Chapter 195: Sinister Plans
In a darkened cell room of Angel City prison, Doran sat alone on the hard floor with his back pressed against the cold wall. His right leg was straightened against the floor while his left was bent, and his arm rested on his knee as he stared blankly in front.
The only light in the room was from a tiny bulb that roughly hung in the socket. It smelled of stale air and piss. The floor was stinky, the cutting chillness of it seeped through his prison attire making him numb.
But he didn’t care for any of it.
His evil mind was planning, planning the destruction of the man who snatched away his wife.
His bail had been denied by the judge on the grounds that Doran needed to carry out his sentence and reflect on his actions.
The contours of his face were permanently etched in anger and resentment. The stone-cold face had no expression whatsoever. His barren eyes had turned even frostier. His ever-shiny and smooth blonde hair were tangled, dirty and turning rusty gold.
He reminisced on the nine years of his marriage. The only time he ever had peace was when he was near her. So many moments when he would just stare at her sleeping peacefully. He leeched off of her innocence. It brought him and his heart peace.
Many times he wanted to touch her and her beautiful body. But he could never bring himself to do it. He would always leave and run to Karen. Exactly the reason he didn’t wish for her to sleep in his bed.
Her skin was always so soft and yet he had left it scarred. The guilt had eaten whatever was left of his heart and yet he couldn’t stop himself. It was like the devil had made a permanent abode in his heart which prompted him to hurt people, especially her.
And now the thought of someone else touching her made him nauseated. He knew in his bones that she had fallen in love with Zyair and that thought alone destroyed whatever was left of his mental peace. freewёbnoνel.com
According to what he had heard, she was still living with Huria but was it possible she would soon start living with Zyair? Doran knew he wouldn’t be surprised by it but he yearned to do something to not let this happen. He was desperate.
The heavy steps were heard outside his cell. One of the prison guards arrived, dressed in his crisp uniform. He cast one pathetic look at Doran before clanging his baton on the barred rods of his cell’s door.
He informed him in his burly bored voice.
"You have a visitor."
Doran slowly lifted his head and stared at the guard blankly with his soulless eyes. He didn’t say a word.
The keys clanged and his cell door was opened by the guard. Yanking him up by his arm the guard pushed him against the damp wall.
Doran stayed docile although the fire to hurt everyone burnt deep inside of him.
Soon he was handcuffed in front and dragged out. He was taken to the meeting room with glass dividers and cord telephones. Guard seated him on a hard orange chair and announced before walking away.
"15 minutes."
Doran focused his attention towards the front and found the person who had come to meet him. The only person who still cared about him. It was Karen. She was smiling with her surgically enhanced lips turned upwards while clad in all hot pink. She was definitely a sight for his sore eyes. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Doran picked up the receiver and placed it on his ear.
"Dori, how are you doing?" Her nasal voice which she altered to seem cute reached him as soon as he placed the receiver on his ear. Her eyes wavered to his orange jumpsuit and she wished to see him in a three-piece suit again.
He ignored her query and questioned.
"Did you do what I asked?"
"Yes, it’s in control. I am visiting every third day, everything is going as you have asked. No complications in that plan," she answered with a huff.
"Good, what about the company takeover?" He shot her another question.
"Caleb has been appointed as the new head. He may have fired me but we still have people loyal to us, loyal to you. They provide me with information and I will keep passing it on to you." She twirled a lock of her blonde hair on her finger.
The name Caleb made Doran snort in derision.
"Some best friend he turned out to be. He believed her and sided with her instead of me and now he is working with that masked piece of shit." An evil glint flashed in Doran’s eyes, "Listen, Karen."
"I am all ears," she responded, placing her manicured hand on the glass divider between them. Her long fake nails drummed it.
"Find out anything and everything on Zyair Kincaid. I don’t think that’s his real name because when I tried I couldn’t get any data on this name. Whatever I found only dated a few years back and it was equivalent to nothing. Like he doesn’t exist. Man is a ghost and we have no clue who is under the mask. I want you to find out. Work with some journalists or pay paparazzi but I need information on him. Because once I get out of here, I am going to destroy him and pay back ten times what he has done to me."
Doran ordered in his sickened voice which was heavy with his hatred and vileness.
Karen was snickering when he finished. The long fake nails of her left hand kept clicking the partitioned glass between them.
"I will do everything in my power to bring out all the dirty laundry he keeps hidden. Just leave everything to me," she reassured him in her annoying voice. The smile spread on her overly protruding lips. The term ’fake’ could have been coined keeping her in mind.
At times her fakeness disgusted Doran but she was the only person in this rotten world who understood him and stood by his side. Who didn’t feel disgusted by him nor thought he was crazy when he unleashed his demons on her?
In all fairness, she was as crazy as he was so they fitted together perfectly.
But Doran didn’t love her. In his twisted ways, he believed he was in love with his wife. But he needed Karen.
"If you can pull this off and get me something which we can use against him, I promise once I get out of here we will start planning our life together."
It was a lie told by Doran, he had no plans to marry her ever but he needed her for his ploys so he gave her false hopes.
Karen on the other hand had a smile broader than that of a Cheshire cat, her eyes blown wide. It felt like she had waited for him all her life and all her prayers were about to be heard now.
"You mean it?" She almost jumped out of her seat in excitement. Doran returned her smile. He had her where he wanted her.
"Yes, do as I say and once I am free, nothing can stop us from being together," he said with a sinister smile.
"I will not disappoint you," Karen sincerely promised, staring into his deep cold eyes. All she found was swirling darkness and his demons.
His darkness mesmerised her, it pulled her to him and over the years it had turned into an unhealthy obsession. Now she was ready to even kill someone for him, he just had to say the words and she would do it in the blink of an eye.
"By the way, your ex-wife is not in Angel City. Rumour has it she is gone on a long vacation just to celebrate her divorce," Karen casually added, trying her utmost best to make Doran hate her as much as possible.
His jaw twitched and his teeth gnashed against one another. He was rotting here while she was out there living her life. Not for long though. He will have her in his arms again.
Once he would get out he would steal her back even if he had to kill Zyair to do it. The idea of tying her up and hiding her away where no one would ever find her but him had been deeply seated in his twisted brain.
"Keep an eye on her activity and keep updating me," he instructed through gritted teeth, trying not to punch the glass in front of him and vent out some of the pent-up frustration.
"Count on me for that." Karen was more than happy to oblige.
"Time is up," the guard returned and announced in his booming voice.
Both of them said their goodbyes before Doran was taken away to be locked up again. Six months was going to be a long time for him.
