Chapter 131: Brother-in-law?

The four people had their lunch together.

Daisy invited Aunty Lu to tag along but the woman said she had to go to the supermarket to fetch some stuff so she would eat outside on her way back.

Meanwhile, throughout the meal, Diana kept looking at Daisy and Ryle with her wide emerald eyes, the look holding a striking resemblance to Angel’s.

Daisy cleared her throat, slightly awkward under her sister’s scrutinizing gaze, ’’Why didn’t you tell me you were coming over?"

"Because nobody told me you are staying over,’’ Diana smiled cheekily.

Like a natural movement, she felt a broad palm on her back as a glass of water appeared in front of her eyes.

Diana’s eyes were as wide as saucers as she glanced at the spectacular view of Ryle stroking her sister’s back and even helping her drink water.

Daisy snatched the glass from his hand and calmly took a few sips.

Diana looked at Maxim. Her face screamed ’controversy. controversy. Tell me what is happening’.

Maxim’s lips twitched. He had seen their interaction when Angel was in the hospital and they looked nothing less than a couple but he was the least bit interested in it.

Diana speechless ate the meat and glanced at Angel who was watching the TV like an obedient little doll.

She could not help but wonder if she could have gotten some juicy details from Angel had she not been so small.

But Diana’s thirst for gossip was soon quenched.

After lunch, Ryle and Maxim left the ladies alone to talk and went to Ryle’s room.

Daisy led Diana to "her" room along with Angel who tagged along.

Diana was astonished. She had stayed in this house for some time in the past under special circumstances hence she was familiar with every depressing shade of this place. But the place seemed to have gotten itself a complete makeover.

And on top of that, the room that Daisy led her to was undoubtedly the Master bedroom, ’’You...’’

Diana stroked her protruding belly as she sat on the bed to get a grip on herself. As the gears in her head turned, Daisy could not help but tap her head, ’’Stop running your head around,’’ Diana’s face screamed ’I am cooking my fantasies to the fullest’.

"The last time we met at my place for dinner, I still remember you being so wary of Ryle. How come I feel like things have changed?" Diana clicked her tongue.

’’There is nothing like that.’’

’’During the annual party in Beijing, the man that you kissed, it wasn’t Lu Xian, right?" Diana narrowed her eyes when she saw the faint redness creeping up Daisy’s cheeks as if just the thought of it made her shy.

Daisy Chen, the woman who stayed far away from men, was blushing at the mention of one man.

Diana felt like her worldview had changed, ’’I thought of every other possibility that night, except for Ryle. I thought he was the last man you would ever see in that manner.’’

For a person who hated men, Diana had thought that it would be very difficult for her sister to find a man whom she could bring herself to like in the first place.

Yet the man whom she seemed to hate the most would become her choice was what stunned her.

’’Enough with that,’’ Daisy sat beside her in an attempt to change the topic.

But Diana was not going to let her off anytime soon.

"So tell me, shall I start seeing a potential brother-in-law in Ryle?" Diana felt like the question held great importance.

After all, she and Ryle often got on each other’s nerves unabashedly. But if the man was going to marry her sister one day, she had to treat him with a certain amount of decency at least as the younger sister-in-law. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"Did you look into it?" Maxim asked Ryle as soon as they stepped inside.

Beneath the front of lunch, there was another reason why Ryle had invited Maxim and Diana over. A few days ago, Maxim had asked Ryle to look into a matter related to the Qin Family.

’’I found something that both your father and grandfather have kept under wraps for decades now. I am not sure if you would want to know about it,’’ Ryle shrugged a shoulder.

’’If I did not want to know, I would not have asked you to look into the matter,’’ The Qin Family was harmonious actually and Maxim got along pretty well with the whole family.

But there were some unavoidable matters.

’’Are you doing it for Hazel?" Ryle questioned.

Maxim did not answer.

Ryle knew that there was no other reason why Maxim would ask him to investigate those old matters. He did not have any interest in the inheritance or family business and despite reuniting with his family, he was not intricately involved with them.

But after Hazel, Maxim’s mother, married his father, the situation was different. A year or so ago, the Qin Family had one heir, Alex Qin, who was doted on by both Master Qin and Old Master Qin, who were Maxim’s and Alex’s father and grandfather.

But in a year, the entire power dynamics in the family had shifted. The Qin Family found their eldest son, Louis, and eldest grandson Logan who had been working for Maxim for years in a disguised identity. Then Maxim was also acknowledged by them.

Alex was not happy with the circumstances however he could not vent things on Maxim whom he had developed a close relationship. Hence, he shifted his ire to Maxim’s mother, blaming her for having an affair with a committed man and getting pregnant with Maxim all those years ago.

What Ryle discovered might cause another period of chaos in the Qin Family if Maxim decided to confront it.

Sighing, he walked towards the bedside table but he paused when he did not see the file there. ’’I will get the file for you.’’
