Chapter 237: Maid Of Honour
Meena’s face blossomed like a fresh flower on hearing Skyla’s request. Zyair’s mouth opened and remained open as he gawked at his girl.
"I would love that, Skyla. We can start right away after dinner." Meena’s eyes glowed with excitement but Zyair was still stuck in a perpetual stupor.
"You really want mom to design your dress?" He finally asked, extending his hand and taking hers in his.
"Yes, it will be an honour," she answered without any hindrance and Zyair kissed the back of her hand making her deeply blush and bite her lower lip. Meena smiled in approval of his actions.
"Well, on that note we should set a date as well since I have the two most important ladies in my life with me right now," Zyair suggested, squeezing Skyla’s hand and taking his mom’s in his other one.
"How about the first of October? It will be the beginning of autumn and I love that season, we will have ample time to prepare everything. What do you say, Mom?" Skyla suggested, looking expectantly at Meena.
"Yes, I think that will give me enough time to prepare your dress and mine as well. I am telling you guys beforehand though. I will go all out on this wedding, got only one son. Will be selfishly showing the world how much I love him."
Her eyes fluttered to Zyair who was all smiles for his mother. He would agree to whatever will make her happy. It meant the world to him to consider the wishes of both these women.
"It’s the ladies’ department. Both of you have free reins to do as you please. I have no problem." Zyair let go of their hands and raised both of his in a defensive way with his palms out. Ladies laughed at his action.
"It’s done then. We will be having a grand wedding," Meena triumphantly announced.
Although Skyla didn’t want a big wedding, seeing Meena’s enthusiasm, she didn’t want to turn her down. Anything to put smiles on the faces of the people she loved. They were already a family, it was just a matter of time to make it official now.

The next day was Saturday so they left the house in the evening. Skyla and Zyair bought a bouquet of pink roses and a bottle of Chardonnay as they headed over to Huria’s place.
Skyla had on a simple tangerine-shaded sundress. Zyair was in white chinos and a collared baby blue shirt which stretched along his muscles.
They arrived and knocked on the door, Huria was quick to open it.
"Skyyy!" She shrieked in excitement and hugged her friend. She squealed again seeing the flowers and expensive wine they had brought. Her dramatics held no bounds and they all loved her for that. Skyla offered her the bouquet.
"Hey! Thanks for inviting us." Skyla said while stepping inside the house.
"Mr Zyair!" Huria nodded at him a bit sheepishly. The last time she had gotten a slight chiding from him because of that press conference.
"Call me, Zyair. Let’s drop the formalities," Zyair smiled as she closed the door behind them and stood holding the bouquet with a stupid grin on her ever-excited face.
Rais emerged from the kitchen with an apron around his tapered waist, a spatula in his right hand and a beaming smile on his face. His mostly perfect hair were tinged with food particles.
"Welcome! Welcome!" He spread his arms wide and unexpectedly Zyair moved forward and embraced him, patting his back. Rais’s eyes widened like saucers as he kept the spatula away from Zyair’s shirt.
Skyla and Huria passed knowing smiles as both their men hugged it out.
"Here! That’s for you guys." Zyair handed him the wine and Rais graciously accepted.
"That’s very thoughtful of you, come come, today you will attest to my culinary skills." He waved them forward.
"Yeah! He tried to burn the kitchen down but I couldn’t say no to his enthusiasm," Huria placed the back of her hand in front of her mouth and snorted to Skyla. Her friend bit her lower lip so as not to laugh.
Soon everyone was settled around the dining table full of delicious-looking food. The aroma swirled all around them, inciting their taste buds.
Zyair carefully removed his mask, revealing his face to them. Everyone had already seen it, Huria had seen him as Calix too so there was no point hiding it from the people he called his friends.
Huria and Rais tried not to stare but they were taken aback by his rugged handsomeness. His face had changed in the past years, became more mature, more virile, more elegant.
"Thank you for trusting us, we very much appreciate it." Rais offered a complimentary nod and Skyla squeezed Zyair’s hand gently. Knowing it wasn’t easy for him to give away trust after how it was broken. frёeωebɳovel.com
"You people stood by me in my hardest time, I appreciate you guys." Zyair’s smile brightened and in turn, it was reflected on everyone’s face.
"Let’s dig in." Huria pushed the plate of special seafood rice she had prepared towards Zyair and Skyla.
Soon the chatter of the four and the clattering of cutlery against the marble plates added to the vibe of the place.
"The food is very delicious, compliments to the chef," Zyair said while Rais filled up his glass with straw gold-shaded Chardonnay.
"Rais helped with everything," Huria proudly answered but Skyla could sense the mischief in her voice.
"I know, I know, I only got in the way mostly but I tried," Rais added with a nervous chuckle filling up Skyla’s glass next.
"Full points for trying." Skyla raised her glass.
"That’s what matters, you had your girl’s back," Zyair added, raising his glass as well.
"He certainly did," Huria beamed at the man she had absolutely fallen in love with while upping her glass too.
Rais joined them, they clinked their glasses together.
"Cheers to us four." They brought the glasses down.
Skyla took a tentative sip and then placed the glass down on the coaster.
"I have an announcement as well." She stole a glance at Zyair and he encouragingly nodded at her, his smile widening knowing what she was about to say.
"Zyair and I have decided to tie the knot in October and I would love for Huria to be my maid of honour. Will you do it girl?" Skyla asked her best friend with a wide smile but in a slightly emotional voice. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Huria’s hand froze for a while as she stared back at Skyla and then shrieked in happiness.
"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. Last time I couldn’t do anything because I never wished for you to marry that fiend but this time I will fulfill all of my wishes. I can’t tell you how happy I am."
She pushed the chair back and rushed out of her seat to hug her friend and smother her face with kisses.
Rais and Zyair were guffawing seeing her enthusiasm. While the girls remained busy with each other, Zyair quietly asked Rais.
"As you know, I don’t really have many friends. You and Lawrence are like my younger brothers. So would you like to be one of my best men?"
