Chapter 130: Yes, Sensei!
Amber fiasco didn’t die down. To avoid it turning into a high-profile case Zyair had to utilise a lot of resources. If his name alone was on the line he would have dragged Amber but Skyla’s name was being tarnished too. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
It took a few weeks but Amber was finally sentenced to three years of imprisonment on charges of false accusation of rape, defamation and wrongly accusing the CEO of Kincaid International.
The case was kept out of the media limelight but a small article was printed about her trying to slander the company name.
Zyair also issued an official statement without going into extensive details about how she was trying to defame him and the company.
A meeting was held with all the department heads. Skyla and Lawrence accompanied him as he settled on his executive chair.
His poised posture and clasped hands didn’t reveal his inner turmoil. Zyair wanted to ensure everyone would know their limits and not test him again.
All eyes were on him, the silence shrouded the meeting room irrespective of so many people present in it. He began.
"I hope everyone knows by now why we have gathered here. An unfortunate incident that should never have happened took place right inside my office. Resulting in the breaching of my privacy which all of you know I take very seriously."
He pinned all of them with a glare, letting them know this was something he didn’t take lightly. Fearful eyes stared back at him as he revealed more.
"The top floor is reserved and I trusted my employees enough to follow the company rules and not access it. That’s why entry was not limited but seems like I made a mistake. From now onwards only people with access will be permitted on my floor. Do I make myself clear?"
The authority in his voice boomed deep in the room. Skyla could see how every person seemed on edge because of his angered state.
"Yes! Sir." They answered in unison.
"Any further breach will not be tolerated and will be deftly dealt with." He informed them with deadly seriousness.
"If anyone has any funny notions that they can blackmail me, leak data about me or use any other false means to try to bring me down. Then drill this in mind that I will hunt you down and hurt you in ways that you will be sorry that you ever met me."
The angry Zyair Kincaid was scary indeed and no one dared utter a single word.
More rules he had set up were explained before the meeting was adjourned. Everyone quickly scurried away. Leaving only the people he wanted behind.
"Mr Gairo I would personally interview candidates for the position of brand manager (a position which had been vacated by Amber)."
"I will ensure that," he quickly answered as they discussed how to keep the media away from prying into his private life.
"We will have to be more careful with paparazzi too. They will be on your toes to get any juicy titbits." Lawrence offered his viewpoint and Zyair knew he had to be extra careful, especially with Skyla involved.
"Yes, the reality is known to only a handful of people and I want to keep it that way. At least for three years. Amber would keep her mouth shut."
"I hope she doesn’t yap to the media to gain sympathy," Skyla wondered out loud and Zyair turned his head to face her.
"That will not happen. I have ensured she doesn’t talk to the media and stays quiet or her sentence will be lengthened. I think she is smart enough to not want that."
Zyair’s reassurance lessened some of Skyla’s fears.
Soon they ended their discussion and he returned to his office, telling Skyla to follow him.
All the elevators that led to the top floor now needed a hand scan by either Zyair, Skyla, Lawrence, Gairo or the two personal guards of Zyair. No one without them or their permission could access it.
He had already started giving Skyla some self-defence classes. He had started with pretty basic stuff. How to defend against a hit and how to land a punch, plus how to kick in the groin.
The last one was on purpose.
Once he closed the door of his office he turned to face her. All that tenseness and displeasure had been replaced by that softness reserved only for her.
"Skyla, change. We will train now."
She was keeping gym attire in his luxurious bathroom. Every day she would change her clothes and train with Zyair in his spacious office.
"Alright." Skyla placed her tablet and purse on his desk and proceeded to his bathroom to change from her skirt and blouse to black yoga pants and sports top.
She tied up her smooth hair in a high ponytail using a scrunchie and exited the bathroom.
Zyair had removed his shoes which lay neatly in a corner. His suit jacket had been draped around his executive chair. His watch had been systematically placed on his tidy desk. Unbuttoning his sky-blue shirt he rolled up the sleeves revealing his buffed arms, the inky streams of blue ran all along them.
He turned and their eyes met. She owned this look as well, appearing like a professional athlete. He would certainly turn her into one strong lady.
Skyla’s eyes lowered and rested on his arms, she could never get tired of watching them. The way those blue veins jutted out, was so inviting that she wanted to press them with her fingers.
’Focus,’ she reminded herself.
"Remove your shoes and take your stance," he instructed. Skyla instantly obeyed. Placing them aside. Never in a straight line, one of the shoes tilted over. Zyair had to suppress a smile seeing how clumsily she always handled her shoes.
He picked up and placed the free-standing punching bag in front of her which they had been using for their practice.
She straightened up and took the stance as Zyair had taught her. He stepped closer and corrected her arm position.
"Like this, hold your punch and extend your arm. Now try and punch this." He turned the other side of the bag towards her.
For a second she was startled to see what he had attached to it and then she burst into soft giggles and bent over laughing. Holding her knees with her hands she couldn’t stop the erupting cackles.
"What? I thought you would need an incentive to throw a solid punch," he feigned innocence. He had attached Doran’s picture to it.
"Of course!" She finally straightened up and tried to make a straight face but it was not easy.
"Come on, let’s punch this bastard." She took her stand again and moving her arm back she punched, bending her wrist. Zyair was standing at her side observing her flimsy punch. She winced as her fist connected with the bag and he raised his hand stopping her.
"No, you are bending your wrist. It should remain straight, like this. And your knuckles, they should be the ones making the most connection." He caught her wrist and guided her again.
"Now imagine this bag is him and punch him as hard as you can." He positioned her and took a step back, giving her space.
"Yes, Sensei!" She knowingly smiled while Zyair melted for the hundredth time. From the moment she had started calling him this, he couldn’t get enough of this single word.
