Chapter 147: Divorce Served
After Zyair dropped Skyla home that night, she slept peacefully. She had promised him she would try to be strong and she had decided to keep that promise. She couldn’t call him every time she had a panic attack. They couldn’t meet again for a while now.
"Hey! Girl, I am heading out to work. I have prepared your breakfast. Eat it and call me if there is anything." Huria gently stroked Skyla’s red hair as she stirred awake.
"Morning! You are leaving?" Skyla asked with a hint of panic in her voice.
"I will be back early, I have a very urgent meeting today otherwise I wouldn’t be going. I will speak to Mr Rais and will take a few days off. Kail is outside, he won’t let anyone in. Don’t worry." Huria held her friend’s shoulders and reassured her.
"Alright, I will wait for you," Skyla offered her friend a smile, letting her know she was not panicking.
Huria left for her office after that while Skyla had breakfast and then she called her mother-in-law and informed her of her decision. She didn’t want her to hear it from Doran.
"Skyla, I am very satisfied that you are making this decision. Sorry, I haven’t been able to locate the papers yet." Amsilia apologised slightly.
"That’s not your burden to bear Mom. I have reached my tipping point and right now I don’t even want to think about it. All I want is to be free of him but I will always be thankful to you and hope we will keep meeting. I have to return your car as well." freёwebnovel.com
Skyla didn’t want to burden Amsilia any more than she already had. How her motherly heart would be faring considering she was going against her son.
"Keep the car, Skyla. Don’t worry about it. But beware of Doran. He won’t sign the papers so easily. If you need me for anything I will be there for you," she sincerely told Skyla.
"Thank you! I will keep it in mind and stay in touch. Goodbye for now." The call ended after that and Amsilia slumped on the sofa of the boutique she and Meena had been running together now.
Meena walked inside and seeing her friend looking so devastated, she became extremely worried too.
"What happened? Ams," she asked, sitting down beside her and placing her hand on Amsilia’s arm.
"The divorce, Skyla has signed the papers and sent it to Doran. I don’t know if I should be relieved or stressed. How should the mother of an abuser feel? Ashamed I guess," she lamented, tears brimming up in her saddened eyes.
"Hey! Don’t go so hard on yourself. It’s not your fault that you had a douche husband who messed up not only your life but the life of his only son as well."
Meena tried to comfort her but deep down she knew how messed up the situation was. With her own son involved in it, her heart was gripped in fear of the unknown.
"I should have stopped Doran a long time ago, I should have helped her escape and yet I let him hurt her. How will I ever forgive myself?"
Amsilia drowned in guilt every day and blamed herself for what had happened with Skyla.
"If it’s any relief, Skyla will be safe. My son has every intention of helping and owning her. I have never seen him care for a female before like he does for Skyla. With his support, she will be comfortable," Meena informed her friend with a smile, easing her heart a bit with the news. Amsilia turned to her in a slight surprise.
"I had my doubts. The way he always treated Skyla with care and kindness. I am so glad she will find someone who will see her worth. We women deserve to be treated with respect." Amsilia clasped Meena’s hands and the latter nodded in approval.
"I don’t know what they will decide but if she chooses my son, he will make her the happiest woman. I know my son, he has a heart of gold for those whom he loves but he has a dark side too. He doesn’t forgive or spare people who wrong him. I am very afraid for both of our sons. They are going head-on into this and there will be consequences."
Amsilia could only nod at Meena’s words but inside her own heart was deeply troubled too. No matter the kind of man Doran was, he was still her son and she didn’t want him to die. She knew she should talk to him.
"I will talk to Doran and see if I can put some sense into him. But I doubt that he will listen."
Amsilia shook her head in disappointment.
"Do that, I hope it can work," Meena squeezed her hands in reassurance as both women discussed the plans on how they could further help their kids resolve this without causing drama or bloodshed.

Caleb received the urgent papers that had been sent for Doran. His friend had been in a horrible mood for the last few days and had been snapping at him and other employees.
Opening the thick brown envelope they had come in Caleb was left rooted to the ground and almost dropped them. They were divorce papers, his friend had been served by Skyla. He had known for a while now that their marriage and relationship were turbulent but he didn’t know the situation was this bad.
He decided to read them before taking them to Doran, just to see what causes had been stated in it as the reason for divorce and once again he was stunned beyond his imagination.
Physical and mental torture. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Physical assault.
Abuse.
Usurping her father’s company.
Withholding her rightful shares in Adams Corporation.
The more Caleb read the more nauseated he felt. It was like reading about someone he didn’t even know and not his best friend.
He closed the file in disgust and made his way to Doran’s office. Entering it he saw Doran was sitting lost in thoughts of who knew what.
Caleb approached him on heavy steps with his lips bunched together to keep the surging anger inside of him.
He dropped the file in front of him with a loud thud. Doran lifted his dead eyes and gave him a questioning look.
Caleb asked in an enraged voice.
"Is this true? Do you hit and torture your wife? Because she has just served you with divorce."
