Chapter 119: Sword Prodigy
The fight against the monsters was still ongoing.
With Yarjak at the scene, the groups of students could coordinate with each other better than before, stopping the rapidly falling numbers for now.
Still, neither the students nor the monsters could push the other side back.
And aside from the students, the teachers were doing their best to keep the demons at bay.
"..."
Meanwhile, Sara was on the roof of a building, calmly watching the battlefield.
She took a deep breath.
"Luckily, Mom gave me permission to borrow that." she talked to herself in a relaxed tone.
Sara proceeded to unveil the thing that Yarjak brought with him.
As the cloth around it fell to her feet, a claymore sword was revealed.
At first glance, it seemed like a normal sword as its shape was ordinary with its long blade, cross-shaped hilt and its quillons, which were slightly bent forward.
However, the entire sword including its blade was raven-black.
"?"
Toyo glanced over to Sara.
"Hey, Tupis. Looks like that girl is even more interesting than we thought."
Tupis looked over, too, and squinted his eyes.
"It’s a relic. That’s for sure. But somehow something feels off..." he responded, unable to find the reason for his confusion.
Then, a vertical wind slash came at him.
"..."
Tupis dodged it without changing his pondering expression.
"Either way, we can find that out later. Let’s take care of them first." Toyo stated, looking at the stern teachers.
"Fine~" Tupis said reluctantly.
Sara took a few steps forward and jumped off the building.
"..."
Her usual carefree demeanor was nowhere found anymore and her round innocent eyes sharpened.
The sword in her hand began to emit faint dark smoke from the blade.
"Time for the main event." Yarjak muttered with a confident smirk.
The students around Sara noticed the change in the air around her as well as her sword.
Even though they should have been concentrated on the enemy before them, they could not look away from her.
They felt nervous and tensed up.
And as Sara began to move forward, the students in front of her instinctively made way for her.
Besides the students, the monsters also halted their movements for a short moment and focused their attention on her.
Some monsters, which were a little bit further away, slowly approached her.
It was their instinct.
An instinct that was telling them that there was someone strong and dangerous.
Thus, even more and more monsters gathered.
"Everyone, fall back for now!" Yarjak ordered with a stern gaze as he also retreated from the front lines.
Confused, they obeyed him.
"W-what’s the strategy?"
"Will she go in alone?!"
"And what’s the deal with that sword?"
Sara was now standing alone at the front.
"Heh."
Yarjak crossed his arms, huffing at the comments from the students.
"I recommend you all to focus all your attention on my sister."
Everyone looked at her.
"What you will witness now is the peak of swordsmanship. Let me introduce to you the sword prodigy, Sara Tiam!" Yarjak stated energetically.
The students were impressed by the expectations Yarjak set.
"..."
Sara did not let herself be distracted by all the noises around her.
The first monsters made the first steps.
But right after them, a few low-ranking monsters charged in wildly.
They were dog-like monsters, whose mouths were foaming. In addition, those monsters were taller than a normal dog, reaching almost the chest of an average man.
Four of them were baring their fangs at Sara, who did not move from her spot yet.
"..."
But before they could even realize it, their heads were already flying in the air.
The headless bodies passed right by her and fell to the ground, tainting it red.
"H-huh...?"
Most of the students had to blink more than once.
It was just a single swift sword cut but it happened so fast that most people were not able to take notice of it.
"That’s my sister." freewebnovёl.ƈom
Yarjak nodded his head proudly.
In the meantime, more monsters charged at her.
This time, there were also a few middle-ranked monsters, like mutated bears or deers, which were standing on two feet and had shockingly trained upper bodies.
However, Sara was nonetheless unfazed by the number of monsters.
She gripped her sword tightly and leaped to them.
Normally, a person would have been deemed suicidal if they had charged into a group of monsters alone.
But that was not the case if said person was someone as strong as Sara.
"..."
With a blank expression, she got in the midst of the monsters and began to cut one after another down with just one slash.
None of her movements seemed unnecessary nor did it look like she was breaking a sweat.
There was also no fear, exhaustion or struggle noticeable on her face.
Swinging a sword was like breathing to her.
No, it was not just simple slashing.
It was as if she was dancing with her sword.
And the students were the audience to such a remarkable dance as one after another monster colored the ground beneath them in their blood.
A monster from the type deer, whose height exceeded even that of a bear, was growling at her with hostility.
It was barely standing after it received a deep cut across its upper body.
"..."
Sara turned her face to it just for a second and ignored it then.
She walked away even though the monster was about to get to her.
However, at that moment, it stopped growling.
It let out a sound of surprise, noticing something on his wound.
"What now?"
"Hm? Look at its wound!"
"It’s getting worse...?"
The students guessed correctly.
The wound, the monster received from Sara, began to widen and deepen itself.
In the beginning, it worsened at a small pace but it gradually got worse in a shorter amount of time.
From its body, more blood dripped on the ground until the deer fell to its knees.
It let out a painful wail before it finally collapsed and died.
"This is the ability of the relic Death Sword. If someone got inflicted with a wound by that sword, then the wound will gradually worsen itself until one dies." Yarjak explained proudly.
Suddenly, an even greater number of monsters ambushed her from each side.
But again, Sara killed every last one of them without much struggle.
It was at that moment that the students turned optimistic.
They began to cheer for her because they saw her as their hope.
"?"
Sara lifted her head when she saw something letting its shadow fall on her.
Standing in front of her was a monster as tall as a three-story building.
A black bull, standing on its two thin hind legs.
Its upper body was broad and well-toned with muscles. It had bulky and muscular arms with big human-like hands, which was unusual for a bull. The small eyes glowed red and its left horn was torn off.
The bull roared intimidatingly before it rushed to Sara.
Unlike previously, she had to dodge its fist.
"!"
But she could not evade its second fist as she was in the air.
Receiving its punch, she crashed into a nearby house.
The others expressed their worries but Yarjak just kept watching with an indifferent gaze.
The bull slowly walked to the spot, where Sara was.
It was dusty there but everyone saw a silhouette.
"Ptu."
Sara spat some blood on the ground and wiped her mouth while she was glaring at the bull.
"..."
Yarjak formed a faint smirk when he noticed blood on Death Sword’s blade.
"?"
The bull let out a confusing sound as it looked at its left hand, which he landed a punch with.
There was a shallow cut, however, it began to spread.
Using its state of confusion, Sara quickly left a cut under its right knee, followed by a vertical cut on its back.
Roaring, the monster turned around and raised its left fist.
"!"
But at that moment, its left hand fell to the ground.
Its roar was louder but also more agonizing.
It was about to take a step forward but again, something came off.
This time, its right leg.
Clumsily, it fell to the front.
Sara was right in front of him.
And yet, she did not move.
"..."
It was glaring and growling at her as it tried to get up.
"It’s over." Sara said coldly.
Blood started to spurt out from his back.
Its hand was trying to reach her but before it could even touch her hair, it fell.
"Hmm~ She took it down pretty easily, huh?" Tupis remarked with an unfazed expression.
"Maybe it’s worth a shot to try to tame her." Toyo said with a devilish grin.
Monsters still flooded the east gate.
Among those monsters were also high-ranking monsters.
And some of them were even stronger and more dangerous than the bull.
The hope, that the students saw in Sara, started to get faint again.
Sara turned her head around to her brother.
"Got it."
Yarjak understood her intentions even though no words were heard.
He raised his hand, indicating everyone to fight back again.
But will they succeed against the still-rising number of enemies?
