Chapter 286: The Police Did Nothing.

His expressions saying that ’someone should start talking or he would lose it.’

"Oh! Zyair." Meena took hold of his hands and guided him along. Kail and Lawrence followed in pursuit. The tension was so palpable that it could be carved with a knife.

Meena made him sit on the sofa and she held both his hands tightly in hers. What she was about to reveal to him would flip him and she had no clue how he would react.

He was a patient man but his patience always gave way when it concerned the woman he loved. But there was no easy way to do this. Lawrence was biting his knuckles while Kail stood motionless and silent.

"The house was attacked while I was in the bathroom. They killed all the guards, lethally wounded Maven and ....," she paused, lowering her gaze unable to stare into the hurt-filled swirling oceans that were her son’s eyes.

He was latching onto the last dregs of self-restraint. His body went as rigid as a stone. A deep hurting breath was dragged as he asked with all the willpower he possessed.

"Is she even alive?" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

The dark thoughts swelled deep in his brain, the thoughts which cleaved his insides and filled them with acid for the pain of losing his wife and unborn baby was something he wouldn’t be able to live through.

"They took her, Zyair..... We don’t know...." She trailed off as sobs rattled her, quivering her body, making her break down. Hiding her face in her hands, she cried miserably.

Pain etched on every centimetre of his handsome face. It crawled its way into his heart and devastated it like a ship does when the relentless waves of a storm hurled and tossed it, smashed it against a cliff, wrecking it into splinters.

He sat still for a while, unblinking just staring at no one in particular, the world ebbing away, only her sunny laughter and pretty face flashing endlessly in front of his eyes.

The pain and rage mingled and turned into wrath, they gnawed at his sanity, devouring any patience he had left.

He knew this life he was building with her was too good to be true. People couldn’t digest their happiness and now they were ripped apart.

"The police are looking..." Lawrence apologetically began, trying to bring him out of the nightmare Zyair was stuck in.

"Not now Lawrence, I don’t give a damn what police are doing. They did nothing the last time I told them it was Doran. They won’t do anything now. I am going to find my wife and I am going to kill that fiend," Zyair snarled in a haze of rage that had him surrounded like a mist which descended an ocean at night.

"Kail?" He sharply called out.

"Sir!" Kail was stumped at the piece of news. Miss Skyla was missing in this condition, he could imagine the stress his boss must be under.

"Ready the car, we are heading out." Zyair abruptly got up, making his mom let go of him. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"No, Zyair. Think rationally, let the authorities handle this. Provide them with footage from the house, they will catch the culprits." Meena followed him up and desperately grabbed his arm, knowing he would make a rash decision in such circumstances.

"I am going to find him and bring my wife back. It’s my fault, I should have never left her in this condition," Zyair began trying to control these raging emotions which were turning him into a beast. The beast which wanted to devour Doran raw.

Two Police Officers stepped inside the house and interrupted them.

"We would like to take Mr Zyair’s official statement and discuss the details of the case. Come with us to the station, there is something you need to see," they promptly told him, holding grim expressions.

Zyair was about to rebuke them but his mom grabbed his hand and squeezed, pleading with her eyes to cooperate with them. He was acting on pure instincts, his mind was whirring with only her wife and unborn child’s thoughts. Stuck in the clutches of the man who had hurt her the most. The one man Zyair had promised to protect her from.

"If only the police is ready to consider Doran Blackthorn as the prime suspect in the kidnapping of my pregnant wife and would do something about locating him. If he had been caught last time for the crimes he committed, this wouldn’t be happening," Zyair told them in a tight tone, keeping fierce eye contact with the officers.

"We can’t make a move without evidence, Mr Zyair. The police don’t work on haunches alone, he walked because he had a solid alibi and there was a lack of evidence." The older of the two policemen spoke calmly, seeing bow agitated and angered Zyair looked. The man’s whole demeanour had changed, the rage had deepened its clutches inside of him.

"And whose job is it to find the evidence? If law enforcement would take such cases seriously, this wouldn’t have happened. My wife wouldn’t have been taken, my child’s life wouldn’t be on the line. I swear, if something happens to them, I will sue the whole police department and I won’t rest until I get justice."

The air seemed to have been sucked out of the room for Zyair couldn’t breathe properly. Dangling on the precipice of shock and madness, he wanted to dive in, head-on. Damn be the consequences, all the light in his life had been sucked out leaving him in a gloomy pit of darkness. He had nothing to lose.

All eyes were on him, some sympathetic, others apologetic but no one dared speak for a while until one of the police officers broke the silence and said.

"I deeply understand your concerns. Our whole task force has been mobilised to look for Mrs Zyair. We need your cooperation on the matter now. They might try to contact you by some means. So let us help you."

"Listen to them, they are our best shot at finding Miss Skyla. I will come with you." Lawrence placed his hand on Zyair’s shoulder, providing the man with his assurance. Zyair had to take several deep breaths to be able to speak again.

"Ok, Kail! Stay with Mom. No harm should come to her, I am trusting you," Zyair dismally instructed before striding away with the Police officers. Lawrence slowly followed him.
