Chapter 129: When will you recover?

"What are you doing here?" she questioned him, slowly sitting up on the bed.

She raised her hand to tie her long hair in a bun, exposing her slender neck.

Ryle could see the ’’artworks’’ that he had left there and his eyes shone.

The satin nightdress slipped from her shoulder, settling near her elbows.

Ryle sucked in a deep breath as he glanced at the untarnished hand that greeted his view. The fact that it was soft, supple and still unmarked bothered him quiet a bit.

When Daisy did not get a response from him, she raised her head to look in his direction only to find him gazing at her hand with a thoughtful expression.

She was about to question him again but Ryle placed his laptop aside on the couch and strode towards her.

’’When I woke up, I realized that I have been abandoned so I came looking for you,’’ he cupped her face and bent to her level before stealing a kiss from her lips.

Daisy immediately covered her mouth, ’’You... I haven’t brushed yet.’’

His eyes darkened and he placed a soft kiss on her shoulder, slowly gliding down to her upper arm as he nibbled on her fair skin, ’’Tell that to someone who cares,’’ he whispered in a husky voice.

But in the next moment, he paused. The thought of her telling such things to another person under similar circumstances made his eyes darken, ’’Don’t say that to anyone else.’’

’’H-Huh? What should I not say?" Daisy was still in a daze when she felt the man’s unruly hands sneaking around on her nightdress, ’’Ryle... Angel is...’’

’’...Sleeping like an obedient little princess that she is knowing that her mommy needs some morning pampering,’’ his soft whispers against her skin, his mischievous words and those sinful lips peppering kisses on the crook of her neck had her body turn into liquid.

Daisy felt so so defenseless that she could only hug his neck when he kissed he kissed and played with her neck more passionately.

’’Ahh... Ahh...’’ the parrot’s incessant moaning broke Daisy’s reverie.

And she immediately pushed him back, her face flushing red.

Ryle’s eyes darkened as he glanced at the parrot.

His menancing gaze made the bird shrink back on the branch as he started poking it’s female mate.

Daisy cleared her throat, ’’Isn’t your pet a bit too unusual?"

To her question, it was Ryle’s turn to be tongue-tied. How was he supposed to tell her why it was unusual?

But it suddenly dawned on Daisy, ’’Don’t tell me your parrot was around when you... uh...’’ she did not know how to phrase it, ’’As in... during your deeds?"

Seeing her unbothered stance while she asked about his old sex life bothered him for some unknown reason.

’’Yeah?" Daisy did not let it go even when he stood there silently.

’’Kind of,’’ Ryle shrugged, his face dark.

Daisy laughed, ’’No wonder.’’

The sound of her laughter made him shift his gaze back to her. Somehow the discomfort in his heart seemed to have faded quiet a bit when he saw her laughing at his expense.

She rarely laughed.

But whenever she did, she bewitched him even more. freewebnøvel.com

As the man started getting touchy feely once again, Daisy swatted his indecent hands away.

She was afraid that he would get started with her right there and then. And her lately disobedient body would give in to him till she forgot that her child was sleeping right next to them.

It was better to be safe than sorry.

In the end, although they did not do anything. Ryle ended up lying on the bed while he pulled her into his arms such that she fell on top of him.

Daisy did not resist and let him hold her as he wished.

She turned her face to the side and placed her head on his chest. As her gaze landed on the parrots, she could not help but think of how Aunty Lu had mentioned about it.

"Ryle.’’

"Mmm?" the man stroked her back gently as he looked at her reflection in the mirrored ceiling.

’’Why the parrots?" When Daisy asked the question, she felt the movements of his hand halting for a moment before they continued again.

She turned her face and placed both her palms on his chest before supporting her chin on it so that she could look at him.

Ryle fell in a daze.

He could still see back to that day.

*Flashback*

"Mama...’’ A small boy pushed the door and entered the place, looking around in the dark room.

’Cough...cough..’

The sound of consecutive weak coughs made the boy stiffen.

He threw his bag to the floor and walked towards the bed, "Mama...’’ his brows were taut and his voice was soft.

A soft hand was placed on the boy’s hand, ’’How was your day, sweetie?"

The boy was silent for a while. He did not answer her words but instead, he asked her, ’’Are you not feeling well?" Despite his small stature and young age, the boy had a mature tone but one could hear the tremble in his voice.

It was barely noticeable but it did not escape the woman’s attention, ’’Ryle...’’

Ryle jumped off from the bed and walked towards the window before drawing the curtains open. As the light invaded inside the dark room, the woman instinctively closed her eyes, ’’Ryle... Be good... Close the curtains.’’

Ryle could see the bloodstains on the bed, on the pillow, and on the sheets. The woman who always looked as beautiful as an angel had somehow turned deathly pale over the time. Her skin had lost it’s color and her body was thin as a twig.

’’Mama,’’ Ryle’s face was expressionless but his shoulders slumped slightly, ’’When will you recover?" he sat on the bed and held her hand again.

’’I won’t,’’ the woman had been coaxing herself and coaxing her son for a long time, ’’Cough... I won’t recover,’’ she whispered softly as her eyes seemed to be glancing into nothingness.

’’Please,’’ Ryle’s tiny fingers wrapped tightly around her hand.

The woman looked at him, ’’Make new friends, sweetie. Be good. Study hard. Play when you want to. Do what you want. Go out and see the world...’’

’’Mama, without you around, nobody would talk to me,’’ Ryle whispered with utmost seriousness.

’’It’s not people who don’t talk to you. It’s you who doesn’t talk to them,’’ the woman pulled the boy into her arms, adjusting him into a corner of the sheets that was not stained by her blood.

And the boy who did was not usually that needy for affection, leaned into her arms and let her hug him without any words.

’’My little boy is so adorable. How can people not talk to him?" the woman gently stroked his hair as she kissed his face.

One did not know how long of a time had passed before the boy in her arms gently whispered.

’’Can you not go?"

’’Mama is in pain, Ryle...’’ The woman’s gentle voice seemed to be trailing off slowly.

Ryle burrowed his face in her embrace and soft whimpers resounded in the room.

As the day turned into night and the night turned to day, there were consecutive knocks on the door.

After a few moments, the door was pushed open and a young woman rushed inside followed by a tall man.

’’Locke...’’ the woman halted in her tracks, tears welling up in her eyes as she saw the mother and son sleeping peacefully, embracing each other, except that the woman’s face had turned into a deathly white shade.

Locke closed his eyes and inhaled a deep breath, ’’Mei, take little Master away.’’

It took the woman a long time before she composed herself and walked towards the bed, trying to pull the boy away from his mother it was as if he was holding her in a death grip.

In the end, Locke also went to help the woman but when he went to carry the little boy, he realized that the boy was not in sleep.

The boy’s eyes were open. The rims of his eyes were red but his face seemed lifeless.

’’Little Master...’’ the woman covered her mouth with her hand when she realized that the boy was awake.

’’Put me down,’’ Ryle finally uttered a word, setting the heart of the two people who were worried about his well being, at peace.

At least, the boy was not traumatized to the point of being mute, as they had assumed when he did not say word.

As Ryle’s feet touched the floor, he turned around, his back was facing towards the floor, ’’Call the funeral home and make arrangements,’’ his words were directed at the man who was standing beside him.

’’What about Master and Old Master...? They...’’

’’Start making arrangements,’’ the boy said, his tone cold.

Locke nodded and looked at the woman who was standing beside him before he retreated.

’’Aunty Lu.’’

’’Y-Yes, little master?" the young woman standing beside him responded.

’’Help mama put on her favourite dress. She should look as beautiful as she always looks.’’

’’Y-yes, yes...’’ With tears in her eyes, the woman nodded vehemently.

The boy walked towards the door with his short strides.

Lu Mei couldn’t help but feel her heart tearing at such a sight, ’’Little Master, wait...’’

Ryle did not stop.

"Madam has left something for you,’’ Lu Mei hurriedly added.
