Chapter 128: Trust Him
Skyla’s heart went crazy, tensing up her body as his arm elegantly wrapped itself around her waist and his forehead rested on her lips. The palms of her hands excessively began to sweat in the nervousness.
"Ummm...," she mumbled.
"Please! Let me stay like this for a little while longer. I need you right now," the desperation in his words eased her tensed muscles.
She could tell he was hurting. All that elaborate facade he had been keeping slightly crumbled, giving her a glimpse of what he battled every day.
"I am here," she barely whispered, her hands gently holding his head. His eyes closed, the upheaval in his chest unknotted bit by bit as her closeness soothed him.
"I felt so disgusted when she tried to touch me. Like she was some unholy creature, not a woman. That’s not even an exaggeration but everyone’s touch repels me. Even my mom avoids it because it makes me uncomfortable. Although she means no harm, my body doesn’t want to be in the proximity of anyone. Except you," he confessed, slightly leaning back and opening his troubled eyes to look at her.
His hands held her waist so gently as if he were holding a precious flower. While Skyla arrested his face in her soft hands.
"I am sorry they made you go through all this, I truly am. I don’t know what they did to you and can’t take back the hurt that has been caused. But as long as I am alive, no woman or man will hurt you or invade your personal space."
Zyair had no clue from where she gathered such determination. Her eyes were not timid in that instant, they held this unbreakable resolve. But her next words baffled him even more.
"Can you teach me some moves of self-defence? Or karate or something similar. So people will stop violating us, invading our personal space and hurting us."
He smiled underneath his mask, a smile of seeing this new side of her. She was ready to fight her and his battles single-handedly. And he would empower her so people like Doran would stop hurting her.
"It will be my pleasure. This look of confidence is very beautiful on you and I want to see it grow. We will start tomorrow in my office."
He informed her and she nodded in comprehension.
"But you will eat a lot more than what you are doing right now. You will need to build up muscle strength. Can you promise to take more proteins and follow the chart I will give you?"
"I promise." She raised her hand without any reluctance as if taking a pledge.
"That’s my beautiful Lily," he had purposely been using the name she had told him 22 years ago.
Every time he said the word ’my’ the chords of her heart would stir like they had never done for anyone else.
’His? Could I ever be?’ She didn’t want to burden him with the baggage she carried or put his life on the line because her heartless husband would go to any length to hurt him.
But at the same time all these new feelings he invoked inside of her. She wanted to explore these uncharted waters with him. To let him own every piece of her, let him mark and burn her with his existence until what was left was them.
He must have sensed her hesitation or maybe the look in her eyes changed. Could he be a mind reader though? Because his next words proved he was one.
"Divorce him, Skyla. Be mine, in body and soul. I will show you a world you can’t even grasp in your imagination. Just trust me and let go." He plucked her hand from his face and placed it on his frantically beating heart.
"See what you do to me? This doesn’t race for anyone but you. Let it meet its counterpart."
He earnestly begged, searching her eyes for an answer. But she was refusing to meet his burning gaze. She was still reluctant, still hiding something, still not opening up to him.
"I—umm..."
"How long Skyla? How long will it take for you to realise that we belong together? No matter what he threatens you with, I will take care of that. Can’t you just give all of your worries to me?" He pressed her hand further into his warm chest, letting her feel his turbulent heart.
The swift knock on the door startled them and their conversation was disrupted. She almost sprang out of his lap and fell but he kept her steady.
"Easy, nothing will happen." He held back his laughter and helped her stand up. Her cheeks needed no blush to turn pink, his words were enough.
He proceeded towards the door and opened it. It was Meena.
"Zyair, the night is falling, it’s time for dinner. Let Skyla come and eat something, I am sure you have been boring her with office talk."
Zyair smirked so widely under his mask, only if his mother knew that he had been wooing a married lady. Telling her to divorce her asshole of a husband and give him a chance.
All in due time.
"Of course, I will bring her to the drawing room," he respectfully stated and watched his mom leave.
Turning back to Skyla he approached her with a smirk, reflected as slyness in his eyes. She was back to being shy and cute.
"You look so beautiful today, Skyla. I love this dress," he wholeheartedly praised her.
"Thank you!" She mumbled without meeting his eyes. He tilted her head up putting a little force under her chin.
"Think about what I said. Will you?" Placing his covered lips on her hat he slowly kissed her and let go.
Her senses had refused to function anymore, she could only bob her head.
"Good! Come now. What a bad host I am turning into, making you starve." He led her outside his room and towards the drawing room where the elder ladies were waiting for them.
He left her with them so he could go and freshen up first and later join them. Amsilia could sense this protectiveness in Zyair’s stance for Skyla. While Skyla had this radiant glow about her which she had never seen when she was around Doran.
They looked good too, the way they smiled at each other and politely spoke. This was the match she had to make after she helped Skyla break the marriage with her son.
The dinner was filled with laughter and chatter. Zyair had an easy-going personality, especially with people he was comfortable with. Although he didn’t eat with them he told small jokes to keep the conversation light and put a smile on the face of the girl of his dreams.
After the dinner, both ladies were set to leave when Meena brought out some fancy-looking bags and handed them to Skyla. freёwebnoѵel.com

"Here are some dresses for you dear. Zyair has chosen them from the lot I had. We would like for you to accept them as a gift for coming to our home for the first time."
