Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Nothing Goes To Waste

Seeing Shen Yuan stepping out of the forest, not only Overseer Jiang but even Shi Jin smiled as though they had been waiting for him to appear for a very long time.

The smile on Shen Yuan’s face widened.

"What?" He looked around at the countless eyes staring at him. "Never seen a handsome young man before?"

Several servants instinctively flinched.

Even some older servants who had survived years in the Blood Moon Sect unconsciously took a half step backwards.

The smell of fresh blood surrounding Shen Yuan...

Combined with the killing intent leaking from his body...

Made him seem less like a sixteen-year-old servant and more like a beast that had just crawled out of a battlefield.

Overseer Jiang was the first to recover.

"What are all of you staring at?" His cold voice exploded across the square. "Do you all want to die?"

The servants immediately lowered their heads.

"Who gave you permission to speak? Keep your mouths shut unless you’re asked to answer."

The entire square instantly fell silent.

The fat overseer blinked twice.

He had originally assumed Overseer Jiang was scolding Shen Yuan for speaking out of turn.

Instead...

He was yelling at everyone else.

The graceful woman besides him noticed it as well.

The two of them exchanged a puzzled glance.

"..."

’Interesting.’ The fat overseer rubbed his chin before looking towards Shen Yuan once more.

"So..." A playful smile spread across his face. "Is this one of your selected seedlings?"

Overseer Jiang merely snorted. He neither confirmed nor denied it. He simply folded his hands behind his back and remained silent.

But that alone was enough of an answer for them.

The fat overseer’s eyes narrowed.

The woman also studied Shen Yuan more carefully than before.

They could both tell Overseer Jiang valued this young man.

But why? Apart from being covered in blood and possessing an unusually fierce killing intent, there was nothing special about him.

He looked the same as the rest of the servants who had just managed to reach the Qi Condensation Realm.

Yet Overseer Jiang’s attitude towards him was clearly different from everyone else’s.

Neither of them could understand it.

The matter quietly remained in the back of their minds.

Meanwhile, Shen Yuan calmly walked towards the rows of servants.

No one stopped him. They even stepped aside to make space for him. One after another, servants create an empty circle around him.

Fresh blood continued dripping from his torn robes onto the stone floor. His wounds had already closed up, but they could see several scars on his body that had yet to heal.

His appearance and the axe resting on his shoulder only made him look more terrifying.

On the platform, Overseer Jiang slowly stepped forward.

Shing!

His sword left its sheath with a crisp metallic ring that echoed throughout the Deathly Square.

The countless whispers immediately disappeared.

Even the newly recruited servants instinctively held their breaths.

"This ceremony will be short." Overseer Jiang spoke without the slightest emotion. "Those standing before you have served the Blood Moon Sect for one year. Some survived. Some grew stronger. Others... failed."

His cold gaze swept across the trembling servants who had failed to reach the Qi Condensation Realm.

"In the Blood Moon Sect, failure is not forgiven."

He slowly turned towards the newly recruited servants standing behind them.

"Look carefully."

"Because if you fail to meet the sect’s expectations, this will become your future."

The newcomers turned pale. Some of the boys and girls clenched their fists and bit their lips until they bled while the others simply lowered their heads in fear, unable to look any longer.

Overseer Jiang slowly raised his sword above his head.

The surrounding spiritual qi immediately surged towards the blade.

Thin crimson strands began gathering around its tip.

Within seconds, hundreds of strands gathered on the top of his sword and intertwined around one another like the petals of a blooming crimson flower.

The pressure alone caused many of the newly recruited servants to struggle to breathe.

Then...

Overseer Jiang casually swung his sword downward.

Bloom!

The flower of qi exploded.

Hundreds of crimson strands shot across the square in every direction.

Pfft! Pfft!

Pfft!

Each strand accurately pierced through the forehead of a servant who had failed to reach the Qi Condensation Realm.

Not a single one missed.

The servants froze where they stood before collapsing one after another.

Thud.

Most of them died without even realising they had been executed.

However, Overseer Jiang intentionally spared a few extra strands.

Boom!

One servant’s upper body exploded into a rain of flesh and shattered bones. Another burst apart from the waist upward, painting the surrounding ground crimson.

"Ahh!!!" The newly recruited servants screamed in terror. They fell to the ground, falling like madmen who had lost their minds and started thrashing around.

Others vomited where they stood.

The smell of blood instantly filled the entire square.

The massacre had not ended yet.

Several crimson strands suddenly changed direction and shot towards the servant district.

Moments later...

Screams echoed from the buildings in the distance.

Pfft!

"Some of the servants think they are clever, and if they can hide in their place, they will survive, but they are wrong. No one can escape the laws of the Bloody Moon Sect." The qi strands pierced through doors, walls and windows without slowing down, ending their lives before they even had the chance to beg for mercy.

Silence returned to the Deathly Square.

Overseer Jiang snapped his fingers, and tens of old servants dressed in white robes with blue stripes and grey waistbands stepped out of the marketplace and moved with practiced precision.

They gathered the bodies of those who had been killed instantly from the square and the servant districts.

"Take them away and distribute their bodies to the alchemy division and the research divisions."

Overseer Jiang ordered the servants as they loaded the bodies on a wooden carriage before taking them inside while waving his hand in the air to gather the rest of the blood and matter spread on the ground.

"The leftovers will be sent to the main hall, where the outer sect elders will take care of them; you know the rest."

He pulled out a metallic disc from his robes, which had weird symbols etched on it, and pushed his qi through it.

The blood gathered in his other hand moved to the disc before it started to boil.

Wisps of smoke came out of the blood before it was turned into a bunch of crimson-coloured spherical-shaped pills.

He raised his head and looked at the servants and said, "Nothing In this place goes to waste, even waste."
