Chapter 259: You May Kiss The Bride
After her heartfelt vows which completely melted everyone’s hearts especially Zyair’s. It was his turn.
Gazing deeply into her emerald eyes which were like a swirling sea of emotions today and each one he understood and wished to uncover even more, for all of them were his.
"You came into my life when I was engulfed by darkness. You shone like a light, the light which gave me hope and turned my own around. You cemented this belief in me that good people existed in this world, that there was still light at the end of my tunnel. You are my light, Skyla, my guardian angel. Together we will create our heaven and I will always do right by you."
He kept it short and heartfelt, everything else he wanted to say to her was meant only for her. Murmurs of approval and ’awws’ followed. Skyla’s eyes shimmered with tears of happiness as she stared at him with as much love as her big heart could possibly hold for this man. In that instant she knew she would never be able to live without him.
Zyair nodded and flashed her an endearing smile mixed with his undying love and affection for her. His thumb drew small circles on the back of her soft hands, especially the part under her ring finger and back of the palm, the parts Doran had burnt.
All the women present had tears in their eyes. Huria was bawling her eyes out by that moment. Her friend had finally found true love as she had deserved.
Rais silently handed him the ring he was supposed to put on her finger and make her officially his.
Once the vows had been exchanged it was time for ring exchange, that being the last part of the ceremony now.
"Skyla Adams, do you take Zyair Kincaid to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest asked in a clear voice.
"Yes, a thousand times yes." She willfully nodded her approval.
"Zyair Kincaid, do you take Skyla Adams to be your lawfully wedded wife?" Priest turned his gaze to Zyair and questioned.
"I do." His broad smile even broadened as he spoke those words.
Cheers followed their declaration, so many eyes were wet with emotions today. Lawrence and Bitu shrieked the highest while Erdith whistled.
"You may exchange the rings," Priest informed them. freewebnoveℓ.com
"May I?" Zyair still sought permission holding her tender gaze. His thumb and index finger held the ring he had custom-made for her.
"Yes!" Skyla’s voice choked in her throat as the over zealous emotions drowned it. Zyair slowly but surely slipped the delicate ring into her ring finger. Filling up the place he always wanted to do.
The ring had an enormous emerald in the centre with diamonds shaped like flower petals around it. The petals represented that she was his Lily.
The rose gold ring was elegantly designed only for her. Delicate yet finest, perfect for his Queen. She watched it with teary eyes where so many new emotions were birthing today. It was perfect and she loved it.
"Thank you!" She whispered as Huria handed her the band she had picked for Zyair. Taking his hand in hers, Skyla slipped the platinum ring into his finger. With the letter Z embedded into it, two small diamonds lay on its sides.
Zyair’s eyes wavered to the band and he was left mesmerised by its elegance. So classy and decent, just the way he liked it. His girl had an immaculate choice.
"Thank you! My love, I will always cherish it," he told her with emotional undertones to his voice. Skyla could sense his vulnerability and love, so she squeezed his hand and smiled reassuringly.
All their family and friends were clapping, some had happy tears swimming in their eyes.
"I now pronounce your husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," the Priest declared.
Zyair slowly slipped his hands around Skyla’s silken waist, pulling her to him near his heart, where she belonged.
"Officially you are mine now, Mrs Zyair." He had given her his first name. Skyla slowly giggled, filling his ears with the music of her voice.
"That’s all I wanted."
His lips found hers at that moment, so gentle like the breeze which was blowing from the lake beside them.
So different from the kiss Doran had given her on her first wedding, she couldn’t help but compare his blandness to Zyair’s passion. His lips blanketed her in his reassurance and contentment.
She returned his kiss with the same passion holding his serene face. The crowd had burst out in cheers, Huria and Lawrence were jumping up and down in excitement, Bitu was flapping his wings and shrieking at the top of his tiny lungs.
The fireworks went off behind them announcing to the world they had become one.
"My love!" He lovingly whispered in that silken voice of his as they finally let go of each other’s lips and Zyair hugged her sideways, letting her head rest on his heart while his hand held her upper arm so they could face and meet their family and friends.
Huria was the first to lunge at Skyla, kissing her flushed cheek. She was bouncing in joy, unable to stand still, her face locked in a radiant smile.
"Congratulations! I am so happy." She handed Skyla her bouquet back, knowing she was to throw it as a tradition.
Mawar and Erdith followed, squeezing her arm and congratulating them.
"The pin found you a bride," Erdith teased Zyair and he couldn’t help but guffaw at her words, throwing his head back.
"Ah! So that’s where the pin came from." The realisation dawned on Skyla and Erdith winked.
Meena climbed the stage and met her son and daughter-in-law. Hugging them together, she had tears shining in her beautiful eyes. Her words were choking in her throat due to the brimming emotions.
"I am so proud of you both," she told them lovingly, giving them another hug and moving away to make way for the others.
Lawrence and his family met them. Little Cheryl was beyond happy as Skyla kissed her cheek.
"Both of you are the most handsome bride and groom I have ever seen," she praised them, making everyone chuckle.
Bitu flew and settled on Zyair’s shoulder between him and Skyla and peeked out, rubbing his beak on Skyla’s face. She petted him with her gentle hands.
Rais hugged Zyair, patting his back while Zyair whispered something in his ear and he nodded.
Once everyone had congratulated the newly married couple and moved down from the stage, it was time to throw the bouquet.
Zyair placed a small kiss on her temple again before climbing off the stage with the boys, giving the whole stage to Skyla.
She turned her face away from the crowd and the trio of bridesmaids gathered in front of the stage, giggling.
"One
Two
Three."
Huria was standing in the front and without her knowing, everyone else had slipped away from behind her, leaving her alone.
The music from the band shifted to a fast-tempo symphony, a mysterious one.
The bouquet flew back and instead of Huria, it was Rais who caught it, standing exactly behind her. As Huria turned, he had already gone down on one knee with the bouquet in one hand and an engagement ring in the other.
Huria’s eyes blew wide seeing him on his knee with a shy smile on his angular face. He then asked in a clear but slightly apprehensive voice.
"Huria! Will you marry me?"
