Chapter 127: Humanity’s Number 2

With each step Dayn took, the ground was shaking.

However, instead of moving forward, he initially took a few steps back.

His opponent, Elsa, was the size of a bug compared to him, and yet, his body told him to be cautious.

His left foot was partly frozen after Elsa touched it for a short time.

"What’s wrong? Did I frighten you?" Elsa provoked him.

She glanced to the side, checking if the people, who were imprisoned, managed to escape and after she confirmed it, she changed the aura she was emitting.

"As if I let someone like you mock me!" Dayn roared as he moved his right leg.

"..."

Elsa did not react to his words, concentrating on herself.

The ground beneath her turned to ice and the air slowly dropped its temperature.

In Dayn’s giant form, his moves appeared slower, still, one hit would be more than just fatal.

He raised his right knee and then went for a kick as if Elsa was a ball.

During the motion, he destroyed the entire tower.

He swept the spot, where Elsa was located, with his foot but Elsa dodged by jumping up.

"..."

Her gaze was blank.

She stretched out her hand towards him and at that moment, dozens of small and sharp icicles appeared behind her.

Shortly after that, those icicles were aimed at Dayn.

But they all shattered against his body and did not harm him.

"Should I feel ticklish from that?" he mocked her back, regaining his sense of superiority.

"..."

Elsa landed on the ground and immediately carried out her next move.

With both hands touching the soil, she summoned large ice spikes aimed at him.

These spikes reached the same height as Dayn and were sharp at the ends.

In return, Dayn formed a fist and punched against the spikes.

The ice shattered, however, his knuckles were bleeding as a result.

Then, he formed another fist and slammed it in her direction. fгeewebnovёl.com

The earth was rumbling tremendously. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Elsa, who dodged again, was now midair.

Seeing that, Dayn swept his other hand on the ground, throwing the rubble from the tower at her.

"!"

At the pace they were coming to her, she could not stop them even if she froze them.

She could only ball up, hoping to minimize the incoming damage she would receive.

Blood splattered in the air among the rubble.

Elsa staggered when she landed.

She was covered in bruises and blood.

After spitting on the ground, she focused her eyes on him again but his giant form was nowhere to be seen anymore.

Dayn suddenly changed back to his real size.

He leaped to her and attempted to launch a kick with his right leg again.

Elsa reflexively tried to grab his leg with her freezing hand.

"!"

She widened her eyes as she noticed Dayn transforming again.

"Shi-"

Suddenly transforming into a giant at such a distance made it impossible for Elsa to either dodge or block the attack.

She was sent flying away.

He had a huge grin on his face as he gazed at the dust that was coming up from the building she crashed into.

Dayn returned to his normal size again and flew to that building leisurely.

"I wonder if she’s still kicking." Dayn muttered to himself arrogantly.

He arrived at a place, which had more buildings than the other places.

The buildings seemed like residential houses. There were also high buildings that looked like dorms.

Aside from the houses, this part of the academy grounds appeared more relaxing due to the park benches, trees and decorations.

"..."

He looked around more until he picked up the presence of a horde of people.

"Why is there such a mass of people there...?"

His eyes were squinted when he shifted his gaze in the southern direction.

Those eyes narrowed even more after he sensed a certain presence.

"I see... Ha! And I was wondering who was emitting such a ridiculous p-"

"!"

He quickly turned around, hearing heavy footsteps.

The blood did not stop dripping down from her as she tottered towards him.

"How nice of you to come looking for me..."

It was Elsa, who was still grinning despite suffering from heavy injuries and broken bones.

She held her left upper arm tightly with her right hand and her left leg slid on the ground as she dragged it with her.

Elsa was grinning widely, flashing her white teeth.

And through her mouth was a cold breath visible.

Again, the ground beneath turned to ice and the temperature around her dropped significantly.

Those symptoms spread rapidly.

Unbeknownst to him, his breath also turned cold and his skin got a little paler.

Dayn was about to take a step back but stopped himself upon realizing it.

"It’s been a long time since I was so injured so let me grant you the opportunity to witness my full magic output..." Elsa stated.

The tips of her hair showed signs of turning into ice.

Her skin, which was already snow white, turned even paler.

"..."

Dayn was gritting his teeth whether it was due to his frustration or the cold.

He realized that she may be more dangerous than he thought.

"!"

Trying to back off, he slipped and fell on his butt.

"W-what the..." he stuttered with his teeth clacking against each other.

He looked at the ground, which turned completely to ice.

"What’s wrong...?" Elsa asked him with an eerie smile.

Dayn clenched his shivering fist.

"D-damnit!"

Uttering his last words, he spread his wings and flew away.

"..."

Elsa reacted indifferently as she slowly dispersed the cold.

"Hngh!" she groaned.

She puked out blood.

"I almost had him..." she said weakly in frustration.

The technique she used was the same Sylvia used in the tournament but at a lot larger scale.

However, she needed time and concentration to pull it off.

In her current state, she could not have lasted longer than 30 seconds.

She bet on Dayn to launch a desperate attack, however, flying away was also a good outcome for her.

"I should have taken this seriously from the beginning..." she said, laughing self-deprecatingly as she dragged her half-broken body forward.

Her destination was the shelter, where Lucio was keeping the people safe.

After all, chasing after Dayn, who headed to the west, would be suicidal with her injuries.

In the meantime, Olivia was still in the arena with Zaran.

She had small cuts everywhere on her body, whereas Zaran seemed almost unscathed.

Her breathing was not ragged, however, it was also not normal.

"I expected more of you, Olivia Rostanta." Zaran stated in an indifferent tone.

"I won’t apologize." she replied with a strained grin.

For the entire time, she did not manage to land a single strike, whereas Zaran always landed his attacks, albeit shallowly.

Her smirk widened.

"But I have now a grasp on your ability." she declared confidently.

Zaran heaved a light sigh.

"Your ability is-"

"That’s correct." he admitted, cutting her off.

"It’s just like you’re imagining it." he added.

Olivia’s grin did not disappear.

Her eyes were fierce.

"Then, I can go all out now..." she stated intimidatingly as the air around her changed.

"..."

Zaran took up his fighting stance.

He knew that fighting Olivia would be different now.

"Punch to my lef-" he muttered.

Olivia appeared at his left side, launching a lightning-infused punch.

Zaran seemed surprised for the first time as he barely dodged it.

He jumped to the back.

"You may be able to read my mind but in the end, it’s useless if your body can’t keep up." Olivia said, smirking and looking down at Zaran.

"..."

His mouth was still a straight line but his eyebrows frowned just slightly.

He knew the secret of Olivia’s sudden power-up and he also knew that this fight got a lot more difficult.

And yet, he remained calm.

Because he knew he must not disappoint his liege.

Therefore, he could not afford to lose here.

The moment he tightened his grip on his sword, he sensed Dayn flying towards the arena.

And simultaneously, he noticed Mika coming closer.

"..."

Zaran closed his eyes.

A minute passed with him remaining like that until he opened his eyes again.

"I see, so you’re trying to get to Deara, huh?"

A slight grin crept onto his face.

"But I guess this is a wise decision considering that this plan came from someone who is able to watch everything unfold from above..."

He loosened up his posture and spread his wings.

"Huh? Are you trying to get away?" Olivia wondered, visibly taken aback.

She thought that this would have been a moment for both opponents to get serious.

"..."

He did not respond and flew away.

With a tilted head, she analyzed the direction he was flying until she realized that Mika, whose presence she also picked up, was there.

"Jeez, why is he so fixated on Mika...?"

More lightning gathered around her body before she was about to head to Mika as well.
