Chapter 185: Hand-To-Hand
The match between Asak and Mika started.
And Asak did not waste even a single second as he launched a high kick to the chin.
"..."
It only scratched Mika’s chin because Mika managed to dodge in time. Still, Mika was taken off guard by Asak’s technique and agility.
When Asak put his leg down, he jumped forward and attempted a sidekick to the temple.
"!"
Mika ducked but Asak appeared like he predicted that pattern of Mika. Thus, he used the force from the sidekick to rotate in the air and then used his other leg to hammer his heel down on Mika’s head.
And this time, it was a direct hit, causing Mika’s face to slam into the ground brutally.
"And you were the one, who claimed to be able to beat every single one of us? Don’t make me laugh!" he huffed at Mika, who was not moving.
Everyone also stopped moving, surprised by the outcome, especially after Mika’s grand speech about how he and his classmates could take them all on. Some were snickering and some were clicking their tongue out of disappointment and spite.
"..."
However, Mika was slowly lifting his head from the ground and pushed himself off the sandy soil. He wiped the blood from his nose and mouth before he faced Asak again.
"I guess I truly did underestimate you... After that little interaction between us in front of the palace, I thought that you were just a small fry..." Mika huffed back.
"..."
Asak turned grim before he rushed towards him again.
Once more, he tried to hit his temple with a kick.
"?"
But Mika caught his ankle.
"Tch."
Mika was about to reach out for Asak but Asak, in turn, grabbed the arm and jumped into Mika knee-first. The knee hit Mika in the nose again, however, before Asak could create some distance, Mika headbutted him, slamming his forehead against Asak’s nose.
"Argh!"
Asak stumbled to the back.
And as he did so, Mika followed after him and continued by throwing a punch to his face.
"Ugh...!"
Losing the balance after the punch, Asak was about to fall on the ground but before he fell, used enough force to swing his leg in the direction of Mika’s face.
"!"
Mika was hit.
Both stumbled to the ground, spitting blood out of their mouth.
But they immediately got up, albeit tiredly.
It was also the moment that everyone was captivated by the match, forgetting that they were in the middle of class. Even their instructor was in awe.
"?"
Ophelia, who was also focused, thought that she heard a noise in her vicinity, resembling a silent grunt.
"Why don’t you give up already...? Your body, especially, your head must be in agony after receiving all the kicks." Asak mocked Mika with a grin.
"I won’t do anything of the likes until I manage to beat that mad smile out of your face..." Mika replied with a sharp gaze.
Then, the two boys exchanged one attack after another without pulling back. Even if they received a direct hit in the face, they followed up with a counterattack.
The sand around them also started to get stained with drops of blood.
"..."
At first, it seemed like they were on equal footing but soon they noticed that Asak began to take over until a kick to the stomach sent Mika flying.
On the ground, Mika was breathing raggedly.
"You still don’t have enough...?"
Asak was also exhausted.
"..."
Even though he was struggling, Mika was able to get on his feet again.
"I admit... You’re skilled..."
"?"
Asak sensed something strange around Mika.
"But I won’t lose against you..."
Not too long ago, Mika received a reward for fighting against Belian and Sara.
"I refused to copy Sara’s swordsmanship, however..." Mika muttered.
[So you have something else in mind?]
"Yes. I want to copy..."
Asak was observing Mika, who was mumbling something to himself. But of course, he soon lost his patience and decided to ambush him.
[Skill was successfully copied.]
"?!"
His fist was on its way to Mika’s face, however, Asak suddenly got the chills.
The punch connected and Mika was about to fall on his back again. However, he somehow managed to stand.
Mika clenched his right fist.
And with a sound as loud as a bang, Mika punched Asak right back in the face, slamming him to the ground.
"Hm...?"
Ophelia squinted her eyes on Mika, noticing something familiar.
"What the hell...?" Asak muttered confused as he got up.
Asak raised his right leg in an attempt to hit Mika’s temple. He thought that Mika would, just like anyone else, try to dodge but instead, he was ignoring the attack and took a step forward, retracting his arm at the same time.
The shin hit Mika in the temple, however, Mika landed another straight punch to Asak’s face.
"Keh...!" Mika grumbled in pain.
But he kept moving instead of being paralyzed by the shock and pain.
He jumped on Asak, launching one punch across the face, followed by a kick to the stomach and a two-handed finisher, hammering him down to the ground.
In the meantime, Asak tried to counterattack and to defend himself but it looked like Mika did not even bother to defend himself and just focused on attacking.
Overall, it felt like he was fighting against someone, who only relied on beast-like instincts.
"...?"
Asak was too tired to even move and could only watch as Mika was lifting his body up by grabbing his neck.
Lightly, Mika threw Asak in the air and prepared to knock him out for good with a punch.
"Shit... You’ve won..." Asak muttered weakly.
However, Mika heard his words too late and sent Asak flying to the other side of the training field.
"..."
The students and the teacher were flabbergasted by their performance and could not utter a word.
But it was that moment, that Payl, who woke up from his slumber a while ago, used as his chance to ambush Mika as revenge.
He jumped into the air and aimed his knee at the back of Mika’s head.
"Mika!" Harik yelled.
Mika, however, already noticed Payl and took a step to the side. And before Payl was about to fly past Mika, Mika raised his elbow, which was thrust into Payl’s stomach.
"Urgh!"
Then, he quickly retracted his elbow and followed up with his backhand, slapping his face.
Payl was now on the ground.
"Uff!"
Out of character, Mika stomped on Payl’s chest and gazed coldly at him. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"You bastard..." Payl grumbled.
Black matter started to gather in his hands.
"Mika, that’s enough!" Ophelia shouted out of concern as she came running.
It was then that Mika came back to his senses.
"Is this how it feels like...?" he mumbled as he broke into a cold sweat and palmed his face.
[This is what you have wished for.]
Mika got down from Payl, who was still glaring at Mika but decided to retreat for now.
"..."
Standing in front of him, Ophelia was looking at him intensively with a feeling of uneasiness.
And before anyone else could approach them, Ophelia signaled with her hand that no one should move.
"What did you do this time...?" she whispered nervously.
Out of everyone, Ophelia may be the person, who would have noticed that the fastest.
After all, Mika used his reward to copy anything he wanted.
And he chose to copy Olivia’s combat style, which heavily relied on her already inhuman instincts and offensive prowess with a slight disregard for defense. But in addition to her cruel way of fighting, Mika also had to copy the probability of losing himself in a fight and get too immersed.
And of course, Ophelia, who knew her sister the best, immediately took notice of that.
"I-"
"Shit... Shit!" Payl yelled wrathfully.
He was on his feet again and held his black dagger in his hand.
"P-Payl, what are you doing?!"
The teacher approached him. He intended to scold him but it was visible that he was as scared as the other students. And it was noticeable that their gazes were on his dagger.
"..."
Mika shifted his stern gaze to Payl once more and this time, he drew his rusty sword.
"I have beaten you twice now. Why don’t we leave it at that?" Mika said.
"I was just caught off guard! This time, I will take this seriously!" Payl retorted as his veins were bursting on his forehead.
He lowered his body and gripped his dagger tightly in front of him.
"Now, die!" he shouted as he dashed towards Mika.
"..."
Mika just held the blade in front of him like last time out of reflex.
"Watch out! The dagger trespasses everything!" the teacher warned Mika.
"?!"
Simultaneously, Mika also remembered how it played out last time when he tried to block his dagger.
However, it was too late as the grinning Payl tried to stab Mika.
The dagger, including Payl’s right forearm, was going right through the blade as if it were nothing but air.
Mika felt the dagger beginning to shred his skin.
It was digging into the flesh on his chest.
