Chapter 132: I am done.
"None of your damn business. Place it back," she sternly told him, not letting him intimidate her. He scoffed but did not attempt to do as she had said.
"Close the door, we need to talk." He pointed to a place near him so she could come and sit down. She threw one hateful look at him and remained unmoved.
"I have nothing to talk to you about. Get out of my room," she told him flatly.
"Your room? Last I checked, Skyla. This is my house. And people here live according to my wishes, not theirs. I let you have a separate room because you needed space but looks like I have been too lenient. You in return became so bold as to go and sleep with another man."
He accused dryly, staring dead straight into her eyes as usual all his words were void of emotions, his eyes were like icicles which froze her heart.
She snorted but her heart had skipped a few beats. She countered.
"I am not you. I don’t sleep around."
"Don’t play dumb, it had been right in front of me but I was too blind to see. I trusted you but all this time you have been fooling me."
Then he evilly smiled as his hands stretched Cuddles and her heart screamed in pain. She rushed forward but was too late.
~Rip~
The horrible sound of tearing apart hit her ears. Doran had ripped its head, it dangled to the side as the wool spurted out from inside it.
The scream of her anguish echoed mirthlessly in that room as he heartlessly threw it aside with a sneer covering his face.
"How could you?" She picked up Cuddle’s torn body and hugged it to her chest. Tears brimmed up in her angered eyes.
"Zyair gave it to you. Didn’t he? Your reaction says it all. The little someone who told me that both of you have been snagging was right. Now I can see, it’s written all over your face."
Like a fiend who enjoyed tormenting his victims, he tilted his head at her, observing her reaction.
"I don’t know what you are even talking about. He respects me like you can’t even fathom in your wildest dreams. And unlike you, I respect the marriage bond." She shook her head vigorously, mostly in disappointment.
"Our marriage is a fraud. Seriously I am amazed it took you so long to start cheating. I was expecting you to do it long before. Because that’s what women do. Cheat and bring pain to others around them."
He smiled a cold smile which made Skyla shudder but she remained steadfast.
"I don’t know if you are just a misogynist or if someone truly hurt you. But not everyone’s the same. Just like not all men are evil like you."
He leaned forward at her words and she took a step back.
"You don’t know the half of it, Skyla. I protected you from this cruel world and that’s how you repaid me. Seeking out another man."
Skyla couldn’t believe the nonsense he was sprouting. She pointed to herself.
"Protected me? You abused me, you usurped my rights and squashed my freedom. You killed my confidence. I can’t even talk to people without getting embarrassed or anxious. I cry myself to sleep, alone and lonely. That’s what you have done to me," she all but shouted, unable to hold back her tears. They streamed down her face one after the other.
The guilt that pinged Doran’s heart was hidden behind the sad ugly smile he offered her. Inside he knew he was fighting a losing battle now. He could clearly see it on her face, she was not afraid of him anymore. She had someone to protect her now. It was evident in her confident stature, she no longer cowered away in fear from him.
"Is that why you fell in love with him?" He quietly asked, gathering his legs and standing up from her bed. His words shook her and she returned his gaze with an astonished one. Her mouth hanging open.
"All the signs are so visible, Skyla. They have been for a while. The utmost respect you show him. The way you lie for him. You let me beat you up, even burn you but you wouldn’t give me any information related to him. The way your eyes shine whenever you talk about him or return home from the office. The way you smile. It’s all there, all I had to do was connect the dots. Tell me if I am lying. Won’t you choose him if you ever get a chance to?" ƒrēewebnovel.com
He asked, the anger bubbling inside of him, any second and he would burst like a volcano, burning her.
"You have completely lost your mind. I am in no mood to listen to this nonsense.." freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"Nonsense?" He cut her off, "Fickle is the second name for women, all of you are just the same. You can’t bear to hear the truth. So tell me how many times you let him fuck you?" He reached forward and grabbed her left arm so she wouldn’t escape.
"For the tenth time, I didn’t and let go of me. You and I, we are done." She declared with finality. Doran was saying what Skyla herself was refusing to accept. Her feelings for Zyair.
"Skyla, we will never be done. If you think Zyair is your salvation and I will just let him sweep my wife away then you are mistaken. Don’t forget your father’s company is still in my hands."
There was a time when such words used to scare her into silence. She would have no choice but to give in and obey. But not anymore, for the first time in life, Skyla had a choice and she needed to make it. And today she realised this was the time to make it.
"Doran, we are. So it would be better if you would let me go," she informed him with a very straight face.
Anger boiled through him and he couldn’t hold himself back any longer. In his crazy mind, she was his toy and no one would take her from him.
His hand lunged towards her hair while she tried to set herself free, coiling back. All he could grab was her precious hairpin.
Doran’s eyes burnt with hatred and jealousy. Two emotions which brought nothing but destruction. He threw one close glance at the pin and understood how expensive it was. He had been seeing it a lot in her hair lately.
"Did he give you this too?" He blasted like a madman, waving the pin in her face.
"Give it back, Doran," she ordered, deadpan. Her face convulsed in hatred.
"Haw! So I am right." The devilish smile appeared at the corners of his very thin lips, twitching them upwards.
The pin silently dropped from his hand, hitting the floor with a low clink sound. Doran’s boot landed on it amidst Skyla’s anguished screams.
"Nooo, please, noo, don’t."
But Doran showed no mercy as he stomped over it again and again until he completely broke and shattered it into tiny pieces. Never to be put together again.
She watched her pin with such vulnerability as tear after tear escaped her eyes and then she lifted her face to stare at the devil personified.
Vile hatred was all Doran saw on her face as she did what Doran had never even imagined she could ever do.
She punched his face.
Long and hard, putting all of her anger, resentment, hate and abhorrence behind it.
His head whipped in the other direction and his grip loosened on her arm. She broke her wrist free as she spat out.
"I hate you, burn in hell."
"You wretched woman," he shouted from behind her. But she rushed out of there with tears falling uncontrollably. All that commotion had reached Amsilia and she met Skyla while she was running out towards the foyer.
"Skyla! My child, what happened?" She asked in horror.
"I am leaving this forsaken place. I will never return. I am done," she hiccuped, wiping her tears.
Half-torn Cuddles still clinging to her chest.
Instead of stopping her, Amsilia said with determination.
"Go, my child. Take my car."
Skyla flung herself at her mother-in-law. They held each other and cried together. Then Skyla left that house with only her bag and Cuddles.
She threw one final teary glance at the place which never became her home. The last thing she heard was Doran and Amsilia fighting inside.
But she hit the accelerator and didn’t look back.
She had no clue where she was going when she finally stopped in front of an apartment and haggardly climbed out.
Staggering up a couple of stairs she hit the doorbell. As soon as the door swung open she broke down with these words.
"He killed Cuddles and broke my pin. I want a divorce. I am never going back."
