Chapter 283: Invasion
It became inevitable for Zyair to not go and sign the deal in Marica City. Skyla had convinced him and during the meeting they had in the company, it was decided the deal was in the best interest of the company.
"After finishing up work, go to check up on Skyla. I don’t like leaving her alone at this time." Zyair instructed Lawrence for the tenth time. He had left Skyla in the care of Meena and posted extra security outside their home.
"I will do that, don’t worry. You go sign that deal. It’s just a day’s trip."
They hugged it out and Zyair and Gairo boarded his private jet. Gairo was accompanying him on the trip Zyair had no heart going on.
He was leaving her behind, she had insisted that he should take the deal, but his heart was not in it. The information Eris had given him regarding the phone calls Doran had been getting had Zyair on the edge. He was still trying to figure out the connection and he didn’t want to confront them for now or they would be alerted that he was on their trail.
Zyair knew that tons of trouble that had been stirred in his company was because of these men and he was adamant in bringing them down with evidence.

"Are you comfortable, Skyla?" Meena asked while knitting a small blanket for the baby to come.
"I am, thank you for coming over and staying with me." Skyla had a book open and she was reading about how to care for the newborns.
"It’s my pleasure, you people are my everything," Meena reassured her as she placed a cross stitch in the colourful blanket she was knitting.
Madame Maven brought them refreshments which included an almond and milk drink for Skyla.
"Finish this Skyla," Madame Maven instructed, handing the glass to Skyla.
"Let me freshen up and I will be right back." Meena placed the half-finished blanket with two long knitting needles and the ball of wool down on the sofa and went to the bathroom.
Skyla began to sip on her drink while being engrossed in the book. Maven went back to the kitchen to prepare their dinner.
Suddenly, the main door which opened into the living room broke down with a bang making Skyla frantically turn in that direction. Her hands instinctively went to her pregnant belly as three men stormed inside. Two of them were carrying guns while all of them had faces hidden behind hideous-looking masks.
The security alarm went off but was shot down by one of the men with a gun.
Skyla shrieked, the fear coiled inside her, gripping every muscle in her body. The glass in her hand dropped onto the rug-covering floor and white liquid spilt out.
The one in the lead froze for a second, his rage-filled eyes landing on her enormous belly as he stormed over to her. She tried to get up and run. But being pregnant made her body lethargic and her movements were restricted. Her feet felt so heavy as she tried to wriggle away in fright.
The man lunged at her and grabbed her by the hair, pulling her back. Her head jerked from the force.
Skyla anxiously tried to scream but he muffled it with his large palm. Her fingers went behind to scratch the hand which had her hair in a death grip.
She was forced to gape at him, into the eyes where no light shone, it was a black hole just the colour was ice blue, devoid of any emotions or feelings except anger.
Skyla’s throat dried up like a cracked land where no rain had fallen for years.
His colder-than-a-glacier voice hit her eardrums like chalk against the chalkboard, grating and disturbing. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"I told you I will come for you, my pretty wife. You are coming with me."
"NO, let me go. I am not your wife anymore." Skyla jerked and tried to speak in a muffled voice. The fear had her electrocuted, especially for the tiny life growing in her belly.
’My child, please be safe my child,’ the thought constantly hummed in her brain. The only thought that existed at that moment.
Madame Maven hurriedly came running out of the kitchen, hearing Skyla’s scream. The scene had her heart jumping into her throat. frёeωebɳovel.com
"Skyla!" She breathlessly called out, trying to get to her young miss. But one of the men standing guard aimed and shot her in the leg before she could reach her. The gun had a silencer so no one heard the gunshot.
Doran had clasped Skyla’s mouth tightly shut so she wouldn’t be able to scream any further seeing how they had shot Maven.
Every ounce of energy depleted in Skyla’s body seeing the crimson blood oozing from Madame Maven’s leg as she fell in a heap and became unmovable.
Tears pooled in Skyla’s eyes, her body thrashed against his callous hold, his hands digging into her soft skin. But she didn’t care, she wanted to get to Madame Maven, to ensure she was alive and this was just a nightmare she was stuck in.
"We should move, time is limited," one of the masked men grunted at Doran.
He curtly nodded and turned his attention to Skyla. She tried to back-kick him, but her movements were not that refined as she was afraid to hurt her baby.
Doran was able to move his body out of the way while he kept Skyla steady.
"You are coming with me," he barked, the rage digging into his flesh like thousands of needles. He began to drag her outside, and the two men followed.
Her senses enrolled into overdrive as she observed all three of the guards lying in a pool of blood. There were two more men on the ground in black clothes with their faces covered with the same masks as Doran and the men beside him had on. Their security team had gone down fighting but due to all the guns fitted with silencers, Skyla hadn’t been able to hear, until it was too late.
They picked up the bodies of their comrades and loaded them into one of the two black SUVs they had brought along.
Skyla was dragged and shoved into the other one by Doran. All the while she held onto her belly as if trying to protect her unborn child.
’’Zyair!’ She slowly called out in a desperate voice which was muffled by Doran’s hand. Her desperate eyes wavered to her home as tears spilt. She was taken away towards an unknown destination. Not having any clue where he was taking her and what he planned to do with her.
