Chapter 238: Promise To Huria

"It will be an honour for me," Rais quickly answered, slightly amused. He hadn’t expected this from him. Zyair’s heart swelled with happiness at this. There were still men in his life he could count on. freёwebnoѵel.com

"I have a request of my own, can I entertain you?" Rais quietly asked, throwing a furtive glance towards the girls. They were engrossed in each other, planning the wedding.

"Of course, I am all ears."

The girls discussed the wedding plans including venue, food, dresses and flowers. The boys made some secretive plans of their own.

"Tomorrow, clear your schedule. We are heading to the salon and then we are designing my maid of honour dress," Huria announced to her friend.

"Yes, I was thinking that you could take some days off from the office and plan the wedding thoroughly with Huria," Zyair chipped in.

Skyla nodded at him in approval before saying.

"Sounds like a plan. It’s a done deal."

Dinner ended on a high note as they later settled into the living room and decided to play cards by making two teams. It was girls Vs boys.

Every game lost would mean the losers would have to drink. They chose "Colours" as their preferred game since everyone was familiar with it.

Thirteen cards were dealt to each player in this game in three deals of 5-4-4.

The person next to the dealer had to choose a colour and a suit from the four suits — Ace, Diamond, Spade and Heart.

The superior the card one throws the more chance of winning the round or one can throw the chosen suit and win that respective round.

In this game, one couldn’t communicate with their partners nor could show the cards to each other but that rule didn’t deter Huria in the slightest. She loved cheating at the games and winning.

As the game started she would use hand signs to tell Skyla about her cards.

"Huria, I can see what you are doing?" Rais warned her while glowering. Zyair and Skyla pursed their lips to not laugh at her actions.

"What? I don’t know what you are saying," she feigned innocence while giving him a flirtatious smile, where she pouted her lips and rapidly blinked her eyes at him.

"I am warning you?" He scowled but his heart was all soft and gooey for her.

"I am just stretching my fingers, they are so tired after all the cooking. Why do you have to be mean to me?" Her pout became even more prominent as she offered him sad cat eyes.

"Fine, fine, don’t cry. I was just saying," Rais raised his hands and gave up. She was too clever. Huria smirked in triumph and then winked at a giggling Skyla. She played her card, the Ace of Diamonds, knowing no one could beat it and the point would be hers.

The girls won most of the games and it seemed like the boys let them. Girls were beaming and in turn, it swelled the hearts of their men. Although they were getting pretty drunk, they didn’t care.

"Yahhh, we won, we won," Huria’s excited giggles were indeed contagious.

"You played really well," Zyair complimented while gathering the cards into a single pile. It was still strange for Rais and Huria to see Zyair without a mask but they were trying not to stare at him.

"Yeah, you mean cheated really well. Ahm." Rais chuckled and then pressed his lips together when Huria threw him a look of disbelief as if she didn’t understand where he was coming from.

"She always does that, whenever we used to play before too," Skyla confirmed Rais’s allegations.

"You had to act like Brutus." Huria disappointedly shook her head at Skyla. The laughter continued while Rais excused himself to use the restroom.

Zyair didn’t want to bring up the topic of him and Huria knowing each other from Mirage, he was sure Rais wouldn’t like it. Huria was putting away the cards when Zyair cleared his throat and began to speak.

"Huria!"

"Yes?" She lifted her eyes and watched Zyair as he prepared himself to say what he wished to say.

"I would like to apologise for hiding the truth from you. It is because of Skyla that I was able to leave that life behind and I didn’t want to turn back or reveal my identity because deep down I was ashamed of myself, for what I did and what people made me do. But now I have realised that it wasn’t my fault and I am trying to stop being regretful or ashamed."

Hearing his wounded words Huria faced him and settled down on the opposite sofa.

"Zyair, you were known for your kindness in The Mirage as well. And seriously I don’t hold it against you, if I was in your place I would have probably done the same. Besides, you rescued my girl and made her happy. That’s all I care about." She flashed him a generous smile and he nodded in relief, a burden lifting off his shoulders. Naughtiness danced in Huria’s eyes.

"It means I should get a lot of credit for bringing the two of you together. Well, it was me who introduced you guys and mind you, she wouldn’t shut up talking about you." Huria winked, winked at them both clasping her hands together and rubbing them with an evil smile curving her lips.

"Huria, you are so dead." Skyla shot her a murderous glance, getting up from her seat she wanted to lunge at her friend but Zyair effectively caught her from the waist and pulled her down in his lap. Holding her in place close to him.

Huria snickered.

"Is that the truth? What did she say about me?" Zyair asked, his excited eyes blazing Skyla.

If only the ground would open and hide Skyla, she was blushing down to her roots now, and this was embarrassing.

"If you said anything to add to my embarrassment. I will kill you, Huria," Skyla warned, glaring at her friend while remaining aware of how Zyair’s smouldering gaze was on her. Huria stuck her tongue out at Skyla.

"She was so smitten, always saying how you brought her favourite anime character to life. Occasionally talking about how gentle you were and. ."

"Huria? Shut up," Skyla cutely huffed at her friend but Huria only found it amusing. Teasing Skyla was always fun and both Huria and Zyair loved doing that. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"Really? Seems like I left quite an impression," Zyair cooed in Skyla’s ear, making the hair on her nape stand up.

"You certainly did. Exactly the reason why she is so smitten by you," Huria teased again and Skyla hid her face in her hands, making Zyair and Huria guffaw at her actions.

"And Huria, I am certainly indebted to you forever for bringing us together. Name whatever you would like to have and you will get it," Zyair spoke like a true billionaire he was.

"Anything?" Huria rubbed her hands together in excitement, almost jumping out of her seat. Zyair nodded with a grin.

"Then all I ask is to keep my girl happy. I don’t want to see tears in her eyes again."

Zyair was so humbled at her request while watching her with a grateful smile.

"I promise you, Huria. I will make her the happiest woman in the world and will always take care of her."
