Chapter 84: Fighting Back
It was afternoon.
After the lessons ended, Belian and Mika relaxed on a bench near the academy.
"Sorry, for dragging you into this mess."
Mika had an apologetic smile.
"It’s fine. After all, everyone will profit from the end of this senseless dispute."
One hour prior.
The day went on like usual since Mika returned to the classroom after his little brawl with the other class.
However, before the last lesson for today ended, Mika asked Ralph for a few minutes.
"Everyone, before you go I ask for your attention." Mika stated loud and clear as he stood before the teacher’s podium with Ralph beside him.
"I will come straight to the point."
Mika clenched the sides of the podium.
"I intend to put an end to the conflict among the first-years."
Shortly after his announcement, chatter broke out amongst his fellow classmates. Some sounded overjoyed, whereas there were also some doubtful voices.
"I won’t force you to do anything, however, if you want to prove your worth to your enemies, then..."
Back to the present.
"But I must admit that your strategy, or whatever you called it, is pretty straightforward." Belian remarked with a sigh.
"I never said that it was a strategy. It’s just my recommendation." Mika replied as he stared at the sky.
"Of course, it was mainly my fault for this situation to escalate to such a scale, but nonetheless they can’t keep hiding from them. What if a day comes when I won’t be in their class? What will they do? Are they going to keep on cowering in front of the stronger ones?" Mika added.
He shifted his gaze to the front again.
"They have to be strong-willed. They need to show everyone that they shouldn’t be underestimated."
"I see. So that’s why you did this." Belian said with crossed arms.
At the same time in the main hall of the academy.
A large crowd consisting of students wearing black uniforms was spotted.
They went through the bulletin board for quests. They chatted with their friends. They strolled around leisurely.
It seemed like a couple of months ago. Before the conflict started.
The students could finally be themselves and show themselves in the public again.
"Or that’s what they intended to do..." Harik commented sternly, leaning his back on the wall.
"But can you hold it against them?~" Rachel remarked, putting her hand on her yawning mouth.
The black-class students tried to behave naturally, however a glimpse of anxiety and nervousness was still visible on each of their faces.
"If they were told to return to their usual routine, after hiding in fear for so long, do you really think that they could do so without any problems?" Rachel said.
"..."
Harik recalled Mika’s words.
"Assemble in the main hall. Be yourselves. Do whatever you want there. And don’t let anyone take away this right from you. Show them that you belong here." Harik muttered.
"Basically, he’s telling them to resist against the other classes." Rachel said, smirking impressed.
Harik nodded.
"Still, I wish I could be with those two..." Harik admitted with a disappointed sigh.
"Are you stupid? The two of us have to stay here, in case the situation takes a turn for the worse."
"But-"
"The other two aren’t doing this for fun, you know?"
Rachel yawned again.
"It seems like they’re coming out~"
Harik’s gaze shifted towards the portal of the red classroom.
The black-class students broke into a cold sweat when they noticed that as well, but they had to act like that was no big deal.
Then, silver and red students emerged from the portal one after another.
"What’s going on here?"
It was Cail, who had a frown on his face, seeing the crowd of black class students.
He scanned the crowd for a certain person.
The students behind him came to a halt and were wondering the same.
"Hey, what are you doing here?!"
"So you finally decided to crawl out of your holes, huh?"
"Still learned your lessons?"
Quickly, multiple students from the silver-red class were approaching the black class intimidatingly.
"W-what’s wrong with us being here...?"
"W-we’re also students, you know?"
"T-that’s right...!"
They tried to retort with yet sheepish voices.
Cail sighed.
"I don’t have time for this. Follow me." he said uninterested as he walked right into the crowd.
Some red students were following him with their gazes directed to the front.
"..."
The black class reflexively made a path for them.
"You may deal with them as you like." Cail stated to his classmates without even looking at them as he exited.
"Heh, it’s just like Mika said!" Harik huffed with a wide smile.
Rachel rubbed her drowsy eyes.
"Cail truly is..."
Back to Mika and Belian.
"That idiot is obsessed with me." Mika said casually, still relaxing on the bench.
"Just what did you do to him...?" Belian wondered in disbelief.
"I? I did absolutely nothing."
While the two were chatting without a care in the world, students started to approach them from each angle.
Obviously, Belian and Mika noticed them.
"I guess, it’s time now to do our part..." Mika said as he and Belian stood up from the bench.
And as far as their eyes could reach, there were only red and a couple of white students.
"I haven’t seen them before." Belian stated.
"..."
Mika squinted his eyes as he recognized someone among the crowd.
"I’ve seen that guy before..." he said in a suspecting tone.
Just like the rest, that guy wore a black armband on his upper arm with the white letter ’D’ on it.
"Really? I don’t recognize him either."
"Hmm... I think his name was Ramel Comeat..."
"It’s Ramaal Codik!"
Said person stepped out of the crowd. He had pink hair and a tall and lean figure.
And his name was Ramaal Codik, a fire mage from the disciplinary committee.
"Oh, right! Thanks!" Mika said after he remembered again.
"You’re just mocking me, aren’t you...?" Ramaal remarked with gritted teeth.
Ramaal formed a fist.
"Stop it. Or else, you will embarrass yourself again." another student emerged.
He grabbed Ramaal’s shoulder from behind.
"And who are you?" Mika asked.
That student was even taller than Ramaal and a lot more bulky. His short yellow hair was standing up like a brush.
"I’m Grun Saja! Member of the disciplinary committee!" he introduced himself loudly with his icy blue eyes directed at Mika.
He was also a red-class student.
"We’re here because we were informed about your misconduct this morning, Mika Elbar! Therefore, we will now proceed with your punishment!" Grun shouted, standing straight. freewebnøvel.coɱ
However, his face remained indifferent as he raised his voice.
"Punishment? What will it be?" Mika asked with a mocking smirk.
"Isn’t it obvious?" Ramaal chimed in provokingly.
"..."
Belian looked around.
"Is it really necessary to send out so many students for just one person?" he asked.
He counted roughly 20 students. And among those 20 were three white-class students.
"You’re right. This may seem over the top."
"Then, what’s the real reason?" Mika asked despite knowing the answer.
"As proud members of the disciplinary committee and as second-year students, we have to uphold our reputation. Thus, we can’t allow ourselves to live with the shame of having a mere first-year beat one of us. Not to mention, from a black-class student." Grun elaborated, giving a side glance to Ramaal, who shrank in embarrassment.
Mika drew his rusty sword.
"Just like I expected." he stated confidently.
"So? What’s the plan now?" Belian asked while flames started to gather in his hands.
"Heh, do the two of us need a plan?" Mika joked.
Belian sighed.
"I see."
The students from the disciplinary committee also took up their fighting stances.
"Wait."
But then, another student emerged from the crowd.
This time it was a white-class student.
"V-vice-president...?" Grun stuttered surprised while walking backward.
The student was a girl, carrying a rapier on her thin waist.
Her long and silky brown hair was tied into a ponytail with her bangs covering her forehead. She was a lot taller than other girls her age and her chest seemed rather modest.
"I will be enough against them." she stated sternly.
Her round yellow eyes, which were filled with honesty, showed that she was a lightning mage. To be more specific, an S-rank lightning mage due to her white uniform.
She drew out the rapier, pointing at Mika.
"Is that a relic...?" Mika muttered pensively.
"My name is Lisa Vonder. And I will be the one taking you into custody!" she proclaimed confidently and sternly.
"I’m Mika Elbar, a black-class student, who will end this stupid conflict and your stupid group of barbarians!"
The area around Mika began to shine brightly.
"W-what is that light?!"
"A-a relic?!"
"My eyes!"
When the light dimmed down, Mika stood there in his unsealed appearance.
He did not look at Belian.
"Belian, stand back and watch for now. I will be done with everyone in less than three minutes."
