Chapter 23: Trouble !::Part 1
"Hello ladies and gentlemen watching me from all parts of Valoria."
Derek, the famous journalist, spoke outloud, the Fort News logo plastered around the black microphone.
He stood in the desert near where the large hole that led to the floor was, the sandy wind from the desert blasting right on his delicate handsome face.
"As I said when we were coming here, a group of five students have been selected to venture into the floors until they reach floor number ten, in a never seen before live feed to all you citizens out there!"
Derek continued with his charismatic tone.
Just next to him were the selected five Breakers all in their white army uniforms. Teenagers that Leo couldn’t forget their faces even if he tried. They were Team A, that the driver had assigned when they were about to take their awakening test just days ago, the very same team that had the SS-ranked guy as their leader.
"They are really trying their best to convince us that the floors aren’t a threat to the surface."
One man near Leo muttered, taking a sip of his beer as he enjoyed the entertainment.
For a second Leo’s attention had fallen on the people in the bar. He knew if he ever wanted to catch up to what was happening, he needed to listen to what the drinkers would say.
"I wouldn’t worry about that mate, as long as they can pass to the tenth floor without any hiccup, there is nothing wrong with me."
A man with a British accent chipped in.
"You’re right, if a bunch of newbies can do it, then it has to be safe."
A woman weighed in with her opinion as well, the sound of Derek chatting with the SS-ranked guy echoing in the background.
Leo’s thoughts had started coming together now, a web of points connecting together like a puzzle.
He remembered what the officials had told him when they were in the trial along with Jennifer.
"If the news of the Knight of Flames going up spreads, then it would create chaos."
The words echoed in his mind, still carrying the gritty unfair tone that the owner of the words had said them with.
’So the news did bring chaos, and to cool them down they want to show everyone that the floors are not dangerous. They could’ve sent experienced Breakers like the top ten, but people would blame their skills and say it was scripted. And they couldn’t have sent weaklings either because they would make the Breakers look weak. That’s why they sent these guys. They are newbies but strong enough. For old guys they sure are intelligent.’
Leo figured as he once again began rubbing his hairless chin.
On the screen, the SS-ranked guy whose name was Rudo by the way, boasted about his abilities continuously, saying that he had received the award for most promising newbie in the graduation ceremony that had happened days ago.
His teammates helped push his ego even higher, boasting about how strong their teamwork was.
And they weren’t lying. They were the first squad to finish the awakening test.
After speaking for some time, the five finally jumped in, accompanied by a camera crew consisting of one Breakers who was strictly told not to aid the five in any way possible.
For the first time, people who never had abilities had a chance to see what the Breakers experienced when jumping inside the hole.
Wind blasted at the team’s hair as their eyes marked the deep end of the hole.
They kept their cool the whole journey, unlike Leo’s squad where Jennifer screamed the whole way.
After slamming into the energy mirror, they finally appeared on the first floor.
Wows filled the whole bar, eyes looking surprised as hell.
But Leo understood their situation. In their eyes, they were seeing it for the first time, the large dungeon with two portals connected to it. On the tunnel walls were glowing pointy rocks.
Just seeing it again brought memories into Leo’s mind.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the transportation was a success!"
Derek screamed out of breath.
He was going to be narrating like it was a football match the whole journey for the audience at home, so it was his job to make them feel as much in the action as possible.
"Alright, let’s get this over with. We have been given two hours to clear the floors."
Rudo, the SS-ranked newbie, spoke to the rest.
Swiftly they crossed into one of the tunnels on the right, the same kind that Leo’s team had chosen.
They passed through the dark tunnels that only had a humid glow from the strange rocks as a light source, then arrived in the dungeon that was full of Hellhounds.
"Hey, those beasts are so scary and there are more than forty too. Will the newbies manage to defeat them all?"
Derek tightened the tension that the audience had even further.
Some people in the bar bit their teeth while others held onto their bottles tightly like they planned to break them into pieces.
Rudo moved forward from the rest of the group, smiling at the camera the whole way like he was some kind of model.
"Don’t worry, I will deal with them using my SS Level 1 Skill!"
His loud shout alarmed the Hellhounds.
Immediately they rushed at him together with amazing speed, their tongues hanging out of their mouths with hunger.
But even with that, Rudo never did anything. He just stood there like he wasn’t afraid of them in the least.
"They are coming mate!"
"Kill those fucking hounds!" ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
The audience in the bar cheered loudly like they themselves were in the action.
When the Hellhounds were finally a few feet away from him, Rudo activated his Level 1 Skill.
"Nails of Death!"
Suddenly large spears rose from the ground with violent force, pushing upward and stabbing through the chests and heads of every Hellhound that came their way.
Derek was the first to scream with excitement.
"He did it!!!"
The people in the bar screamed at once like their national team had finally scored a tie-breaker. Some hugged each other while others took another chug of their beer.
"Awesome!!"
"This kid is really a big deal!!"
Whispers of praise erupted from the crowd, growing with every person that entered the bar to get a drink.
’This dude really knows his theatrics.’
Leo thought as his face looked bored.
’Gotta give it to them though, I finally understand how they managed to cover the floors faster than everyone. And his skill is destructive too, befitting of an SS-ranked ability.’
Derek’s voice of excitement continued coming out of the speaker, and Rudo could feel it in that moment. People had finally begun to realize his power.
An exit door to the second floor appeared immediately and, after bowing to the audience for some seconds, the team finally went to the second floor without hesitation.
The very floor that Leo’s team had met the Knight of Flames that killed one of them.
Everyone in that second was tense with fear, but as it crowded their hearts they remembered they had nothing to fear since Rudo’s team were too strong for anything to stop them.

All the other Breakers had gathered in their own hall where they watched the live broadcast.
Everyone watched the feed with extreme focus as they sat in their cinema chairs.
At the back of the hall were Jake, Sabrina, and Jennifer sitting in the corner like some outcasts of the group. Perhaps the trauma was still running through them
Jake’s other arm was replaced by a mechanical arm which was covered by his uniform and some gloves he used to cover his hands. He wasn’t yet acquainted with the feeling of having no arm, so he didn’t want anyone to know.
"Guys, you see that?"
Jake started.
Immediately, the attention of the girls shifted to him.
"Those Hellhounds, they didn’t disappear like what happened with us."
Their eyes widened with surprise as well, as they wondered how they might’ve missed such a small detail.
Jake continued with focus in his eyes.
"There was something strange with our turn, and by the look of things, it wasn’t a coincidence."
