Chapter 116: Demon King’s Right Hand

The footsteps echoed louder.

"..."

Everyone in the arena was focusing their attention on the back exit.

Demons, Mika, Belian, Olivia, Lereon, Elsa, Ophelia and other students, whose fear was greater than their panic, awaited the person’s arrival.

"!"

A person finally emerged from the back exit’s shadows.

Walking confidently to them was a mature and beautiful-looking man.

His pale face had no wrinkles. His eyes were black paired with long black eyelashes. The man’s chest-length black hair was tied and rested over his right shoulder.

His attire and demeanor were elegant.

He wore black pants paired with black boots, almost reaching his knees. He wore a white buttoned shirt and a black tie beneath his black leather suit. There was a short black robe on his right shoulder, covering his right side.

Furthermore, he wore white gloves and had a sheathed sword on his hip.

No one dared to move.

Even Olivia took caution.

"..."

The man kept on walking.

"?"

Without even glancing at them, the man passed by Belian, Mika and Olivia.

Especially, the two boys’ hearts were racing extremely fast when the man passed by them.

Their bodies were shivering a lot more and even more sweat streamed down their faces.

Mika, who had fought against Yater, knew that this man was stronger.

It was when he arrived at the arena’s center that he finally came to a halt.

He opened his mouth.

"Let us begin."

Only three words.

He did not raise his voice. He talked in a volume as if someone was standing next to him.

And yet, his sharp and intimidating words reached everyone here.

"Yes!"

The demons, who were kneeling, suddenly straightened their postures and replied loudly.

"..."

The man’s eyes wandered to every single one of the demons.

"Two B-ranks and one A-rank will stay here with me. The rest will scatter in every direction and kill the humans while keeping our liege’s words in mind." he commanded.

"Yes!"

Following his order, most of the demons flew away from the academy and headed to the capital.

Now, only four demons stayed behind.

The three demons he just called out, rushed over to his side and got on one knee again.

"Dayn to your service."

It was a man with well-toned muscles.

Due to the fact that his shirt was sleeveless, his trained arms were on display for everyone to see.

He had short spiky hair which connected with his beard.

From the demons present, he emitted the second-strongest aura.

"Zera to your service."

This demon was a young woman, whose shoulder-length hair covered her right eye.

She wore a suit similar to the man commanding them.

"Clara to your service."

Another woman, who seemed as strong as Zera.

However, she strangely wore a maid uniform and her hair was tied into a bun.

"Lereon! Ophelia! Go after those demons! Form groups with others and neutralize them!" Olivia ordered vigorously.

"..."

Lereon and Ophelia nodded their heads once before they went after the demons.

"Elsa!"

"Yes." Elsa replied calmly as she jumped down.

"..."

Olivia glanced at the remaining students.

Amongst them were Sylvia, Rachel, Harik and Lisa.

"Can you fight?" she directed the question at Belian.

"Y-yes...!"

"..."

Trusting his quick thinking, she hinted at the students in the back with her eyes.

"U-understood!"

Indifferently, the man, who was the commander of the demon group, looked at Belian.

At the same time, Mika stood on his feet again.

The headache eased up.

Therefore, Mika tried to follow Belian.

"And where do you think you’re going?"

"!"

In a split second, the commander appeared right in front of Mika.

His gaze was now a lot sharper and more threatening.

Instinctively, Mika jumped back.

"I won’t allow you to run away from here."

But even though he jumped back, the man closed the distance without an effort.

"I will be the one to kill you."

"W-who are you...?" Mika asked tensed up.

"Heh..." the man chuckled silently.

"Do you know a man named Zantar?"

Mika’s eyes widened.

"Seems like you do."

His hand was approaching Mika.

But Mika could not react as he was frozen.

"He’s my brother. My foolish older brother." the man elaborated with a grin.

He grabbed him by the neck and held Mika in the air.

"But don’t misunderstand me. I’m not here to do something as pitiful as taking revenge."

"Hngh...!"

[For brothers, they don’t look like it.]

His grip tightened.

"This voice..."

His eyes narrowed.

"Mika!"

Olivia and Elsa were about to rush to his spot but were stopped by the other three demons.

"Gueh...!"

Unexpectedly, the man threw Mika right to Olivia and Elsa’s feet.

"My name is Zaran. And as my liege’s right-hand, it is my duty to personally deliver your head and Excalibur to my liege." he stated, looking down on Mika.

He walked over to Mika again, passing by his comrades.

"But that’s nothing but a personal goal of mine."

He glanced to the side.

Belian already united with the other students and tried to escape.

"Zera. Clara. Go after them. Some of them may have potential." Zaran ordered, sounding a little excited.

"Yes."

"Tch! Elsa, can you follow them?"

Olivia was worried about the students.

"Ye-"

"Not while I’m here."

Dayn cut her way off, smiling playfully at her.

"You dare to get in my way?" Elsa responded irritatedly with a frown.

Olivia shifted her gaze to the students and Zaran, who was occupying Mika.

Then, she closed her eyes, clenched her teeth and dashed to Zaran.

"Hm?"

Lightning sparks engulfed her right arm.

She went for a straight punch.

"What power..." Zaran commented indifferently as he blocked the attack by putting his arms up.

"Mika, now!" she shouted.

Mika got up and ran away as fast as he could.

"..."

Zaran stared at him.

"You’re not even trying to after him?"

"The result won’t change even if I did."

"However, it may be quite the hassle to face both of you at the same time." he added.

"Should I feel honored to get complimented by you?" Olivia remarked sarcastically.

"Interpret it the way you like."

Then, he drew his sword.

It was a long sword with a silver-shining blade. The blade was slightly curved on one side and also possessed just one sharp side.

Olivia’s gaze sharpened.

She was trying to figure out what the power of the sword was.

"Don’t bother." he interrupted her thought.

"I’m feeling generous today so let me tell you that this is just a plain sword." he explained.

"..."

If it was not the sword, then his ability lied somewhere else.

"If I’m correct, then you’re Olivia Rostanta, queen of Rostanta and captain of the Grand Order, right?"

"Are you perhaps a fan of me?" she joked despite feeling the tense atmosphere.

"Heh, who knows?" Zaran huffed with a smirk.

He pointed his sword at her.

"This will be an interesting match." he said.

Olivia engulfed herself in more lightning.

And in an instant, she vanished from the spot, only to appear right in front of him.

Or so she thought.

"Another straightforward approach."

Zaran was standing beside her, raising his sword.

But before he could strike her, she dodged.

And again, Zaran was by her side.

"!"

She had to duck in order to avoid his horizontal slash.

However, she immediately had to block an incoming kick.

"Tch...!" she clicked her tongue.

She felt like he was predicting every single move of her.

However, her annoyance made her smirk.

Then, more and more lightning gathered around her.

"Dayn. Get out of here."

"..."

Dayn, who was keeping an eye on Elsa, looked over to Zaran and Olivia.

"Understood."

Obediently, he spread his wings and flew away from the academy.

"Hey, wait!" Elsa shouted annoyedly.

But she, too, took a quick glance at Olivia, who started to lose herself in excitement.

"You freak..." she remarked with a sigh.

Thus, she headed in the direction of Dayn.

Now, Olivia and Zaran had the arena just for them.

They could go all out without worrying about their surroundings.

"You’re an A-rank, am I correct?" Olivia asked with a smirk and wide-open eyes.

"Yes, I’m an A-rank indeed."

"Oh, then-"

"I went through the information and it seems like you fought a demon called Yater before."

"So what?"

"What I’m trying to say is..."

At that moment, he disappeared from her sight.

"Please don’t compare me to the others you have faced before."

He was behind her and swung his sword diagonally from above.

Olivia barely managed to evade a fatal injury but she still received a cut on her cheek.

"I’m the right hand of my liege. So comparing me with those fools would be not only a disgrace to me but also to my liege."

"I may share the same rank with them but I will let you into a small secret among us demons."

He put his index finger on his lips.

"I am an A-rank demon."

Olivia looked at him crookedly.

"But I’m also the current number two among the A-ranks."
