Chapter 28: Viper Gets His Chance[1]

"This is the time for revenge, all the souls of the Breakers that got killed will be revenged by this team!"

Derek started narrating again, only that this time they weren’t showing his face because he was no longer in the desert. After Team A was brutally murdered, he called for the officials to move him away from the desert in fear of the meta-humans coming to the surface.

It was pretty ironic when you think about it, the preacher of peace overreacting in fear. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

But besides that, everything was the same. Since there were four cameras capturing the feed.

Derek’s engineering team was controlling who got shown and when.

They even got authorization not to show moments where the enemies were talking about their mission and how they were chased out of Valoria.

"I thought I was going to fight someone powerful. Didn’t think I would have to fight a girl."

The female subordinate spoke, looking at Katelyn like she was trash. She outright underestimated her from the very moment she saw her.

Katelyn did have an appearance that would make you dismiss her as a party person and not someone with military capabilities.

"Don’t count your chickens before they hatch !"

Katelyn began. She was still standing in a fighting stance, preparing for any secret attacks that the meta-human could throw her way.

"I have every capability to take you down. Not even your invisible attacks could hit me."

She paused, letting off her guard.

"But I don’t want to fight, I want to talk to you, understand your reasons for doing all of this. My name is Katelyn, what’s your name?"

A slight wave of hesitation appeared on the woman’s face. It’s not every day that you see an enemy who didn’t want to fight.

"Haha, you little brat. You have the audacity to talk like you’re higher than me. Ever since what that human did, I’ve always hated your kind with all my might."

She bit her teeth as she talked, her voice heavy with bloodlust.

Katelyn reckoned that in that moment, terrible pictures of what happened to them were printing in her mind, bringing back the buried trauma that was long gone.

’Is she talking about the founder?’

"Please tell me, what human are you talking about?"

Katelyn tried to dig deeper, but every question only raised the subordinate’s trauma through the roof until eventually she snapped.

"Ahhhh!"

The meta-human rushed at Katelyn as they engaged in combat, swinging violent fists and kicks at her with frequent motion.

But the pattern of her attacks wasn’t as polished as Katelyn expected them to be. Not because she didn’t know how to fight, but because the conversation they had made her more emotional. It was a testament that whatever happened to them was so bad that it still affected her years later, which made the information more priceless and raised Katelyn’s curiosity to the maximum.

’I don’t feel good about this, but I have to do it before she collects herself and uses those blade attacks.’

Katelyn baited the meta-human, leaving an opening on her face.

And just as planned, she fell for it hook, line, and sinker. The meta-human pushed all her strength into one punch aimed at Katelyn’s face, little did she know that in return, she made an opening on her ribs.

Katelyn was quick to utilize it. Just like an MMA fighter, she knee-kicked her in the ribs, sending her falling back and slamming into one of the trees.

Before Katelyn could follow her up with another attack, the meta-human quickly collected herself, standing up like the attack had done nothing to her.

Katelyn couldn’t quite pinpoint it, but she could feel that something about the meta-human had changed, from her aura coming off more practical and structured to the way she was standing. She wasn’t the trauma-filled woman anymore.

"Thank you for that attack. Now I am level headed ."

With the sides of the robe she wore, she cleaned the dirt off her face and the parts of her body that were covered in dirt.

"You asked for my name, didn’t you? It’s Aisha. When you get to hell, tell the devil who sent you."

Quickly, she threw her invisible blade attacks, only that this time her hands moved while doing it.

The blades rushed with top speed cutting through the air , attacks that Katelyn could neither see nor hear. She was basically blind when attacked with the technique.

Katelyn stayed oblivious for a second, looking clueless, but quickly corrected herself as if someone had flicked a switch on.

Then instead of the blades cutting her flesh like sushi, their speed in the air reduced.

And suddenly, if she concentrated that much, Katelyn could sense the blades moving.

So she followed her instincts and lowered her body to the ground.

Just a second later, the blades passed her, cutting down a few trees that were unfortunate enough to be caught in the line of attack.

Aisha’s eyes looked in away that silently asked Katelyn how she dodged the attack.

"It’s simple."

She jumped up to her feet using her hands like a spring.

"You’re inside my technique, Pocket Dimension. Now those invisible attacks of yours aren’t invisible anymore."

Viper constantly moved around Lord Gara, who stood in the middle without any kind of motion.

Viper attacked him by throwing little blades that were the size of kitchen knives but carried far more destructive capabilities.

From the beginning, he had always wanted the fight to be long-range, so that’s what he was doing.

Truthfully speaking, the blades weren’t doing any damage since Lord Gara pretty much dodged each and every one of them. If one was able to get close to his defense, he would just touch it and it would disappear into ash.

But still, Viper never stopped because the knives weren’t the real attack. They were just a setup for Viper to use his final attack.

Suddenly—

Thud!

Lord Gara began moving too, running closer to Viper, wanting to make it a short-range encounter. Perhaps he had seen that Viper had the intention of dragging out the fight.

The two men began exchanging punches.

Lord Gara tried to touch Viper’s fists, but using his sleekness, Viper escaped his grasp.

Then, for extra precaution, he jumped back a few steps to create some room between them.

"Human, I don’t have any intention fighting any longer."

Lord Gara spoke. He meant to sound annoyed, but his face never showed any kind of emotion.

"You can’t blame me though. If you touched me, then I would be a goner."

He snapped his neck as clicks followed every turn.

"Say, can you help me with something ... what is your weakness?"

Viper finally initiated his technique on Lord Gara. His eyes stayed on him, his ears sharper than ever.

Even the panel that had initiated the plan held on tight. This was the center of their plan after all. So far, everything had gone as expected.

What was left was for the meta-human to answer.

"My... weakness."

Lord Gara mouthed slowly like he was thinking about it, increasing the anticipation of everyone who was watching, be it a Breaker or a normal citizen.

"I... I don’t have any weakness!"

Booom!
