, we underestimated them. Order every Breaker to go to the Floors now!!"
The General gave the final order, and just like that, every Breaker in Valoria, no matter their rank, began readying up to go to the Floors. Some carried weapons, others relied on their abilities.
Engines were brought to life, humming vividly under the sunlight. And within only a few minutes, everyone marched to the cars and had already started on their journey.
Leo’s eyes watched it all happen. His mind went into a debate of its own, thinking if he should help them or not. A lot of blood had been shed since the beginning. Even though the people that died weren’t those that stood on his good side, it wasn’t a good excuse.
The screens switched to drone footage that was shooting the video on the moving trucks. There were ten to be exact, each carrying at least twenty armored Breakers.
Among these people were Leo’s old teammates, Jennifer, Sabrina and Jake, looking as tense as ever like un-experienced graduates going into an interview.
Inside the TV studio that controlled everything, someone pressed a button by mistake as his hands trembled in fear. The feed changed to the Number 4 and Number 6 SS Breakers who had teamed up against the male subordinate. Things weren’t looking so good for them either. The meta human had used some kind of string technique that covered the whole battlefield in thin sharp strings that could cut a person’s finger in one go.
The ranked Breakers were completely blown away by the attack, it being the first time they had seen it. The strings made them stand awkwardly. It wasn’t a position you could stand in for a long time, but when your life is on the line, the body makes the impossible possible.
No matter where their eyes went, they met some sort of string that could possibly cut them and cause a fatal wound.
"Now you won’t be able to move."
The meta human spoke. He stood on one of tree branche outside the web of destruction. The attack could injure him too, so he stayed far from its range.
The two ranked Breakers tried everything. They threw fireballs at the strings, but they couldn’t melt them or even burn them at all. They were caught in an embarrassing position without any way out of it.
"Now I shall go back to my lord."
He flew away out of the scene, following Lord Gara’s aura that stretched far into the forest.
"Come back, you bastard! Don’t just go away!"
Killion shouted. Gritting his teeth as his eyes were completely submerged in fury.
"Shut up, Killion. We have been beaten. We just have to accept that."
Joseph, who seemed much more experienced, advised. He looked down in shame, a tear dripping from his eye, sliding down his cheek then falling to the ground. But the words had no effect on Killion. They just passed through his ears as he kept on shouting at an enemy that was long gone into the forest.
Switch!!!
The feed changed to Katelyn, who had cast her Pocket Dimension technique and was now able to sense the invisible blades. She wasn’t quite at the peak of sensing the attacks, but it was better than not sensing them at all. To the outside world it was just an empty ground, but to the ones inside the Realm it was a battleground.
Aisha, the female subordinate, sensed Lord Gara speaking to her through her consciousness, telling her something about how they needed to finish it all quickly and go to the surface.
Almost immediately the look on her face changed. She looked more serious now. Then, like a magician, she vanished from Katelyn’s vision.
"Where is sh—"
She sensed Aisha’s aura in the sky, so Katelyn prepared to dodge any attack high up. But before she could lift her arms up to defend, she felt another aura beneath her, making two presences felt at the same time in different directions.
But Katelyn was experienced enough in combat. She could use her hands to block Aisha’s attack if she decided to come from the air while using her legs if she came from below. But to her surprise, Aisha managed to punch her up while at the same time stabbing her in the gut, wearing a smile the whole way.
"There are two of you?"
Katelyn spoke with confusion on her face, blood oozing out of her stomach.
"No, three."
Sling!
She got stabbed again in the back.
If the first attack didn’t finish her up , the third one did. The dimension slowly disappeared into the air, revealing three identical Aishas standing with maniac smiles on their faces.
"You gave me a good fight, but you are too weak for me." freewēbnoveℓ.com
That was the last thing Aisha said to Katelyn before she retracted her clones and then ran to Lord Gara, leaving Katelyn bleeding on the ground.
Something in Leo’s eyes changed as he watched the events unfold , a flaming fury he did carry for a while. It seemed like the boy who had tamed the Knight of Flames was joining the fight soon.
