Chapter 255: The Ring Bearer

Wedding Day

The blessed Autumn day of their wedding was upon them. Skyla had hardly slept the previous night before, although Huria was constantly asking her to rest so she would feel fresh the next day.

But anxiousness gripped her like a vice. It pricked her as if something was going to go horribly wrong. As much as she consoled her agitated heart that it wouldn’t and no one had a hold on her decision-making it remained at the back of her head.

Her angsty heart will finally find some peace when she will be back in his embrace.

"Come, we should be leaving." Huria guided Skyla out. They had everything packed and placed in the car. Kail was to drive them.

Mawar and Erdith would be joining them there.

Although no media or journalist was informed of the wedding. They had their sources and found out. To deal with overzealous and nosey paparazzi and journalists, Zyair had taken tight security measures.

They arrived at the venue and their car was instantly surrounded by a group of overly enthusiastic people. They pushed each other and thrust mics and cameras towards Skyla and Huria. Even though the windows had not been rolled down.

"Uggh! They are like vermins we can’t get rid of," Huria said in distaste, watching them clamour over each other.

"Yeah! They have lost all credibility for me."

The security team pushed them back and the main door was opened. Kail grunted in anger and drove inside. No one was allowed in the premises.

Skyla and Huria were welcomed by Mawar, Lawrence and Erdith. They had already arrived to see to the arrangements.

"You guys good? I am sure they didn’t try to give you too much trouble with Kail there." Lawrence moved forward and hugged Skyla.

"They tried but no one could get past our Kail and his security team." Skyla appreciated her bodyguard, but it was Erdith who smiled with a twinkle in her eyes. Her eyes swept towards him, who was doing his utmost best to not glance in her direction.

"He is the best of the best," Erdith said with a sly smile and Kail had to keep a very serious face and avert his eyes. This woman was dangerous, nothing less than a walking-talking siren, snaring him into her trap again. Girls snickered in understanding.

"Come, let’s get you ready," Mawar said, taking Skyla’s hand and they made their way to the changing rooms.

"Is Zyair here? Are all preparations done?" Skyla asked, turning to Lawrence.

"He will arrive shortly with Rais. I arrived early to check all the arrangements. Everything is in place," he answered, reassuring her. She didn’t need to know about every small mishap. It was her day to enjoy and keep relaxed.

Arriving in the changing rooms, the girls began the preparations for Skyla. Huria was exceptional with makeup so they didn’t hire a professional makeup artist, besides Skyla wanted Huria to do it. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Girls got to work. Mawar took the job of doing Skyla’s hair while Erdith was in charge of her dress, shoes and jewellery. She was arranging them so it would be all laid out when Skyla was to wear them.

Outside the sky was clear with wisps of clouds here and there. A perfect Autumn evening it was going to be with a light breeze stirring the air.

The guests began arriving. Not many people had been invited, it was just Lawrence’s family and a few close associates of Zyair and Meena.

Cherry was going to be the flower girl and ring bearer for Zyair. She was over-excited. Dressed up in a lilac-frilled princess gown she held a golden basket with red Camellia petals. She was enthusiastically waiting for Zyair so he could give her the ring as he had promised.

Zyair arrived soon with Meena and Rais. He was all dressed up. Silver and white were the tones he had chosen for his three-piece suit. Perfectly custom-tailored to fit his god-like body. The suit did justice to him, dapper and classy were terms to define Zyair Kincaid that day. He had also chosen to wear the lapel pin she had given him.

Lawrence’s family congratulated Meena and Zyair. Iris embraced the elderly woman and she could sense the happiness oozing out of the petite woman, dressed so elegantly in a baby pink belted peplum jacket with gold buttons and a matching pencil skirt. She had a flowery broach stylishly pinned on her chest. But it was that broad content smile that said it all.

"Congratulations! And it’s so good to finally meet you." Iris took Meena’s hands in her and graciously smiled.

"Thank you for gracing us. It’s an honour to meet the woman who has raised a fine young man like Lawrence." Meena spoke highly of her son, he was a very respectful lad.

"Hi! I am Cheryl but you can call me Cherry since you are Maziah’s mom." Cherry confidently introduced herself, making Meena turn all her attention towards the young girl.

"Ah! A princess has graced us. It’s very nice to meet you, young lady." Meena warmly shook Cherry’s extended hand, making her slightly blush with the compliment. Zyair chuckled seeing her reaction.

"Thank you! Today this princess is a flower girl and the ring bearer." She raised her brows at Zyair as if asking where the ring was.

He smiled and his hand went inside his pocket, extracting a small red velvet box he extended it towards the young girl.

"Here, my lady. It’s in your possession now. Guard it and remember my promise is fulfilled. I am marrying the pretty girl. She will be my queen now." Everyone watched on as Cheryl carefully accepted the box from him and said in her unfaltering tone.

"She can be your queen but I will always be your princess. I will guard it very carefully." Everyone chuckled at her answer. Iris shook her head at her daughter’s bratty mouth. freeweɓnovel.cøm

Zyair patted her head in amusement before answering.

"Of course! Little one, no one can replace you."

Cheryl did a happy dance at his answer, holding the small box which contained the wedding ring Zyair had custom-made for Skyla.

"Please, take your seats," Meena requested while Zyair summoned the servers to serve drinks to the arriving guests. His own heart was restless and nervousness was spiking with every second. He wanted to see her, see his Queen.
