Chapter 83: Chapter 83: The Blood Moon Sect
"Rejoice." Overseer Jiang swept his gaze over the rest of the participants and waved his hands. "Everyone has proved themself to the sect. Prove that you are worthy of becoming a senior servant and take on more serious responsibilities of the sect."
His expression remained completely indifferent.
"From this day forward, you will leave this servant district behind. The place you have lived in for the past year... is not the Blood Moon Sect."
"It is merely the outer settlement. The real sect lies beyond the marketplace."
He paused only long enough to let the words sink in before his tone became even colder. "As for what awaits you there... you’ll find out soon enough."
Overseer Jiang let out a bored sigh.
"That’s all you need to know." He clearly had no interest in explaining anything further.
He did not care whether they were happy, anguished, or even impatient to go home and do something kinky to celebrate.
He had weeded out the trash, and that was the end of his responsibilities. Now it was time for him to move on to the next batch.
"Take them away."
Immediately, dozens of Senior Servants stepped forward.
They moved through the crowd with practiced efficiency, separating the newly recruited servants from Shen Yuan’s batch.
One trembling boy instinctively stepped backwards.
"I... I don’t want—"
A Senior Servant grabbed him by the collar before he could finish.
"Walk."
"I have parents—"
"No, you don’t. We picked you up from a male brothel." The Senior Servant shoved him forward without another word. "So either your parents are dead or they don’t care that you are alive."
The newcomers quickly realized they had no choice. One after another, they were dragged toward the servant district.
It did not matter if they cried or begged.
After the last of the newcomers had been taken away, Overseer Jiang finally looked toward Shen Yuan’s batch.
"You have one hour. Collect whatever worthless belongings you’ve been hoarding."
"When the hour is over, follow the Senior Servants."
"If you’re late... stay here." His voice remained completely emotionless. He neither threatened them nor encouraged them.
He just did not care. Without waiting for a response, Overseer Jiang turned around and walked off the platform.
The fat overseer scratched his cheek. "...You’re leaving already?"
"I’m done."
"But they’re still—"
"They’re not my problem anymore." Overseer Jiang didn’t even look back.
"They belong to the sect now."
"How cold." The female overseer chuckled before looking at Shen Yuan one last time. After a Quick Look she turned around and followed behind him.
The fat overseer also sighed before joining them.
The crowd gradually dispersed.
The newly recruited servants were dragged toward the servant district like livestock being herded into a slaughterhouse.
Shen Yuan’s batch headed in the opposite direction.
Some hurried back to their rooms, afraid someone might steal the few valuables they had managed to accumulate over the past year.
Others immediately began discussing what the inner sect would be like.
Shen Yuan simply turned around and walked into the forest. ’I should take a bath... and say goodbye to Bear too.’
The familiar trail felt strangely quiet beneath his feet.
Sunlight filtered through the canopy, illuminating the countless footprints left behind by spirit beasts over the years.
After walking for several minutes, Shen Yuan reached the clearing where he had last seen the scar-faced wolf.
"..."
It was empty.
Only a few gray strands of fur remained scattered across the ground.
Shen Yuan slowly crouched and picked one up. It still carried a faint trace of the wolf’s aura.
"Is it out hunting? Well, I cannot delay any longer than I can.’ Shen Yuan turned to walk towards the lake right behind him.
Shen Yuan removed his blood-soaked robes before stepping into the cold water.
The crimson stains quickly dissolved into the current and drifted downstream.
He washed away the dirt, dried blood, and lingering smell of death before climbing back onto the riverbank.
Although the scars across his body remained...
He no longer looked like someone who had crawled out from a mountain of corpses.
After putting on a clean set of robes, Shen Yuan returned to the servant district just as the hour came to an end.
"We are moving now." One of the senior servants shouted before he took charge and led the group slowly towards the entrance of the marketplace.
The bustling market unfolded, but unlike before, people were stopping to look at them.
"Is it about time?"
"Woah, look at them. I wish; it’s like I am back in my young days."
"Woah, look at that guy. He looks so handsome. Are those scars on his body?"
"Man! Something just slipped down my thighs."
"Bro! Wtf?"
"Oh, Shut it."
People were looking at them like they were pets in a zoo. Everyone was admiring them.
Shen Yuan suddenly noticed the group turning in a familiar lane and raised his head.
There it was...The Fallen Blossom Pavilion.
The countless windows where women sat, watching their group walk by and passing flirtatious looks. The faint voice of music drifted out from the inside, like an alluring siren’s voice trying to drag them inside.
Among the women sitting near the windows, Shen Yuan noticed a familiar face.
Candy.
The petite black-haired woman with silky black hair and large eyes was just sitting there with a lost look on her face while playing with the jade bracelet he had given her as a gift.
As if sensing their arrival, she turned her head to look at the group, and instantly her eyes locked with Shen Yuan’s. The worry in her eyes faded away instantly, replaced with a charming smile that made several of the servants stop in their tracks.
"Did you look at that? She was smiling at me."
"Come on, dude, don’t be so delusional. It was clear from the angle of her eyesight along with the trajectory of the place she stood that she was looking at no one but me."
"You almost had me believing you until you said the last part."
Shen Yuan nodded at Candy before looking ahead, appearing indifferent. But his actions did not make Candy feel mad at all. She just realized he wanted to keep their dealings a secret.
"But that does not mean I will let it go so easily. After all, you are the only man who ever came into my room and took my tub away.’
...
"This is it." After crossing the market, the group of senior servants arrived at a desolate land where there was nothing but empty road.
The end of the road was a cliff shrouded in thick clouds that prevented them from seeing anything beyond them.
There was one more thing at the top of the cliff. It was a towering stone gate with no walls or door. It stood tall in all its majesty, carved in colorful jades and metals that glowed ominously.
There were images of demons and weapons on the pillars of the gate with two dragons, one on each side. Their mouths rose up to the head of the gates, where the wooden plank hung.
On it, there were words carved from a special glowing crimson color that read, Blood Moon Sect.
The leading servant stopped at the edge of the cliff, right under the gate, and turned around. "If you thought that you had been living in a dangerous place, you are in for a mad awakening. Beyond these gates is where you will see real hell."
"So prepare yourselves and step through."
