Chapter 130: Kept me in the dark

"Ryle?" Daisy glanced at the man who seemed to be lost in his thoughts.

Ryle wrapped his arms around her waist as he hugged her, ’’My mother was worried I would have no one to talk to after her so she left me a parrot.’’

Daisy frowned as she looked at the parrot, ’’It doesn’t seem that old...’’ freewёbnoνel.com

"The one she got for me got sick and died in a few months.’’

Daisy leaned into his arms and did not say anything.

’’Mommy...’’

The silence in the room was broken by a soft sleepy voice.

Daisy stiffened.

One did not know when little Angel woke up but when she opened her eyes and saw the two people hugging each other, her chin wobbled.

The little girl scooted closer to them and her tiny fingers seemed to be trying to grab Ryle’s arm, ’’Raeel..’’

’’Let me go,’’ Daisy was about to push the man’s hand away to get off his body but his arm remained firm around her waist.

His other hand went to wrap around the little girl who immediately climbed on him and pressed her tiny face on his chest, her animated eyes shimmering at being included in the ’’hug’’ session.

Daisy closed her eyes helplessly.

As Ryle looked at her face, he refrained himself from laughing, afraid that she would be provoked.

’Knock Knock’

Hearing the sounds of the consecutive knocks, Daisy immediately scrambled off Ryle’s body without giving him the opportunity to hold her back.

Ryle arched an eyebrow and slowly got up from his sleeping position. As he leaned back on the headboard and brought Angel to his lap, Daisy cleared her throat and fixed her dress, ’’Come in.’’

’’Daisy, were you still sleeping? I wanted to wake you up for breakfast. Master also left without eating. It’s not ideal for you to skip your meals...’’ the woman was speaking when she entered the room and saw Daisy standing by the edge of the bed.

But her words trailed off when she caught another presence inside the room as well.

She looked at the man, whom she thought had already left for work and her jaws dropped slightly as she saw him playing with the little girl in his arms.

’’We will be coming over,’’ Daisy cleared her throat, sympathizing with the woman in her heart.

Clearly, Aunty Lu had an entirely different image of Ryle in her heart, and with every action of his, it seemed to be evolving or crumbling for better or for worse, Daisy had no idea.

...

It was way past noon when Daisy and Angel were sitting on the couch in the living room. The little girl was watching cartoons on television.

Daisy was checking some old hacking servers that she had frequented back in the past.

As for Ryle who was working beside them, was peeking at the mother and daughter every once in a while, ’’You plan to continue?" he could not help but ask when he saw what Daisy was doing.

After all, in the world ranking list, she came in the top 3 ranks of hackers on the dark web. The inclusion of that information in her CV was also one of the things that had made him pay attention to ’’Dexter’’ in the sea of people who had applied for the position of his secretary.

Daisy shook her head, ’’Troublesome.’’

Dark web was mostly illegal and she had extricated herself from most of it after she had Angel.

’’I thought you liked troublesome things,’’ Ryle took a peek at Angel who was engrossed in the show she was watching.

Daisy stiffened, feeling his hand settling on her back as they sat on the couch, his fingers slowly moved down to her waist, ’’Or don’t you?"

’’Master, I have almost prepared the things that you have mentioned in the list. Is there anything else I should add for lunch?"

Daisy pressed her back on the couch when she heard Aunty Lu’s voice from behind. And in the movement, she ended up trapping Ryle’s hand between the couch and her arms.

The man’s fingers drew deliberate circles on her waist but his face remained straight as he responded to Aunty Lu, ’’No need.’’

Once the woman left, Daisy swatted away his insolent hand.

’’A list for the lunch?’’ She could not help but ask him curiously, ’’Are you receiving guests today?"

’’What do you think?" Ryle arched an eyebrow.

’’You should be,’’ Daisy frowned, ’’Why didn’t you tell me beforehand? Angel and I could have stayed in some hotel for some time..."

"Why?"

"What do you mean why?" Daisy blinked, ’’Because isn’t it awkward?"

’’Why would it be?" Ryle pushed the files in his hand to the other side before. He gently pressed a palm on Angel’s ear and pulled her into his arms, her other ear being covered by his body, ’’Why do I need to hide you? Are you my mistress?"

Daisy’s lips twitched.

She was about to argue when the doorbell rang, rendering her speechless. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

The guests even seemed to be there right on time.

The moment the door opened, an audible gasp made Daisy, who was closing the laptop stop in her movements.

’’Mama... Papa...’’ Little Angel jumped off the couch and ran towards the door with her tiny footsteps.

Diana, who was still in shock, somehow managed to ruffle her hair before she proceeded to walk towards Daisy in shock.

Maxim carried the little girl in his arms.

Angel being Angel immediately seemed to have changed favorites as she played with Maxim’s hair coyly, ’’Papa... Papa...’’

Ryle who had found it adorable when the little girl called him by his name suddenly had a bitter taste in his mouth, ’’Why does she address you as Papa?"

’’Because Ana is her mama,’’ Maxim gave him a ’you know I am a family man, right?’

"_"

After recovering from her initial shock, Daisy quickly rushed to Diana to support her.

Diana had a huge bulging belly, and the seven months of pregnancy were quite apparent.

Probably because Daisy had not seen her in the past few months, she felt like Diana looked rather different.

Happier, prettier, and more cheerful than she had ever been.

’’You... I can walk just perfectly on my own,’’ Diana was the least bit interested in her condition, ’’Where is the tea?"

’’What tea?"

"Your tea, Daisy, your tea. What are you doing at Ryle’s place?" Before Daisy could answer, Diana did a quick lookover of Daisy’s outfit, her laptop, her slippers, Angel, Angel’s little bunny-eared slippers, and then she looked back at Daisy again after finishing her survey, "You guys are living together?" her voice was not that low.

And she spoke just in time when both the men also got to hear her question.

All eyes were on Daisy out of nowhere.

Daisy looked at Ryle for help but the man averted his gaze as if the whole matter had nothing to do with him.

’’There was a situation..’’ Daisy briefly explained the series of events to Diana.

By the time she finished speaking, Diana’s eyes had turned red, ’’Why didn’t you tell me about it before? Have you suffered so much in the past few months? And I was entirely clueless about everything...’’ she glared at Maxim, knowing very well that the must have been aware of the circumstances.

"Ana...’’

"Don’t ’Ana’ me. Why did you keep me in the dark?" Diana found it ridiculous that she was completely clueless about all that had been happening in the past few months. She had been eating and sleeping just fine without any worries about the world, living in her own little bubble, thinking that everything was fine with everyone.

’’Because I asked him to,’’ Daisy intercepted before the situation could worsen.

"Why?" Diana looked disappointed, ’’Do I not have the right to know if you are facing any sort of trouble? I can’t believe that you have been through so much and I only come to know about it right now. If I did not come over here today, you would not even bother telling me.’’

’’It’s not that...’’

Ryle’s lips twitched. He thought the reunion would be heart-touching to the extent that Daisy would throw himself into his arms the moment they were alone but seeing the current circumstances, he was not sure anymore.

’’Then what?"

Daisy sighed, ’’I had a complicated pregnancy, Ana, and it’s painful. I don’t want you to go through that,’’ she calmly analyzed and pointed out the reasons that made her decide to keep the things from Diana back then but it only made the latter feel worse.

Tears welled up in her eyes.

’’And even if you know, you can’t do anything but worry. I don’t want that. At least, not now,’’ Daisy pointed her chin at the woman’s bulging stomach.

Seeing that the situation was handled smoothly, Maxim, whose face was filled with black lines, gradually recovered. The image of his sleeping figure on the couch slowly receded and the bed came into vision.

But nobody noticed the change in Ryle’s expressions when Daisy talked about her difficult pregnancy.
