Chapter 125: Losing Sides

As of now, 4 of 19 demons were killed.

The B-rank Clara was taken care of by Mika’s group. The B-rank Zera by Belian’s group. And two C-rank demons were killed by Xander.

However, the overall situation in Loogam was far from good.

Many groups and people were struggling in their fights.

And some groups were on the brink of elimination.

The northeast group was one of those groups.

Teachers and other staff members of the academy were sent there to fend off the enemies but it proved to be more of a challenge than they initially thought.

Desperate screams and the sound of shattering bones were heard amongst the sparkles of the burning buildings.

Almost unscratched, one B-rank and one C-rank demon were dominating the northeast part of Loogam.

Only a few teachers were still alive but it was only a matter of time until they were killed.

The two demons were talking among themselves, wondering where they should head next.

A little bit more to the south was the east gate, where another duo of a B-rank and C-rank demon was causing terror. Furthermore, said duo also led an army of monsters.

Thus, it would be unnecessary for them to join their sides.

The north gate was also rejected as there were two B-ranks and one C-rank.

"But isn’t in that direction Sir Dayn?"

The two demons looked in the direction of the wall, which was separating the capital from the academy.

"..."

The B-rank demon squinted its eyes.

"He’s probably fighting against someone strong. With his hands full, maybe we can have a little fun with the humans there."

It had a wide mischievous grin.

Those, who were still alive, managed to overhear them as they showed their last effort of resistance.

But in the end, it was futile as they met their ends.

"Way too weak."

One of the two sighed at the teachers’ disappointingly display.

"I, too, thought that Loogam’s teachers were stronger than that."

"If they are that weak then conquering the human realm will be a piece of cake." the other one laughed.

"..."

The higher-ranked one looked at them.

"Let’s go."

Thus, the two demons flew in the direction of the academy’s prison, where Elsa was currently fighting against Dayn. And at the same time, they left behind utter destruction and the corpses of many staff members and a few teachers.

However, little did they know that most of the staff members were barely an A-rank, whereas the teachers were all newly hired by the academy and were just A-ranks or barely S-ranks.

The teachers, who were all S-ranks and longer at the academy, focused their strength on the north gate.

Those teachers were led by Ralph Arma, who was not only a S-rank mage but also a relic wielder.

However, their side was not looking that much better than the northeast group’s.

The gate crumbled and the buildings and streets around it were beyond help now.

Some teachers already died in battle, while the rest were trying their best.

They did not try their best to win.

They tried their best to survive.

Still, compared to the other group, the north group was able to kill the C-rank demon, leaving only the two other B-ranks.

"I’ve heard of you, Ralph Arma."

"Is that so?"

Surrounded by flames, Ralph was alone with a female demon.

No one could hear nor see them through the flames.

"Let me introduce myself then. I go by the name Martha." Martha said, following up with a polite bow.

"..."

Ralph did not smile like he usually would.

He tapped the ground once with his wooden staff, creating a sphere-like barrier around them.

"Are you sure about this? What about your comrades?" Martha asked with a grin.

"..."

However, Ralph remained silent.

Aside from the north and northeast groups, the group of second-year students also struggled in the southwest.

Even though they were the second-years’ main force, they were almost wiped out.

Some were unconscious, whereas a few even met their ends on the battlefield.

But that was to be expected as they were facing two B-rank demons.

"Lt’s kill the rest and head to the academy."

"Yeah, let’s do that."

One of those demons looked to its left and then to its right.

"I don’t see the need of going to the west or south gate, to be honest."

"I feel the same. I’m on bad terms with Deara and that Cwon guy gives me the chills..."

There was no help in sight nor was there any hope for the students to put their faith in.

At the south gate.

Cindy and Ophelia were fighting against the A-rank demon Cwon.

Those two were top S-rank mages among the teachers and despite that, it seemed like they were toyed with.

While Ophelia engaged in close-quarter combat with Cwon, Cindy offered support with her ice magic from the back.

Ophelia’s fists were fast and sharp. Nonetheless, Cwon evaded every single one of them.

However, when he went for a counterpunch, Ophelia dodged it barely. She saw an opening for once and went for it without hesitation.

"Huh?"

Her fist hit Cwon’s mask but strangely nothing happened.

There were no signs of impact or cracks on the mask.

"I just switched the strength of that other woman with yours."

"Tch!"

Ophelia immediately jumped back.

"I was right then. Her physical strength is a joke."

"..."

Cindy broke into a cold sweat when he realized one of her weaknesses.

She bent down a little.

Despite her nervousness, she managed to crack a slight smile.

"C-Cindy?" Ophelia muttered surprised, after Cindy dashed forward.

Cindy cocked back her arm and launched a punch.

"!"

Cwon put up his arms but despite blocking the attack he was pushed back.

"So what? If you switched our stats, doesn’t it also mean that I have her strength now?" Cindy remarked, still smiling nervously.

"..."

Cwon straightened his posture as he looked at Cindy.

"Impressive." he said indifferently.

Cindy summoned enormous ice spikes in his direction, but he obviously avoided being hit.

However, when he was in the air, dodging the attack, Ophelia summoned lightning, which struck him from above.

Or at least, it should have.

Cwon dodged again.

And yet, he could not catch a break as Cindy was running on the ice spikes she created. Cindy jumped off the edge and was about to launch a heel kick.

"Ugh...!"

Cwon grabbed her leg and threw her to the ground.

"It was a mistake to use your magic."

Perplexed, she looked at him.

"Get away, Cindy!" Ophelia shouted in panic.

Cindy got up and was about to run away but Cwon grabbed her arm.

He retracted his arm before he thrust it into the stomach.

"Argh...!"

Cindy managed to twist her body at the last second.

However, it did not change the fact that he got her.

Her right side was shattered into pieces like it was ice.

Cracks started to spread there, widening even up to the stomach. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Her voice was strained. Even if she wanted to, she could not scream.

"This is what happens if your body is like ice." he stated coldly as Cindy fell to the ground.

She was barely conscious, trying to calm down her ragged breathing.

The shattered pieces were still there but they soon turned softer and blood started to flow from them.

"Bluergh!"

Huge amount of blood came out of her mouth and from her stomach blood also started to leak out.

"Now everything is like always. Be grateful. I changed your body back to its usual s-"

But before he could end his phrase, he received a knee to his face, sending him flying.

"..."

It was Ophelia, who launched that attack.

"O-Ophelia..."

Cindy’s voice was weak and her consciousness was about to fade.

But everything Ophelia did was to throw some healing potions at her.

"..."

Cindy stared at Ophelia.

The air around her was different.

It felt like that of a demon.

"Interesting."

Cwon emerged from the rubble.

He cracked his neck as he walked towards Ophelia and Cindy.

"Interesting. Very interesting." he repeated, sounding joyful.

For the first time during their match, the two women were capable to create cracks in his mask.

But Cwon suddenly dashed forward.

Ophelia did the same.

Then, with a loud bang sound. Their fists clashed against each other.

The two pulled back.

"That strength..."

He began to laugh creepily.

"Now everything makes sense! That strength! That hair! Those eyes!"

"..."

Ophelia did not utter a word.

Her expression was blank.

It was as if she was not herself.

"You’re a Rostanta, ri-"

She appeared in front of him in a split second.

Her speed increased so much that even Cwon was taken aback.

Ophelia smashed her fist into his face.

"Ophelia..."

At that moment, Cindy thought that there was now a possibility that they could maybe win against Cwon.

But that thought got shattered.

Cwon, who was slammed into the ground, quickly got up and held Ophelia by her neck.

"Unfortunately, even your bloodline can’t help you."
