Chapter 148: Doran’s Rage
Doran almost stumbled out of his seat at his friend’s words and that angry expression on his face. But years of practice kept him rooted to his spot.
He locked his eyes with his best friend and sneered.
"That bitch has been cheating on me with that masked ass and when I found out and confronted her, she ran away from home and pinned these false charges on me along with divorce."
Caleb’s eyes widened with shock but he couldn’t believe what Doran was saying. He knew Zyair didn’t touch women and Skyla didn’t seem that type of a girl.
"You are lying," Caleb replied in confusion, trying to decipher his friend.
"You are on my side or hers? You are my best friend, aren’t you supposed to support me? I am going to drag her to the court and show the world what an ungrateful bitch she has been. I won’t sign these."
Doran haughtily replied, his insides burnt with rage at the audacity of his wife. He would teach her such a lesson that her legs would tremble from mere his name.
"I don’t even know what to believe, Doran. But for your sake, I am hoping whatever you are saying is true. Because if it’s not, you and me, we will be done." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Caleb threw one lingering glance at his friend who was seething underneath that calm facade he was trying to keep before exiting his office, banging the door behind him.
As soon as the door closed Doran’s hand fisted and he banged the desk with it. Grabbing the file Caleb had left him, he threw it open and began to read.
By the time he was done, his eyes were pits of burning blue flare tipping him into the fires of madness.
"How dare you, Skyla?" He shouted in frustration, fisting his hair.
There was a card from her lawyer in the file which stated he should contact her. Skyla had already blocked his number and he knew she was hiding at her friend’s place. She was the one Skyla always turned to.
Doran didn’t know Huria’s address so he decided to call her lawyer and get everything straight.
Picking up his phone he punched in the numbers and hit the call button. He impatiently waited when a stern voice from the other end reached him.
"Hello! How may I help you?"
"Sylvia Hizar?" He questioned in a gruff annoying sound.
"Speaking," she answered in one word, knowing too well who it might be.
"I am Doran Blackthorn and I would like to speak with my wife, Skyla."
"Technically she is not your wife anymore because she has already signed the divorce papers. And she doesn’t wish to talk to you, she is going to obtain a restraining order against you. So do yourself mercy and sign the papers so we can get this over without any drags." Sylvia tried to inform him as calmly as possible.
"She will always be my wife and I am not signing these damn papers. She has been cheating on me and now dares to file for divorce so she could be with her lover. I am going to sue her for trying to ruin my reputation." He all but shouted out in frustration.
"Well, I tried to warn you but I guess you want to play it the hard way. We will see you in court then where I will bury you so under that no one will even find you, Mr Doran. Good luck."
The call ended with a click as Sylvia hung up on him, leaving him more frustrated than ever. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
He stood up with his hands on his desk, palms down. Raging and fuming like a bloody bull he bellowed. His hand swiped away everything that lay on his desk. Pens, documents, paperweights everything went flying and cluttered to the ground.
The door opened and Karen came rushing inside, her eyes large in bewilderment.
"What happened?" She questioned, drawing near him and seeing the mess he had made. He threw one angered glance at her and seethed out, clutching his desk and bending over it slightly.
"Get me a defence attorney who also knows how to handle divorce and defamation cases. I want the fucking best. Be quick now."
Karen’s whole body shook in excitement at the news. But she tried to keep her emotions in check. That bitch was finally going to leave his life and he will be hers. She scrambled back to her office on her long heels to get her boss what he wanted.
Once the door closed, Doran picked up his own phone and called the journalist who had tipped him about Amber’s case and the reality behind it. He needed evidence and only Amber could give that to him. He was going to sue Zyair and Skyla for a huge sum of money.

Skyla was working on her comic when her phone rang. Picking it up she saw it was Sylvia. Her heart instantly sped up, she must have news on the divorce papers.
Swiping to the right she attended the call and placed the phone on her ear.
"Hello!"
"Hello! Skyla. I am afraid I don’t have good news. Your husband refused to sign the papers, we are going to court. He is taking the stance that you cheated on him so it’s going to get ugly."
Her words shook Skyla’s world. This is what she had feared and her worst nightmare was about to come true. She gulped but kept her fears at bay.
Remembering her promise to Zyair she knew she had to be strong. Clutching the one-winged
Angel’s necklace Skyla asked.
"What do I need to do?"
"Firstly you have to tell me if you and Mr Zyair had sex or not? As your lawyer, I need the truth from you because it can come back to bite us if there is any evidence present with your husband," Sylvia bluntly asked.
Skyla wasn’t sure how much she should reveal to her but knowing that Amber’s case was there she knew she had to tell Sylvia at least a little bit.
"Can we talk in person? I will tell you all the details," Skyla sincerely answered.
"Come to my office, we have to start preparing for the case as well and file it in court as soon as possible. And Miss Skyla, please come alone," Sylvia requested in a serious voice.
"I am on my way."
Skyla ended the call, she was shaking uncontrollably. She dialled Huria and informed her of the proceedings.
"I am heading to Miss Sylvia’s place. I guess we are going to court and inevitable is going to happen. Doran is going to drag my name through the mud," Skyla lamented.
"Don’t worry, Skyla. With evidence, we have against him and Mr Zyair by your side, there is no way he will win even when he has such huge support. Go and be awesome, I will join you there once I get free from the office," Huria encouraged her friends and that’s what Skyla needed.
With determination, she got ready and left the house to embrace this difficult time in her life like a warrior queen.
