Chapter 117: Countermeasure

"H-help me!"

"Uwaahh!"

"I-I don’t want to die yet!"

"Isn’t there anybody?!"

"N-noo!"

The nation of Loogam was painted with terror and fear.

The once livid streets, which were filled with the peaceful smiles of its citizens and guests, were now vast with only destruction left behind.

"Hahaha!"

"It feels great to be in the open again!"

It took only a few minutes to make the people drown in despair.

"Aaahhh!"

Demons spread around the nation and caused havoc.

"..."

Ophelia gritted her teeth in frustration as she could only hear people’s death screams and see attacks similar to those of the demon Barnt destroying buildings.

However, she did not rush to those scenes yet.

She stood on the roof of a building in the capital, trying to get a grip on the current situation.

Lereon and Ophelia were ordered by Olivia to take care of the demons with others in the vicinity.

Contrary to her, Lereon quickly made his mind up and headed in a certain direction.

But Ophelia could not make a decision.

She heard screams from every direction as well as the presence of a demon.

No matter where she went to, there would be a demon.

But where should she go first?

She took a deep breath.

"Calm down..." she muttered to herself.

The screams and the sounds of crumbling buildings did not stop but Ophelia still remained on her spot.

She was focusing.

"Found you..."

Then, she took the first steps.

She felt the presence of four enemies, who were at least on the same level as Yater.

Thus, they were most likely A-rank demons.

Two were on the academy grounds, whereas the other two were in Ophelia’s vicinity.

And knowing Lereon, he must have gone to one of those two A-ranks, meaning that one was still left behind.

Lightning covered her body as she picked up her pace.

"..."

Ophelia was obviously nervous when she thought about facing an A-rank demon.

However, she was confident in her skills that she could at least stall that demon.

During the time she was away from the academy, she went through hellish training.

Now, it was time to show off her new strength.

Meanwhile, the other first-year teachers escorted the people out of the arena.

The people were in panic and still pushed themselves forward.

Even the teachers could not calm them down.

They were now outside, heading to the academy grounds’ south entrance.

"Everyone!"

Hearing a familiar voice, the teachers slowed down their pace, whereas the people kept running.

"!"

Heading to them was a group of other teachers and staff members led by the headmaster, Lucio Graymen.

Lucio joined Erwin, Ralph and Cindy.

"Mr. Graymen!"

He looked at the panicked people.

"I will take over here."

"Hm?"

"I will lead them to the dorms and protect them." he stated sternly.

"Should we join you?" Ralph asked.

"No, I alone will suffice."

"But-"

"Mr. Linster, could you head to the west gate? And Ms. Werensten, may you be so kind and head to the south gate?"

"Mr. Arma, I want you to lead the other teachers and staff people. Split up in two groups and rush to the north and east gate." Lucio added.

"Y-yes!" the teachers responded a bit nervously.

They immediately headed to their respective places.

Ralph went to the others, who followed Lucio, and took command over them.

"Now then... The main gates are covered now but will that be enough...?" Lucio pondered with a fierce glance.

"Let us help you!"

"?"

Lucio lifted his head and looked in the direction where the voice came from.

"S-Sara!"

"My brother and I will offer support at the east gate!"

"Please give me the permission to take some troops. I will take care of Loogam’s southeast side."

Lucio widened his eyes a little, seeing the VIP guests, the Tiam siblings and Norman Milar offering their support.

"I... I can’t possibly put you in danger-"

"Excuse me for being rude but I don’t think it’s the appropriate time to prioritize our safety over our skills. There’s a reason why we’re in a leading position in our respective nations." Norman interrupted Lucio sternly.

"..."

Lucio sighed.

"Fine. I will trust you then."

"W-we want to help, too!"

Now, the students approached Lucio.

"W-we may be lacking experience b-but we want to help, too!" another student, who had a badge on their chest, repeated.

Lucio was surprised by his students’ enthusiasm.

Normally, he would rejected them, however, just like Norman said, this was not the time to prioritize their safety if they had the skill to help.

He clenched his fists.

"I understand."

"Then, please gather those who want to fight. The first-years will go to the east gate. The second-years will patrol the southwest and northwest part of Loogam." Lucio elaborated.

"Yes!"

Thus, almost every part of Loogam was covered for now.

He sensed Ophelia’s and Lereon’s magic at the south and west gate.

His gaze shifted to the northeast.

"Is it time to free that person...?" he muttered with a drop of sweat rolling down his face.

In the meantime, Mika and the other students managed to get out.

"!"

However, the two demons, Zera and Clara, were approaching them from the air quickly.

Mika looked to the south.

"Everyone! Head to the south!" he shouted.

He spotted a large crowd of people and the headmaster.

With Lucio there, Mika concluded that everyone should be safe.

"..."

Mika turned his face to the demons with his hand on his sword’s hilt, whereas most of the students rushed to the headmaster.

"What about you, Mika? Don’t tell me you want to fight both of them!" Sylvia said with a panicked expression.

Despite all her training, she recognized the two incoming demons as foes she could not beat alone.

"I will just stall some time." Mika responded with a nervous smirk.

But at that moment, Belian stepped to his side.

He was glaring at the demons.

"Those should be doable..." he whispered to himself.

"Belian?"

"I will fight with you, Mika."

Then, Harik and Rachel turned to them, too.

"Let us help you out."

"I won’t let them harm you, Mika."

Sylvia scratched her head wildly.

"Jeez!" she groaned annoyedly before she went to their side.

"Are you for real...?" Mika said baffled.

"T-they are demons! Do you know how dangerous they are?" he raised his voice concernedly.

"You’re one to talk."

It was Lisa, who called him out.

"As if you can take them on alone." she remarked with a sigh.

"..."

"So I will lend you my powers. I’m the vice captain of the disciplinary committee after all!" she stated with a sharp look.

Zera and Clara almost arrived.

"Let’s split up." Mika said.

"?"

"Belian, Sylvia and Lisa, you will form a group. Harik and Rachel, you will come with me." he added.

And without further explanation, Mika ran in another direction.

"W-wait!"

Harik and Rachel followed suit.

"..."

Zera and Clara watched them split in two.

"I will go after them." Clara stated, looking at Mika’s group.

Then, she parted ways with Zera, who went for Belian’s group.

Every matchup was therefore set.

And while everyone was preparing for their fights, Dayn arrived at a certain place.

"I heard a lot about you. You’re the one, who invented magic tools, right?" Dayn asked.

On Zaran’s order, he left the arena behind.

And after going through his own information, he remembered the existence of a certain individual.

Said individual was currently locked up at the same place as the disciplinary committee’s headquarters.

The tower.

"Who are you?"

The raspy voice belonged to a man.

His black hair was disheveled and reached to his waist. Under his dark green eyes were dark eye bags. The lips were dry and he had a stubble beard.

The man wore black pants paired with brown shoes and his white shirt was unbuttoned, revealing his well-toned body.

"I am the one who will free you, Hecto Togin." Dayn replied with a smirk.

"You want to free me?"

"Yes. And if you come with us quietly, then I will promise you that we will treat you better than those humans."

"Then, bring me my weapons first." Hecto replied with a tired smirk.

"..."

Dayn’s grin vanished.

"Didn’t you hear me? If you want me to come along with you then bring me my weapons."

"Hey."

Dayn’s voice sounded threatening.

"I was told that you were an important individual but don’t think that you can act like this towards me."

"Heh, so what?"

"I can also kill you now and say that you were involved in an accident."

Hecto’s smirk also vanished from his face as he was turning stern.

"Let’s see you try."

"..."

"..."

The two stared down each other.

"?"

However, Dayn suddenly sensed another person’s presence.

"So this is where you were." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

The sound of heels echoed in the prison.

"I wondered why you went to such a place but I guess I forgot that he was here."

A woman’s voice.

"Is it just me or is it getting chilly..." Hecto stated as his body shivered for a moment.

"..."

A cold fog emitted from the stairs.

And then, Elsa appeared.
