Chapter 186: Looking for a woman

And just the fact that she would be working for Daisy completely set her heart at ease. She knew that she did not have to worry about her past chasing her. She was certain that what happened at her previous job would not happen again. She could sharpen her skills and focus on her work and rest would fall in place.

’’Daisy, I have never been more certain about anything.’’

A small smile appeared on Daisy’s face when she heard that, ’’I welcome you to Chen Corporations.’’

’’Thanks, Your Highness,’’ Ivy said, still a bit stunned by Daisy’s blinding smile. Since Daisy had a gorgeous appearance, the lack of her smile was never noticed but now that she smiled, it just magnified her beauty, ’’If I may ask...’’

’’Hmm?" Seeing her solemn expression, Daisy straightened up, thinking that Ivy had some serious doubts.

’’Is that the glow of Mr. Harper?" Ivy burst into laughter as she watched a certain CEO sinking into speechlessness.

Daisy glared at the girl once she came out of her daze.

At this moment, there were two consecutive knocks on the door.

’’Elder miss, are you inside?" The Butler’s urgent voice came from outside.

’’Come in,’’ As Daisy watched the butler rushing inside the room with with a tense face, she asked, ’’Is everything alright?"

When he heard of that, the man raised an exquisite white invitation card, ’’It’s the wedding anniversary of the Master and Madam of Lu family. So, the Lu family has extended their invitation to young miss.’’

Daisy briefly checked the invitation before she put it aside. The party was set to be held two days later.

Seeing Daisy’s calm expression, the butler’s restless heart briefly calmed down too but he still asked her, ’’Elder Miss, will you go there?"

Daisy nodded.

’’But... with our history with the Lu family... Elder Miss, it’s not really appropriate for you to go there. We don’t know what they are up to. They had obviously fallen out with us but now they are extending an invitation to you. They must be conspiring something,’’ the butler was one of the oldest members of the family so he did not hesitate to speak his heart out.

And his concerns were valid but with the current cooperation with Lu Family, Daisy knew she had to go there.

If this invitation was extended by Lu Xian, then she had few things to worry about. Although the man was unpredictable and whimsical but she was at least to some extent with familiar with his ways.

One of the sons of Lu Family was sick so he would not be there and their third young master was the person with whom she was betrothed but in the end, she had run away from the marriage. So, she doubted that if Master Lu, Madam Lu and their youngest son had some schemes.

In the end, Daisy did not put much thought into it. No matter what it was, she would know when she went there and she had no qualms about it.

’’Don’t worry. I will be cautious,’’ she still consoled the butler who was looking at her with a worried expression.

Ryle was pacing in the mansion. The place was shrouded in darkness. After some time, he felt restless by the darkness and picked up a remote, pressing a switch. The blinds covering the glass mansion were gradually lifted and the place was brightly lit up immediately.

Soon the main door opened and Benjamin strode in before greeting the man. He had rushed here as soon as he got the news that the man had reached his mansion an hour ago.

There was a trace of impatience on Ryle’s face when he saw Benjamin, ’’Where is she?"

’’She should be on the way,’’ Benjamin approached the man, ’’We had been discreet this time. So we arranged an ordinary looking cab to bring the person. A team of elite bodyguards are accompanying them so it should be no problem this time.’’

Ryle nodded, ’’How did you...’’ he did not finish the sentence but Benjamin understood that the man was asking how they knew that they had gotten the right person.

’’President, she is one of the women who had been abused by that syndicate. After we attacked their nests and succeeded in destroying many of them, we had managed to rescue all those women. These days, we have tried hard to investigate them all and the only person who matches the description of the person is her. There is a high chance that she is the one you are looking for.

Ryle did not say anything after that. He hoped so too. ’’I hope that she is the one I am looking for.’’

Benjamin felt a sense of indignation for Daisy. He did not know the reason his Boss had been looking for this woman. But this is not a new mission. In fact, the entire Harper Societies was established to act as a force that could find that woman. So, the obvious significance of the woman in their Boss’s heart was unshakable.

But he was obviously chasing after Miss Chen some time ago. And now that there was news about that woman, what would happen to Miss Chen if their Boss determined that they had gotten the right person. Be it from her age, or from her looks, Benjamin could not even determine that the woman was a long lost relative of their Boss’s.

She obviously seemed more like a childhood sweetheart. If Boss had to be in a constant search for his childhood sweetheart then why did he even engage with Miss Chen?

But in the end, he knew that it was not his place in any way to question his Boss’s actions so even though he had these doubts in his heart, he kept those in his heart.

Soon, a row of black cars stopped in front if the driveway followed by an ordinary looking cab. And there were a row of cars behind the cab as well. At one glance, it was obvious how carefully this person was being protected.

The door to the cab was opened by a guard and soon a woman appeared in everyone’s views. The woman’s long hair framed her face and her shoulders seemed to be trembling. There was an imminent fearful aura around her.

Ryle’s brows tugged together and he almost stepped out of the mansion to approach her but in the end he stayed put in his place and did not move. No matter how anxious he was, he was determined to confirm the person’s identity before coming to any conclusion.

So, he stepped back and took a seat on the couch as he watched the woman being escorted inside the mansion.

The woman slowly raised her head when the guards stopped escorting her. When the stray hairstrands that covered her face fell back, a delicate face came into everyone’s views.

The guards greeted Ryle and when the man raised his hand and waved it, they all left. Even Benjamin hesitated to ask if he should stay or leave but Ryle’s hand did not go down, so he took it as a cue to leave.

Ryle glanced at the woman’s face keenly as if he was trying to find something.

’’You don’t have to scared,’’ Ryle’s brows tugged together, ’’I have no intention of harming you in any way.’’

When she heard that, the woman met Ryle’s gaze. Her eyes widened briefly. She did not dare to believe it. She had been abused so much in the past together with the other sisters in that den of monsters that she did not dare to believe any powerful man would be kind enough to not harm her. Because she had nothing to offer. If they did not want something from her, then why did they send such a huge group of people to surround her and bring her here?

Ryle could see the fear in the woman’s eyes and he knew that she did not believe him. And he was not the person to comfort anyone but if she was the person he was looking for, then he did not want to scare her in any way. So, he calmly spoke again, ’’They brought you here because I am looking for someone.’’
