Chapter 140: Day 5

"Seems like your boy put my abilities to good use already, Mikaela." a woman, who sat together with two other men and a young girl at a round table, huffed satisfied with her thin arms and long legs crossed.

She had long and smooth golden hair. Her eyes were blue with its pupils being white and cross-shaped.

The woman appeared to be in her early thirties and wore a skin-revealing white dress, which was slit at the sides and held together with thin strings. In addition, she wore multiple golden accessories.

"Yes. If it was not for your ability, then this battle would have turned ugly."

It was the middle-aged-looking man with the long golden hair, who responded.

His name was Mikaela.

Just like the woman, he, too, shared the same eyes.

"Haha, no need to thank me. It’s our duty after all to assist you with this project." the woman responded with a light chuckle.

"..."

"Ehm, sorry if I’m interrupting but..."

The young man with the golden spiky hair spoke up in an awkward tone.

"What is it?"

"Why did you call for all of us...?" the man wondered with a nervous smile.

"Oh, excuse me. It seems like I got off topic."

Mikaela faced everyone at the table.

His eyes gazed for a moment at the girl, who seemed the same age as Mika and sat far away from the rest.

Her golden hair was styled into two side buns. Her blue eyes with the same pupils as everyone else were sharp and gave off an intimidating vibe.

She had a girl’s average body proportions and wore a simple white buttoned shirt and a black skirt, paired with black boots.

That girl was resting her legs on the table while having her arms on the back of her head as she continued to tilt on her chair.

"..."

She was visibly not interested in the conversation.

However, the other three at the table were used to her attitude and just let her be.

"I already reported to him but I deemed it necessary to inform you all as well." Mikaela continued.

The woman and the other man leaned closer as their gazes turned sterner.

"Let me tell you all what happened."

Thus, he told them about the events, which occurred during the invasion of Zaran and the others.

He explained the things clearly and slowly so that everyone was able to get a grasp on the situation effortlessly.

A short time passed and Mikaela was done with reporting.

He did not tell them yet why he would go to such lengths and explain to them the situation and yet, everyone in the room understood what his intentions were.

"So it’s confirmed, huh?" the woman said, closing her eyes and leaning back on her chair.

"The future won’t change..." the young man muttered somewhat saddened.

"..."

Mikaela caught a glimpse of the young man.

"Yes. After witnessing his greatest enemy, who was an opponent in the far future, we can safely conclude that we will soon see a new-"

"But doesn’t this also show that we still couldn’t get rid of the demons at that time? According to our information, the next Great Demon should awake in roughly 1000 to 1500 years. Are you telling me that we couldn’t exterminate them all until then even with that boy of yours?"

This time, the young girl gave her opinion but she seemed anything but happy.

"Hey! Mind yo-"

"It’s fine."

Mikaela signaled the other man to calm down with a hand gesture.

He then locked eyes with the girl.

"You know what I am about to say, right?"

His expression was indifferent.

Nobody could tell what he was thinking.

But that girl knew.

"..."

"..."

"I’m sorry... I let out my personal feelings again..." she apologized reluctantly while pouting.

"As long as you know."

He turned his attention to everyone again.

"This was surely not everything you wanted to tell us, am I correct?" the woman said.

"?"

The young man tilted his head in confusion.

"Nothing escapes your eyes or ears, huh?" Mikaela replied, heaving a sigh.

His sharpened eyes turned serious.

"After my meeting with him, we decided on the final mission before he gets admitted to our ranks."

"!"

The other three flinched and immediately straightened their posture.

They did not see it but Mikaela was clenching his fists under the table.

"To complete this project, he has to fight ’The Nightmare in the Sea’."

The next day.

Everyone in Loogam was asked to assemble in the arena, where the tournament had been held the past couple of days.

Surprisingly, the arena was still intact despite being one of the many places, where battles took place.

The people confusingly took a random seat, gazing down to the center, where Lucio was standing.

Prominent figures like Norman, the Tiam Siblings and Olivia were standing right beside him.

It seemed like they were waiting until everyone arrived and found a seat.

"This may be the first time we could finally talk with each other again after yesterday, huh?"

"Sylvia."

Sylvia and the rest of the white class approached Mika.

He reflexively made some space for them to sit down.

But instead of being happy, they all looked serious.

"Where’s Lily?"

"Her mother apparently got lost and she went to search for her."

"I see."

"..."

"..."

Silence.

"I’m glad you’re doing fine." Sylvia stated with an apathetic expression as she sat down.

"Yeah, I’m also glad you’re all okay."

While Sylvia sat to the right of Mika, Belian decided to sit down left of him.

Rachel and Harik took the seats behind them.

They were all silent.

There were so many things they wanted to say or ask but they did not know how to approach those topics.

"That power of yours... What is that?" Sylvia was the one to break the ice.

"..."

At the conference he stated that he acted as a support during battles, however, he did not disclose any details about how he fought.

Of course, Sylvia was the first one to suspect his statements.

Mika knew that he could no longer play the fool. Furthermore, not only did his trust in them increase a lot but he did not have to keep his powers a secret anymore.

But he was still cautious to whom he revealed his powers as it turned into a habit of Mika.

"I watched the match against the Maystra brothers. I saw what you did." Sylvia said.

"Well..."

Mika, too, had to think about how he should explain everything.

"Don’t worry. Lily is still in the unknown. At the time of the match, she was still resting in the infirmary." she added.

"Hm? Is there a reason why you’re so cautious with Lily?" Rachel chimed in, tilting her head in confusion.

"It would be too much of a hassle to explain that." Mika replied, scratching the back of his head.

"Hm..." Rachel pouted.

Harik sighed.

"Calm down, Rachel. There’s no point in forcing him for answers." Harik said.

"Anyway, can we get back to the topic?" Belian asked with crossed arms.

Like Sylvia, he was keenly interested in Mika’s powers.

"Fine..."

Mika also had to sigh as he began to explain his powers.

He started with the contract, the system and how it issued out quests, what kind of quests he had to do, what kind of rewards and punishments he would receive and of course, the heavenly relics he had in his possession.

The magic-negating sword Excalibur.

The size-changing Holy Spear.

And the time-manipulating ability.

In addition, he told them about his ability to use angel-like attributes like light, thus his change in appearance whenever he unsealed his powers.

"...and that pretty much sums it all up."

"..."

The four white-class students were speechless.

Whereas Harik and Rachel could not shut their jaws again, Belian and Sylvia only stared at him flabbergasted with big eyes.

"S-sorry but I have to digest everything you’ve just said for now..." Sylvia said taken aback as she rubbed her forehead with her fingers.

"Haha... Hahaha!" Harik suddenly burst into laughter.

"I knew that you were special." Rachel proclaimed proudly as she nodded her head multiple times.

"..."

Belian remained silent.

"Belian?"

"Incredible..." he muttered shocked. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"?"

He suddenly shot up from his seat, staring at Mika.

"You’re growing stronger at a tremendous pace."

"T-thanks?" frёewebηovel.cѳm

Then, Belian grabbed both of Mika’s shoulders tightly.

"If it’s with you, then we can really kill all de-"

"I will begin with the announcement." the headmaster of Loogam, Lucio Graymen, spoke into the magic tool, which the tournament’s announcer used.

"First of all, I want to thank you for coming here despite the different circumstances each one of you has to deal with." he added.

Today, when the people may have needed it the most, the headmaster did not show his gentle and hope-carrying smile.

"You all know what happened yesterday. I won’t retell those events for you. I won’t give words of encouragement. I won’t search for excuses. But I also won’t dwell in the past and regrets."

Then, Lucio bent his upper body forward.

"The only thing I will do is to apologize."

Many people were gasping loudly and began to chatter amongst themselves.

"I apologize for failing to protect Loogam and its people."

He straightened his posture slowly.

"Therefore, we, the representatives of the nations of Rostanta, Malnor, Grat and Loogam came to the following conclusion."

Only now did he flash his gentle smile again.

"Please abandon this piece of land, which was once proudly called the nation of Loogam."
