Chapter 150: The Surprising Nurse Elise III

Elise probably never expected her attempts to fail. She struggled, trying to twist herself free from his hold, to no avail. Damon shook her ruthlessly as though she was nothing more than a chew toy, and she hung from his teeth weakly, trying to curl her upper body so that she could stab his eyes in a last-ditch attempt to escape.

Unfortunately for her, Damon had no intention of letting her get her way. He growled and shook her roughly, causing her to loosen her grip on the dagger. One more shake and the dagger fell helplessly from her grasp, despite her desperately trying to catch it again.

"No... no you bastard! You can’t do this to me! You’re making an enemy out of every hunter!" Elise shrieked, panic clouding her voice. "Anyone! Anyone, help me!"

I couldn’t help but snort at her words.

"Stupid, he already is," I muttered to myself. Technically, every hunter already wanted Damon dead, since he was the alpha of a notoriously strong pack. He didn’t need to bite off Elise’s foot to garner hatred.

Sensing that Damon had things well in hand, I quickly opened the door to pocket the knife, just in case anyone had any ideas about taking down Damon while his back was turned.

Elise caught sight of me and begged for help, "You can’t let him kill me like this! You’re a human, just like your mother! You should be on my side!"

I could sense Damon rolling his eyes. He shook her again, causing her to scream in fear.

"Damon, end her," I said, and I took great satisfaction in watching her face pale as she realized her end was near. Damon huffed in amusement, and then he flung her into the air, digging his fangs into her abdomen in one clean catch, before slamming her head onto the pavement.

He then met my eyes and nodded minutely. Once we ascertained that Elise was indeed unconscious for good, Damon quickly transformed back. I hastily averted my eyes; and gestured to him to enter the driver’s seat.

Since he had not taken his clothes off when he turned, he was standing in the nude with no hope of coverage. I didn’t even have a handkerchief for him to use to cover his crotch! But then again, it wasn’t as though a handkerchief would be big enough to conceal Damon’s manhood. If Damon wasn’t arrested for turning into a wolf and mauling someone in broad daylight, he would be booked for public indecency.

Damon, meanwhile, was particularly unbothered by his nudity. He simply picked up Elise’s limp, unmoving body and dumped her in the car boot before entering the car. He even pulled a face when some of her blood touched his skin, and I handed him some tissues to clean himself up.

"Urgh. The blood of a hunter," Damon scowled as he wiped himself clean as much as he was able. "I’ll need a bath to scrub myself clean afterward. But I spared her life, just like you asked," Damon said as he started the drive.

"Thanks," I said gratefully. "I know you wanted her dead, but she’s a lot more valuable alive." After all, she was a hunter, and she most likely had information about their plans and their ties with the vampires. Such information was what we needed if we didn’t wish to be taken by surprise again.

Not to mention, she knew things about my mother. Maybe I could get her to tell me more.

Damon snorted with blatant disbelief. "That remains to be seen."

He advised, giving me a quick glance from the corner of his eyes, "I still think she’d be more useful as plant fertilizer. I bet she’d give us wrong information on purpose just to make things worse. Take everything she says about your mother with an ocean’s worth of salt."

Of course Damon would understand the underlying reason why I wanted to leave Elise alive. Shame burned my ears as I nodded meekly.

I kept my eyes on his side profile, refusing to let them wander any lower. This situation was straight-up ridiculous, bordering on insanity. I could not have imagined anything like this in my wildest dreams; Damon was driving a car entirely in the nude while we had a hunter stuffed in the back, bleeding out.

"Why didn’t you use your ice powers to handle her?" I asked curiously, that question burning in my mind. After all, we were in a town full of humans. Transforming into a werewolf in such a public location was tantamount to painting a target on his back.

"And let the hunters know what I’m capable of in my human form?" Damon smirked nastily. "Why would I give them the gift of such priceless knowledge? Better that they believe that my wolf is my only strength."

"But then everyone will know about werewolves," I said hesitantly. "How will you deal with the humans and vampires after?"

If they allied together and began a witch hunt, things would get difficult fast.

"Anyone that stands against me will perish," Damon said simply. "Human, vampire, werewolf― they will all be bones in the ground after I’m through with them."

"I see..." I hoped Damon’s confidence paid off because I couldn’t help thinking of how the townspeople would react.

Meanwhile, Damon continued to grumble, more to let off his own frustration than any actual attempt to start a conversation with me, "Kaine better be done playing nurse for Blaise; I’ll need him to interrogate her immediately. He’d better use whatever tricks he has up his sleeve to break her, after all this trouble this fucking hunter gave us. I swear to god, I’ll raze them all to the ground." ƒгeewёbnovel.com

His words made me think of Blaise. Was Blaise alright? When we left him, he was in a crisis. Hopefully, Nicole had managed to stabilize his condition. I had not detected any new emotions from him, and I tried to believe that no news was good news. If he had died, I would certainly have felt it.

Blaise was fine. He had to be. I would not accept a world where he was not.

In no time at all we arrived back at Fangborne, and to my surprise, there was already a welcoming party waiting for us, all of them sporting grim looks on their faces. I spotted Elijah at the helm, waiting for our car to turn in.

My heart raced. Was this fanfare necessary because they came bearing bad news?
