Chapter 254: Visiting His Father

"How did you never notice the looks Rais gave you?" Skyla asked, clearly stumped. freewebnøvel.coɱ

Huria shrugged, "I always thought he was only my bland boss, never noticed because I never thought along those lines about him, never even cared to observe him much."

Mawar nodded in understanding. "Bosses can be scary and relationships with them can reflect poorly in the company."

"Hey!!! I am going to marry mine. Don’t make me take the guilt road," Skyla pointed out, earning laughter from the other girls.

"Did it work?" Rais asked, handing over a mug of freshly made cappuccino to Zyair.

"Like a charm, she gave me five minutes. She is scary, hoarding my fiancée like a dragon does with his treasure. No wonder she likes rubies," Zyair complained, taking a sip of the creamy cappuccino with extra sugar.

Rais bent over from laughter at his words, imagining Huria as a dragon and sitting over jewels.

"She is feisty indeed but that’s why I love her. Women like her will defend you at every step, at every cost and under any circumstances. Others will think twice before messing with them." Rais had settled down opposite Zyair with his own mug of coffee.

Lawrence was still sleeping, he had been up late playing video games with Rais.

"That Huria will always do. I saw her defending Skyla at the hospital after that asshole did what he did and I am forever indebted to her for that." Zyair’s free hand fisted in anger at that memory. Everything Doran had done, that moment still topped it.

"That man is still sticking like gum under your shoe, even when you stomped on him. A permanent solution is needed to get rid of him for good. After the wedding, we should give it a serious thought and send him to jail for a long long time," Rais proposed, clicking his tongue in distaste as if even talking about him left a bad taste in his mouth.

"Yes, I am formulating a plan, I just want to wait till the wedding is over. He is done hurting us, I won’t bear him any longer." Zyair’s irritation and determination spilt out through his words.

They were interrupted by a haggard-looking Lawrence, who had staggered out of the guest bedroom like a zombie.

"Morning!" He sleepily mumbled.

"It’s noon now, it baffles me how you sleep through the day." Zyair shook his head at him while patting the sofa beside him so he could sit down.

"I like my beauty sleep. It’s my second most favourite thing in the world," Lawrence annoyingly muttered while Rais snickered.

"Gossiping is your first?" Zyair teased with a raised brow.

"No, it’s anime. Why do you always blame me for gossiping? I just enjoy talking and sometimes it involves other people." Lawrence merely shrugged his shoulders with a meh expression.

"He is so a male version of Huria," Rais added with a snorty cackle.

"Oh! I can’t agree more," Zyair offered his piece.

"Both of you are just jealous of Miss Huria and me." Lawrence stuck out his tongue making the other guys laugh out loud.

"Go freshen up, I will bring you some breakfast," Rais suggested and Lawrence left his seat to head back inside.

"I should get going as well. Have some last-minute arrangements and have to see Mom. I will be going away for my honeymoon so I want to spend today with her." Zyair placed the empty mug back on the table and got up. Taking out a mask from his pocket he covered his face. Rias followed.

"Call me if you need anything. Although I think we covered all the bases. See you tomorrow then, on the big day." Guys hugged it out.

"I appreciate it, man." Zyair thumped his back before heading out in his car.

He missed his dad. That man was one of the reasons Zyair stood where he did today and he knew if he was alive not many would have dared to come his way like they did. Montague Kincaid used to ooze authority and Zyair thoroughly missed having him in his life.

He never knew his own dad and today there seemed to have been a void inside his chest instead of his heart. Tomorrow he was getting married but none of his real parents would be there to see it. freewēbnoveℓ.com

The pain intensified and Zyair decided to visit his father’s grave before heading home to his mom. He bought a bouquet of blue roses from the way.

Soon he was parked outside the cemetery and made his way to Montague’s final resting place. It saddened his already heavy heart to see the marble epitaph with his name and dates.

Bending down Zyair placed the roses on his grave and placed his hand on the ground where he eternally lay.

"Dad, if you can hear me, I want to tell you what an honourable man you were. I can never repay you but I will continue your legacy. I am here because I am getting married tomorrow and wanted you to know that I finally got my girl. She is mine now and will bind her to me forever. Thank you for believing in me." Zyair’s voice cracked and he fought back tears that moistened his warm bluish eyes.

His hands gently rubbed the ground, a desperate try to feel near to his dad. He continued to speak for a while, unburdening his heart, complaining about the cruel world and everything they had done to him. Knowing this was a safe place and there would be no judgment.

He hardly ever complained, but with his adopted dad he was always open and always felt this unknown connection.

Staying there for a while until all his burdens had been dropped he stood up a lighter man. A sad smile adorned his lips as he threw a farewell glance at his father’s grave.

"Goodbye, Dad. I will visit again. Mom and I love you forever." He slowly walked away, it was time to go home to his mom.

Zyair arrived home to find it had been fully decorated with all kinds of decorative lights, fresh flowers and so many different paraphernalia. His mom had turned it into a grand palace ready to welcome a queen.

"Woah! Mom, you didn’t have to do all that." He said in delight while placing a tender kiss on her round cheek.

"Welcome back, and yes I did. It’s my only son’s wedding and I know you people won’t live here after the wedding but still. This will always be your first home." Meena hugged her son, she had missed him.

"Of course, mom. It will always be."

"Come, I will show you all the arrangements," she ushered him along. He fell in step with her, matching her short ones.

"I went to see dad today. I wish he was here," he told her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. Meena turned to face her son. Her heart pinged with the pain of not having her husband beside her anymore. Her lips slightly quivered as they turned upwards.

"I am glad you did, he would have been so proud and so delighted if he was here."

She told him quietly and Zyair nodded silently hugging her.
