Chapter 285: Where Is My Wife?
Zyair’s journey towards the airport was the most torturous journey of his life. He tried to contact Skyla but it kept ringing without anyone answering.
He tried to login into his account to access the video footage of his house but met with static. The internet services were down throughout and he couldn’t access it.
He tried Lawrence and Rais and they told him the situation was grim and he needed to get home as quickly.
"Come straight to Meena Mansion. I am there with Mrs Kincaid. Huria and Rais are elsewhere occupied. We will explain everything," Lawrence had told him in a deadly serious tone. Any kind of teasing or humour that usually existed in his voice was missing.
It made Zyair even more restless, the thoughts of Skyla’s innocent face churned again and again in his brain. It left him wondering what possibly must have gone wrong.
Zyair then called Kail as a last resort. Although he had promised him one week off he needed his bodyguard. Kail picked up on the first bell.
"Sir!" His respectful voice came through.
"Hey! I know I said I won’t disturb you. But I need you. Can you visit my home and assess the situation? Something has happened and since I was visiting Marica City to sign a deal, they won’t tell me."
Kail took a second, the serious and calculating mode was activated. He knew Zyair wouldn’t call him if it wasn’t urgent. His gut clenched, the last time he had taken leave something had happened and it seemed like this time was no different.
"Sir! I apologise but I am also in Marica and it won’t be possible for me right now. If you haven’t left, I can meet you at the airport in 15 minutes." Kail knew going back with his boss would be a lot faster than booking a flight at the earliest. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Zyair’s heart further dropped down in despair. What was he thinking that Kail would just stick around in Angel City when he was on vacation?
"I am just heading to the airport. Come, I will wait," Zyair informed him, ending the call. Pressing his lips tightly shut, he fisted his hand and impatiently tapped his foot on the car floor.
Gairo watched his boss in concern. The old man knew how difficult Zyair’s life had been and he was finally getting it back on track.
"Whatever it is, will pass. You know how to weather the toughest storms and all of us are there with you," Gairo offered some words to help Zyair ease down a little.
It didn’t assuage his fears but it certainly strengthened his heart to know that there were people he could rely on.
They reached the airport and Kail joined them. Soon they were heading back to Angel City.
"I apologise for interrupting your vacation like this," Zyair told him in a contrite tone.
"It’s no issue. I will reach out to my team and see if they know what happened?" Kail began to dial their security team one by one. But no one picked up.
That was very strange and it alarmed him. He was more determined than ever to find out what happened. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Zyair was not a fan of the media and he didn’t check the news anymore. So he didn’t know that the news of his home being attacked had started to leak. The internet was so bad that nothing was loading for them.
His private number was only with friends and family so he didn’t receive any calls from outside. Even with the police trying to keep the media at bay, they found out something had happened and were very inquisitive to find out what it was.
Kail on the other hand got the news through another associate. The news shook the big man when his associate told him that bodies had been removed from Zyair’s residence.
He stole one glance at his tensed boss and knew if something had happened to his wife, he would lose his sanity. Kail wore a grim expression but stayed quiet, he would need to see first what had gone wrong. The picture would only become clear when they would reach there.
They landed in Angel City, somewhere near dawn and rushed to their villa. Kail drove Zyair while Gairo went home with the other chauffeur.
Although Lawrence had told him to come to Meena Mansion, Zyair insisted on going to his home.
Nearing the villa, Zyair could see police cars surrounding it and a barricade had been set up. The car stopped and he was out of the car in a flash, all his thoughts consumed to find his girl, safe and sound. Although at the back of his mind he knew she wasn’t there. The villa seemed grim and empty.
He rushed inside with Kail at his heels. A police officer stopped him, recognising the man.
"Mr Zyair, it’s a very delicate situation. We have cordoned off your house. You will need to go to your mother’s place. We have set up a security system there and they will explain everything to you. We can later take your statement."
Zyair grabbed the police officer by both arms without even thinking. Being so tall he towered over him as he desperately demanded in a voice laced with so much pain.
"Where is my wife? What the hell happened?"
Police officer remained calm and didn’t remove his hands before saying.
"I understand you are very emotional but you should let us escort you to a safe place. Your life could be in danger as well."
"Danger? From what? Will someone fucking tell me what happened?" The police officer’s words were leaving him even more confused than he already was.
Kail had to step in, seeing his boss was losing control quickly. More police officers gathered around to guide him away from the place. He could have a target on his back.
"Sir! Come with me. We will talk in a safe place." Kail forcefully took his boss away and helped him settle down in the car.
Disturbed and frustrated, Zyair wished to scream out in despair that was brewing inside him like a volatile substance, ready to burst any second now.
Two police cars escorted them to Meena Mansion and every second painfully prolonged into hours for Zyair.
Kail drove fast, his mouth was set tightly shut. He had somewhat understood what must have happened.
As soon as Kail pulled outside Meena Mansion which was swarming with police officers, Zyair jumped out of the car and angrily dashed inside the place.
"Mom! Skyla!" He desperately called out, his feet moving too quickly, his eyes desperately wandering to find a glimpse of his wife.
Meena rushed out to meet her son in a very haggard state, her eyes were swollen red and seemed like she hadn’t slept a wink. A grim Lawrence followed behind her.
All of them met midway. Meena threw herself into his arms and uncontrollably began to sob.
His arms tightly wound around her shaking body as he let her get hold of herself.
Zyair then demanded, worries laced his every word.
"Where is my wife? Someone tell me the truth, right NOW. I am done waiting."
