Chapter 258: Her Vows
Cheryl walked the red carpet first in her flowing princess gown. Spreading the flowers here and there from her small gold basket. Her beautiful ebony hair had multiple braids with flowers and beads in them.
A hearty smile decorated her cute little face as she approached her Maziah. The cameras clicked while the guests in attendance with their stylish autumn attires clapped for the beautiful girl.
She shyly approached Zyair, he was all but smiles for the little girl.
Extracting the small box he had handed her over previously she entrusted it to Rais.
"Thank you! Young lady, you have fulfilled your duties perfectly." Rais slightly bowed his head and accepted the box, pocketing it.
Cheryl stood aside. Then the maid of honour and bridesmaids made their appearance, waving to the crowd with one hand while their other held bouquets.
The floral wreaths on their heads and purple-shaded gowns gave them the look of fair maidens of the meadow.
Huria sent a flying kiss to Rais who was quick to catch and pocket it with a wink. Guests affectionately smiled and clapped to welcome them. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Lawrence and Mawar stole glances while Erdith was disappointed to see that Kail was not there. She couldn’t put him out of her mind.
The girls took their positions on stage and Zyair acknowledged them with a nod and nervous smile.
Mawar and Erdith were slightly stunned to see him close by without a mask for the first time. No words were enough to define his unearthly allure and handsome features.
Now it was time for the bride to walk down the lane. Lawrence signalled to the band and they commenced to craft trumpet music, announcing the arrival of the bride.
Guests turned and all eyes were focused on the spot where she was to appear.
Zyair’s heart played its own music, the music of his frenzied urgency to see his girl, who was about to become his wife. He was almost craning his neck as if he wasn’t long enough already.
"Patience!" Rais snickered behind him, understanding how impatient Zyair was getting today to see her.
And then she appeared with her brighter-than-the-sun smile. How he loved to see her like that, filling his dull life with her colours, her brightness, her love and her radiance.
Their love-dripping gazes collided and the world around them dimmed out, leaving only him and her to exist at that moment.
He forgot to breathe.
She forgot to blink.
Their smiles couldn’t have been wider.
It was only when Amsilia patted her hand again urging her to keep walking did her feet shuffle forward.
"Aww!"
"Gorgeous!"
"Beautiful!"
The numerous cameras clicked to capture her elegant beauty and the timeless dress she adorned. With finesse she glided forward, so confident and so sure of herself.
With each step she took his heartbeat upped a notch until it turned into a drumroll. All his senses went haywire, he had never imagined that this day would ever come. The day he will get a bride, get someone who would love him to this extent.
She looked stunning, the gown, the jewellery, her makeup, the pin in her hair, everything was so precise and meticulous. It was indeed worth the wait.
She was real and she was here, halted near the stage waiting for him.
"Receive her," Rais gleefully mumbled in his ear, bringing him out of his stupor. Rubbing his hand along his pants as if he were straightening them, the man with the kind blue eyes let some of the sweat soak from his hands.
Zyair nervously extended his hand to her with his lips forming a perfect bow. Amsilia took her hand and placed it in Zyair’s outstretched one.
"Here, I know you will treat her the way she deserves," she said with such calmness and a hint of a sad smile. Although she didn’t mention her son, Zyair understood what she meant.
"I will," Zyair answered with an understanding smile as his gentle grip remained around Skyla’s delicate hand.
"Thank you for walking me down the aisle. I appreciate you." Skyla placed a small kiss on Amsilia’s cheek to make the older woman even more emotional. She slightly sniffled and tears welled up in her eyes as she let the girl go.
Huria stepped forward as well and they helped Skyla up the stage and positioned her right opposite Zyair, taking the bouquet of Lilies from her. Huria and Mawar adjusted her long skirt so it rested neatly behind her.
Bitu was over-excited to see her.
"Pretty! Pretty!" He squeaked, making everyone laugh.
"Stay! Don’t dare interrupt the ceremony. You will have your moment," Lawrence firmly told him.
The crowd cheered, everyone was in their respective positions now. Zyair gently took both her hands in his and squeezed them, his eyes wouldn’t waver from her radiant face.
"You look beautiful, my Queen," he told her without any reluctance, so much love dripped from his words and eyes.
"Handsome was the term coined for you," she shyly answered, unable to keep up with his tenderly passionate gaze.
Every person in that garden had their hearts brimming with love and affection for this couple who had come together and healed each other.
"Let’s begin!"
Everyone became attentive as the priest began the ceremony, the sermons were read as they held hands and continued to smile.
It was time for their vows.
"If you would like to say something to the groom to be," the priest asked Skyla and she nodded, turning her head back and staring deeply in his enamored eyes.
She hadn’t written anything down, she wished to speak from her heart, everything she felt for this splendid man was in her heart.
"Ahm!" She cleared her throat and began as the music stopped in the background so people could hear her clearly.
"As you know our love story is not an ordinary one. You didn’t only liberate me but you saved my life, you brought me out of the abusive relationship I was stuck in. Where I had lost so much of myself, my self-respect, my dreams, and some days even my desire to live. But you showed me the way, as the north star does to the lost sailor..." A meaningful pause she gave.
His smile kept broadening, it kept warming her heart even more, his hands kept reassuringly squeezing for her to continue which she did.
"You became my beacon of hope, the man of my dreams and I wish to spend an eternity with you, if that’s even possible. If anyone knows about the fountain of youth, please this is the time to speak." Skyla stole a glance at the guests and heard laughter erupt from them. She turned her attention back to Zyair and spoke further.
"I love you Zyair, with everything I possess and I will always keep loving you until I will breathe my last. Truth be told I had decided to never get married again but you changed my mind and here I am to be yours till the end now," she concluded with her signature smile and Zyair used every restraint his body possessed to not wrap her in his arms and smash his lips against hers.
