Chapter 300: Encounter In The Alley
The night was about to spread its wings and Zyair had just gotten free from dealing with Couper. He was sent on his way back to Marica City so his face could heal and later he would go to the police station to turn himself in.
Kail was sending one of his men with him so he could report back and ensure he did what he had been told to do.
Caleb’s call came through to Zyair as he was heading home with Kail.
He wondered why Caleb could be calling. Swiping his thumb on the screen he received the call and before he could say hello, his frantic voice came through.
"I have located Doran, come to B-Couture’s main building and bring some extra men plus weapons to break down a wall and metallic door."
Zyair’s body froze as if he had been mummified, he was unable to believe his ears and had to shake himself. He frenziedly asked while tightening his grip on the phone.
"Are you certain?"
"I am, come quick. I haven’t told the police yet." Zyair was thankful to Caleb for not involving the police. Zyair wished to deal with Doran on his own.
"I am on my way, don’t call the police," Zyair told him with a faint smile creeping up on his face, the very first one since Skyla had gone missing. The smile was sardonic, its edges dipped in bitterness, extending to his raging eyes.
Today he wouldn’t spare that satanic-minded asshole. He was going to rip him limb to limb.
"Head over to B-Couture and call your men, we are going to be breaking more than bones today. Hurry." Zyair instructed Kail, who needn’t be told twice to change the course of his vehicle. He took a sharp turn, the car skidded along the road as it changed course and off they went.
"We will get him and rescue Ma’am Skyla. I will personally break every bone he possesses," Kail said with a set jaw while calling his special buddies.
The thought of seeing his wife again had rekindled in Zyair, like a warming embrace, it covered and comforted him. His darkened heart had a faint light flicked on. How he wished to grow wings and fly there. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Taking out his phone he called Lawrence and passed him a bunch of instructions. Lawrence promised to meet them there.
Zyair clenched and unclenched his hand, his heart wouldn’t ease even for a microsecond.
It took them 20 minutes to reach the place. They seemed to be the longest 20 minutes of his life. He could only pray his wife was safe and no harm had been done to her or he would raise hell.
Zyair practically flew out of the car as it skidded to the stop in front of Caleb. He was waiting for them with one of his guards.
"Where is he?" Zyair demanded, approaching them fast on his long legs. They were standing right outside the B-Couture’s main building.
"Let’s go in the car. It will be faster. It’s some hidden room in our abandoned underground parking lot," Caleb quickly answered, he seemed in shock for his face was devoid of any colour and his eyes were wide like pitchers. They got in the car with Zyair and Caleb guided them towards the abandoned parking lot while explaining how he had discovered it. freewebnøvel.com
The guard told them where to stop and everyone descended from the car. Zyair took a look around and his sharp mind was already racing. Knowing Doran he understood that man must have a backup plan in case his hiding place was found out.
Caleb pointed towards the location where he had seen Doran going in.
"There inside is a small hall and its eastern wall has a hidden mechanism, behind which he has built some secret room. I am sure that’s where he is keeping Skyla," Caleb explained.
Zyair knew he surely had hidden cameras installed too, that would explain how he was getting in and out without being noticed. That also meant he must have already seen them and would be trying to escape by now with Skyla.
Kail was taking in the surroundings like a hawk, his standard-issued pistol, Glock 22 was out and he was ready for any attack that may come.
"What other areas does this parking lot connect with? Any closed doors? Passages? Or entrances or exits? Anything?" Zyair desperately asked and the guard instantly spoke up.
"There is a barricaded door which opens in an alleyway but it has never been opened or used. The whole place is in shambles because no one uses it anymore."
"Take me there, now," Zyair ordered like a man possessed. He knew he was this close to getting his hands on Doran and hopefully liberating his wife.
"Follow me," he quickly spoke and everyone fell into steps behind him. Taking a few turns they arrived in a backhand alleyway, it was dark with only moonlight illuminating its dinginess. A foul smell erupted from the dumpster in the corner as if death itself walked in there.
Zyair was in the lead with the guard. His long legs took two steps at a time and then he halted in his step when two figures emerged from a broken wooden door.
The one he loved the most and the other he hated with every cell of his body. The guard moved back, seeing they had found what they were looking for and let Zyair handle the situation.
Kail was right behind his boss, his pistol ready to shoot at any indication from Zyair.
Zyair paused in his step, his stormy eyes narrowed at Doran while his hands fisted in such extreme that his knuckles turned white. He shouted in all the rage he could muster.
"Let go of my wife."
His words echoed ominously in the space all around them embroiled in threats of what Zyair had planned for him.
Doran halted in his run, his mouth falling open in the shadow of disbelief that fell long and hard on him and stole his breath.
And then Zyair’s eyes fell on her, making him forget the world with all its miseries and foulness. His heart fluttered like the flimsy wings of an excited bird who lays his eyes on his mate and wants to do the happy dance in excitement.
His wife, his beautiful wife, was standing there bathed under the pale moonlight. As exquisite as a fresh Lily with a tint of rose. Stunning even when she was barefooted and dressed in what seemed like an oversized shirt and trousers.
Her forest green orbs were fixated on him as well and he could see the love, fear and desperation dancing in their depths. She needn’t speak for her could read her like an open text.
Like a fire fairy that had descended from the moon above for she didn’t belong to this wretched world. Skyla was too pure for it, especially for the man holding her.
A pensive smile replaced the shock on Skyla’s face as she gleefully watched her husband. He watched as the sparkle slowly returned to her fear-filled eyes and hope replaced it.
Every nerve fibre in her body ached to run to him and have his comforting arms wrapped around her. His full lips she wished on every part of her skin, kissing away the deplorable touch of this man.
His legs urged him to move and cut off the hand holding her captive and have her by his side.
"Zyair!" She agonisingly called out, so much pain was embroiled in her voice.
Zyair tried to blindly rush to her but Doran yanked her closer, taking out a gun he placed it on her temple. The madness danced in his icy blue eyes.
"One more step and none of us will have her. Stay where you are," he yelled in full force making the approaching man pause in his steps. Behind him, Kail and the guard were ready with their pistols too waiting for Zyair’s order or an opportunity. Any wrong move and they would end up hurting Skyla.
Skyla’s breath was caught in her throat as another pang of pain travelled through her making her clutch her stomach in agonising pain. The interval between the contractions was reduced as time went on. She wasn’t sure how long before her water would break.
"You can’t escape. It’s better to let her go and we can talk. Let’s do this peacefully," Zyair cautiously said, seeing how volatile the male holding his wife was. There was this animalistic rage in those colder-than-ice eyes of his. He didn’t want to take any risks, holding up his hand he indicated to Kail and the guard too to not shoot.
"Never, she is mine. You can never take her from me. I will end her and your child too instead of seeing her with you," Doran raged out in disgust, making the surroundings charge up with his threat.
Zyair clenched his teeth so tightly that it released the sound of his animosity. This was not going to be easy.
