Chapter 141: Sudden Changes
"Please abandon this piece of land, which was once proudly called the nation of Loogam."
Most of the remaining few people were gasping loudly, shocked by Lucio’s announcement, whereas others donned an understanding or saddened expression.
"I spare you the facts as you can most likely guess it yourselves, thus I and the other leaders of other nations came to an agreement." Lucio said.
Destroyed buildings and structures.
Death of the majority of its people.
Those, who managed to survive, knew about the two biggest reasons well enough and some probably did not want to get reminded of those for a while.
"Thanks to their generosity, the nation of Rostanta, Malnor and Grat warmly welcomes you in their lands, taking care of your basic needs for the time being. In the meantime, we will work rebuilding Loogam. And after everything is said and done, you can choose if you want to return to the new Loogam or if you want to stay in either Rostanta, Malnor or Grat." the headmaster elaborated, signaling to the presence of Olivia, Norman and the Tiam siblings.
Olivia stepped forward.
"We will all depart in a few days, giving you the time to think about where you want to go. On the day of the departure, you will then make your decisions." she stated sternly.
"We have already sent out our people to take care of additional carriages, so there’s no need to worry about transportation." Norman added with a faint smile.
The addressed people were looking at each other in confusion, overwhelmed by the incoming sudden change in their lives.
"This was everything concerning you, the former residents of Loogam."
Lucio bowed slightly.
"Once more, I offer you my deepest apologies." he said.
After a while, he lifted his upper body.
His gaze was directed at the students.
"As for you, my dear students, I apologize and thank you as well for lending us your strength to support us during the invasion."
"And just like the citizens, I offer you some options for your future. You are all eligible to enroll in any academy of your choosing. Be it in Rostanta, Grat, Malnor or Starkew, you can enter anywhere you want. But if you decide to stay affiliated with the academy of Loogam, this may be possible, too."
Some students tilted their heads, while some rejoiced at the fact that they could go to any academy they wanted and continue their studies.
"We, the teachers, will adjust the schedule of the current curriculum for those who want to stay as a student of Loogam. But further information will be withheld until the third-years return in a few weeks."
Some of the teachers sat in the same rows as the students but none of them showed a change in their stoic expression nor did they look at a student.
"Now, those who want to apply for another academy may come to me personally anytime. I will see the rest of you with the third-years in a few weeks then. We will inform you about the assembly in time."
Following those words, Lucio bowed shortly and proceeded to turn his back on everyone, leaving the arena with the other nation leaders.
Then, one after another left the arena, too.
Mika and the others descended down.
At the same time, Lily, whose mother was by her side, approached the group.
"Sorry, it took me longer to find her than I thought." she stated with a clumsy smile.
"!"
However, everyone’s attention was paid to her clothes.
Unlike usual, Lily wore the uniform given to those, who were in the white class instead of her red uniform.
"Lily, you are..."
Sylvia was the first one to speak up, albeit hesitatingly.
"Oh, this?"
Lily looked at her own clothes.
"Hehe, I got promoted this morning! Amazing, right?" she giggled proudly.
"Before the assembly, the headmaster and I talked alone. That was also the moment when he told me about the rewards I accumulated during the tournament."
"And because you won in the tournament, you got promoted." Belian muttered pensively.
"That’s right but there’s even more." Lily replied with a smug smile and crossed arms.
Then, she stretched her hand forward.
Darkness gathered in her palm, trying to take on a shape.
"!"
Again, everyone widened their eyes.
In Lily’s hand was a black wand.
"How’s that?"
Lily showed off her wand with a teeth-flashing smile.
"Incredible..." Rachel murmured taken aback.
"Heh, the gap truly widened even more now..." Harik huffed quietly.
"..."
Belian just stared at it just like Mika.
"So that’s the relic, huh?"
Sylvia sounded impressed.
"Yes!"
Since Lily had to report what happened at the north gate alongside Ralph, the people, who attended the night conference in the tent, knew about her relic.
Still, seeing the relic in person was something else.
"And with that, you can turn magic into creatures and command them?" Mika asked.
Lily nodded her head.
"Let me demonstrate."
Using her wand, two pillars of flames surrounded her.
And when they dispersed, a tiger and a large snake out of flames appeared.
The others sounded amazed and clapped.
But then, another pillar emerged and a bird as tall as Lily’s upper body showed up.
"The best thing about this relic is that the previous creatures won’t disappear. Even if I summon them again, I don’t have to use much magic. I guess, most magic goes into creating a new summon." she explained.
"Does it mean you can stack the number of creatures?" Belian wondered.
"Correctly."
"H-hey, doesn’t that sound kind of broken...?" Harik asked, breaking into a cold sweat.
If she would use her wand every day and convert her magic into creatures, she could become a great threat, leading an army of powerful flame beings.
[She is really a step closer to becoming a potential member of the Grand Order.]
Mika nodded his head once with a light smile.
"By the way, if you accepted the promotion to the white class, does it mean that you intend to stay here as a student?" Rachel asked curiously.
"Hm? Of course. Are all of you still pondering about that?" Lily responded right away.
They looked at each other but the answer was clear.
"No, I’m staying, too."
"Me, too."
"I will continue my studies here as well."
"Same."
"..."
Mika did not reply yet but he had a smile on his face.
[You are thinking if it is alright to return to your previous life at the village now that Loogam is destroyed, right?]
"..."
[Then, let me tell you that you can toss that idea of yours away. This is not the end yet.]
Mika sighed. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"I will sta-"
"Mika."
"?"
Mika turned around when someone called him out.
"Ugh..." he groaned reflexively upon seeing the person.
It was Olivia Rostanta, who stood there with crossed arms and a down-looking gaze.
"I will ignore your reaction, so follow me now." she commanded.
"..."
Everyone else turned their heads away when Mika sought their help.
"Do I have to repeat myself?" Olivia said from a distance.
"I-I’m coming..."
And just like that, he reluctantly followed after Olivia.
"..."
"..."
None of them uttered a word, making Mika feel more and more uncomfortable.
They passed multiple people and buildings on the academy grounds.
But it was only when they arrived in front of a tent that Olivia stopped.
"We’re here." she said before she entered the tent.
"?"
Confused, Mika did the same.
"..."
In the tent, there was no one else besides the two and there was just a basic wooden table in the center.
A candle was lit on the table, illuminating the tent and the contents on the table.
"So for what reason did you call me...?" Mika asked nervously, trying his best to smile.
"Do you recognize those?" she asked, looking at the table with a stern gaze.
"Hm?"
Mika looked over her shoulder.
His eyes squinted.
He only saw some kind of robes on the table but it did not ring a bell yet.
"Wait..."
Only after a while, he slowly came to a realization.
"Those are... Those are the robes the demons wore on that day..." he muttered with wide-open eyes.
"That’s right."
Mika looked at Olivia.
"I’m sorry but I still don’t understand why you need m-"
"Listen."
Olivia suddenly pulled him closer to her by grabbing his collar with one hand.
"The things I’m about to tell you will be kept just among us two, understand?"
Mika nervously nodded his head.
"You see, I called especially for you because I know that you aren’t capable of something like that."
"I-is that a compliment...?"
"..."
Olivia did not react to his words and she did not feel the urge to answer that either.
"I have a bad feeling about all of this... I can’t grasp it nor can I prove it yet but..."
"?"
Olivia leaned closer to his ear as she whispered the following words.
"The whole invasion could be connected with the academy."
"!"
"W-what?"
Olivia sighed.
"There is someone from the academy who is in cahoots with the demons."
