Chapter 284: Come Home Immediately
Meena had gone upstairs to use the bathroom. The guest room allocated to her was further towards the opposite side. She had closed the door of the room and bathroom too. Due to the long distance between them, she couldn’t hear what was going on downstairs.
All guns had silencers installed and after Skyla’s first scream, Doran had covered her face with his hand.
She took her time. Leaving the bathroom when she descended the stairs, a horrific sight welcomed her. The poor woman almost had a heart attack. Clutching her chest she ran down the stairs towards Madame Maven, lying in a crimson puddle of blood, she remained motionless.
"Maven!" She frantically shook her as she glanced around for Skyla and her heart further slipped in her chest when she didn’t find the girl anywhere.
"Skyla? Skyla?" She shouted at the top of her voice but there was no response.
Meena checked Maven’s pulse and there was a faint one.
Sighing with relief Meena left her on the floor to go grab her phone and check outside.
Unlocking the phone she hurriedly dialled Zyair’s number while running outside the house. All the guards lay dead on the ground and near the gates. The blood had splattered everywhere, it was a whole massacre.
Tears brimmed in her eyes as she tried to assess the situation and come to terms that Skyla had probably been kidnapped.
The phone kept ringing but Zyair didn’t pick up. He was still in the meeting.
With shaking hands Meena then called the ambulance and the police telling them briefly what she imagined had transpired.
She then dialled Lawrence, she had to get someone here and start searching for Skyla.
She rushed back inside, towards Maven and checked where the blood was flowing from.
"Please! Hang in there."
Tearing the piece of her dress Meena tightly wound it around her profusely bleeding leg and applied pressure. Hoping the blood loss would lessen until the paramedics arrived.
Her eyes went to the place Skyla had been sitting when she had gone to the bathroom. The spilt contents of her glass and the toppled book told her that Skyla had been taken.
Her muddled thoughts went to her son and how she had failed to protect his wife. He had left her in her care and now she was gone.
What answer was she going to give her son? After such hardships, he had finally found happiness and now his pregnant wife was gone. Meena’s heart drowned in uncountable sorrows as she heard the sirens in the background.

Zyair’s meeting had extended longer than he had expected. He had put his cell phone on silent but there was this uneasiness in his gut. The company’s owner was being extra friendly and he had insisted too much for Zyair to travel here.
And now he kept prolonging this meeting, showing Zyair charts of stats after stats as if he wanted to keep him there for long.
"Let’s grab dinner Mr Zyair. After all, we are partners now." Mr Couper asked with a hint of smirk carving up on his cunning face.
"I appreciate the offer but I have to get back home. It’s important, next time maybe," Zyair respectfully refused and glanced in Gairo’s direction. He seemed to agree with his boss.
"I insist Mr Zyair. It will be my pleasure. Stay the night, tomorrow I will accompany you to visit our shoe factory. I am confident you will love our setting." Couper drummed his stubby fingers on the table but Zyair didn’t wish to stay any longer.
"I will politely take a rain check. As you said we are partners now so let’s meet for dinner next time. I hope you can visit me in Angel City," Zyair informed him, while taking out his cell phone to call his chauffeur.
His phone showed numerous notifications of calls and messages.
His heart instantly clenched, telling him something was wrong. Instantly his hand clicked on the notifications and there were tens of missed calls from Lawrence and his mom. There was no call or messages from Skyla though.
This was bad, Zyair gestured to Gairo to wrap up the meeting and excusing himself he stepped out in the hallway to call his mom.
She picked up on the first bell as if expecting her son’s call.
"Mom! Is everything alright?" Zyair tried to calmly ask but he could sense some tension.
"Zyair, my son. You need to come home immediately, something has happened. Hurry back." Her despondent voice shook Zyair to the core and his mind instantly went to Skyla. Something had happened to his wife.
"Skyla? Where is she? What’s wrong?" He frantically asked, clutching the phone so tightly that all the veins in his shaking hand stood out against his bronzed skin.
His heart pounded louder and louder with every passing second at the silence that prevailed from his mother’s side — fanning the idea that something had gone terribly wrong. freeweɓnøvel.com
"Just come home, son. Hurry!" She pleaded, guild plaguing and festering her insides.
"I am coming, just tell me she is all right? Has she gone into early labour? Please!" Zyair made one last desperate attempt to ask his mother what had transpired.
Meena stifled a cry, she didn’t wish to give the bad news to her son on the phone. He was alone and away, she didn’t know how he would take it. She had forbidden Lawrence and others from telling him too much too. They would tell him when he was right in front of them so they could provide him emotional support. He would crumble alone.
"Zyair! Return," she said with a finality letting him know he shouldn’t waste time. Stuffing all his emotions down he rushed out of the building with Gairo at his heels.
"What’s wrong? Sir," he breathlessly asked, finally catching up to his boss, who was desperately trying to call someone. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
"We are returning right at this moment. I need to get in touch with my wife. Something has happened," he voiced out with difficulty, trying to keep himself together.
Getting in the car they headed to the airport to get back to Angel City and see what damage had been done. Zyair had no clue what had befallen his wife and child.
