Chapter 61: Chapter 60: FALSE START
FRIDAY MORNING - SEVEN DAYS AFTER TRANSFORMATION 9:00 AM
Dr. Thorne arrived very early the third day, her medical bag in hand and her expression all business.
"Let’s see how you’ve healed," she said, gesturing for Eve to sit on the bed.
Eve had fed that morning....gentle, careful sex with all three brothers that left her glowing softly but not overwhelmed. Her bracelet showed green, her energy levels stable. And most importantly, the bite marks from Rex’s claiming had fully healed.
Well....healed wasn’t quite the right word. They’d closed, the wounds sealed and no longer bleeding. But the scars remained. Thirty-seven permanent marks decorating her skin, each one a silvery reminder of Rex’s brutal claiming.
Dr. Thorne examined each scar carefully, pressing gently to test for tenderness, checking Eve’s range of motion to ensure none of the deeper bites had caused muscle damage.
"Remarkable," she murmured after several minutes. "Complete tissue regeneration in just over forty-eight hours. The scars are permanent, yes, but there’s no residual damage. No inflammation, no restricted movement, no signs of infection. You’re completely healed."
"So she’s ready," Damian said from where he stood with his brothers. It wasn’t a question.
"Physically, yes," Dr. Thorne confirmed. "Her body can handle another claiming. Whether she’s ready emotionally or psychologically....that’s a different question."
"I’m ready," Eve said, trying to sound more confident than she felt. "Let’s just....let’s get this over with. The waiting is worse than the actual claiming."
"Are you sure about that?" Silas asked quietly. "Because Cain...." He stopped, struggling with words. "Cain is going to be different from Kane and Rex. More intense. More demanding. You might wish we’d waited longer."
"Or I might wish we’d done it sooner," Eve countered. "Either way, it needs to happen. So let’s prepare."
The next hour was spent setting up the bedroom exactly as they had for Rex’s claiming. Dr. Thorne’s medical equipment set up just outside the door where she could listen for signs of distress.
"Remember," Dr. Thorne said as she did final checks, "I’m right outside. Any sound that indicates you’re in real danger....not just overwhelmed, but actual danger....and I’m coming in with sedatives. Understood?"
"Understood," Eve confirmed.
Damian and Damon prepared to leave for the pack house, both looking reluctant to go.
"We’ll feel everything through the bond," Damian reminded Eve. "Every moment. If it’s too much, if you need us...."
"Don’t come back," Eve said firmly. "No matter what you feel. If you come back, your wolves might surface. Then we’re back where we started....three feral wolves and me. I won’t survive that."
"She’s right," Silas said, though his voice was tight. "You have to stay away. No matter what. Promise me."
"Alright no problem," Damon said reluctantly. "But Silas....keep her safe. Or Cain won’t be the only wolf we have to worry about."
They left, and suddenly it was just Eve and Silas in the modified bedroom.
"How do you want to do this?" Eve asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
"I don’t know," Silas admitted. "With Kane and Rex, they just....took over. Surfaced spontaneously during sex. But Cain...." He paused, his dark eyes troubled. "Cain has been waiting. Patient. Holding back. I don’t know if he’ll surface the moment we start, or if he’ll wait until some specific trigger."
"Then we just....start," Eve said. "Like normal. And see what happens."
Silas nodded, moving to the bed. Eve joined him, her heart racing with anxiety and anticipation.
This was it. The final claiming. After this, the bond would be complete. All three wolves would have claimed her. They’d never have to do anything like this again.
She just had to survive it first.
Silas kissed her....gentle and deep, his hands cradling her face with tenderness that made her chest ache. This was so different from the feral claiming she’d endured with Rex, so different from even Kane’s possessive fucking.
This was Silas. Her mate. The man she loved.
Not the wolf. Not yet.
"I love you," Silas murmured against her lips.
"I love you too," Eve whispered back.
Silas laid her back on the bed, his hands slowly removing her robe, exposing her scarred skin to the soft morning light. He traced each mark with gentle fingers.....the thirty-seven scars from Rex, the single perfect bite from Kane on her shoulder.
"You’re so beautiful," he said quietly. "Every scar, every mark....they’re all proof of how strong you are. How much you’ve survived."
Eve pulled him down for another kiss, trying to lose herself in the sensation, trying not to think about what was coming.
Silas entered her slowly, carefully, watching her face for any sign of discomfort. But there was none. Just pleasure, warmth, connection.
They moved together in perfect synchronization....gentle, loving, intimate. Eve’s skin began to glow softly as energy flowed through their bond, feeding her succubus nature.
But Silas’s eyes remained their normal dark color. No gold. No wolf.
Cain wasn’t surfacing.
They continued for several minutes, the pleasure building gradually. Eve came once, then twice, her golden glow pulsing with each orgasm. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
But still....no Cain.
"I don’t understand," Silas said, pausing his movements. "He should have surfaced by now. Kane surfaced almost immediately. Rex took over within minutes. But Cain...."
He closed his eyes, and Eve could see him searching internally, trying to find his wolf.
"He’s there," Silas said, confusion in his voice. "I can feel him. He’s fully present, fully aware. But he’s not taking over. He’s just....waiting."
"Waiting for what?" Eve asked.
"I don’t know," Silas admitted. He pulled out carefully, sitting back on his heels. "This doesn’t make sense. Cain has been the most restless, the most impatient. He should be desperate to claim you. But instead he’s....he’s holding back."
A knock on the door made them both jump.
"Everything alright in there?" Dr. Thorne’s voice called. "I heard talking instead of....well, instead of what I expected to hear."
"We’re fine," Silas called back. "But Cain isn’t surfacing. He’s not claiming her."
The door opened slightly, Dr. Thorne peeking in but her eyes faced down. "What do you mean he’s not surfacing?"
"I mean he’s there, he’s aware, but he’s not taking control," Silas explained, frustration clear in his voice. "It’s like he’s....choosing not to. Like he’s deliberately holding back."
Dr. Thorne frowned. "That’s....unprecedented. Alpha wolves don’t have that kind of control during claiming. The instinct should override everything else."
"Unless the instinct is telling him to wait," Eve said quietly, a realization dawning. "Alpha Silas....can you hear him? Can you communicate with Cain?"
Silas closed his eyes again, going still as he focused inward. When he opened them, his expression was stunned.
"He says...." Silas’s voice was filled with disbelief. "He says our mate isn’t ready. That she’s healed physically but not strong enough yet. That he’ll wait until she is."
"Wait?" Dr. Thorne repeated. "For how long?"
"He didn’t say," Silas said. "Just...not yet. Not today."
The room fell into shocked silence.
"I’ve never heard of a wolf doing this," Dr. Thorne said finally. "Especially not during the claiming period. They’re usually desperate, feral, completely driven by instinct. But Cain is...he’s showing remarkable control. Remarkable restraint."
"He’s the most dominant," Silas said slowly, working through it. "The most feral of the three wolves. Maybe that dominance gives him more control? More ability to override the claiming instinct?"
"Or maybe," Eve said quietly, "he’s not overriding the instinct. Maybe the instinct is telling him to wait. To protect me by not claiming me until I’m truly ready."
They all looked at her.
"What do you mean?" Silas asked.
"Kane was possessive....he needed to claim me through relentless sex," Eve explained. "Rex was marking....he needed to scar me permanently. But Cain.....you said his claiming would be about dominance. Control. Complete submission."
"Yes," Silas confirmed.
"Then maybe he knows that right now, fresh off Rex’s claiming, still healing....I’m not strong enough to submit like that," Eve continued. "Maybe he’s waiting until I’m powerful enough that his dominance actually means something. That my submission is a choice, not just survival."
Silas stared at her. "That’s....that’s actually possible. Cain has always been about worthy opponents. About proving his dominance over equals, not just dominating the weak. If he thinks you’re not strong enough yet...."
"Then he’ll wait until you are," Dr. Thorne finished. "Which means we have no idea when the final claiming will actually happen."
"Could be days," Silas said. "Could be weeks. Cain will decide when the time is right."
Eve didn’t know whether to feel relieved or anxious. Relief that she didn’t have to endure another brutal claiming today. Anxiety because now she had no idea when it was coming, no way to prepare.
"So what do we do?" she asked.
"We wait," Silas said. "We let you heal fully, let you grow stronger, let your powers develop. And when Cain decides you’re ready....when he decides the time is right....then he’ll claim you."
"In the meantime," Dr. Thorne said, already packing up her equipment, "you focus on recovery and training. Build your strength, your power, your control. If Cain wants you strong before he claims you, then we make sure you’re strong."
She left, and Eve and Silas were alone again.
"I should call Damian and Damon," Silas said. "Let them know Cain didn’t surface.
He made the call while Eve pulled her robe back on, still processing what had just happened.
The final claiming had been delayed. Indefinitely. By the wolf himself.
It should have been a relief. Instead, it just felt like....waiting. Endless, anxious waiting for a claiming that could happen at any moment or not for weeks.
"They’re coming back," Silas said, ending the call. "They want to discuss this. Figure out what it means."
Within thirty minutes, all three brothers were back in the bedroom, discussing Cain’s unexpected restraint.
"He said she’s not strong enough?" Damian repeated, trying to understand. "But Dr. Thorne cleared her. She’s healed."
"Physically healed," Silas clarified. "But Cain doesn’t just want her physically ready. He wants her...." He struggled for words. "Powerful. Confident. Strong enough that when he dominates her, it actually matters. When she submits, it’s a real submission, not just survival."
"So we have time," Damon said slowly. "Time to let her recover fully. Time to let her adjust to her new nature. Time before the final claiming."
"Yes," Silas confirmed. "However long Cain decides she needs. Could be days. Could be longer."
"Then we use the time wisely," Damian decided. "We help her master her powers. Build her confidence. Strengthen her body and mind. So when Cain does finally claim her....she’s ready. Truly ready for his madness."
"And in the meantime?" Eve asked.
"In the meantime," Damon said with a slight smile, "we keep feeding you. Keep building this bond. Because whether Cain claims you today or a month from now....i still need to feel your pussy clench my dick everyday.."
Eve felt something settle in her chest. Relief, maybe. Or just acceptance.
The final claiming would come when it came. Until then, she’d use the time to grow stronger.
To become the mate Cain wanted. The mate worthy of his dominance.
The mate who could survive his claiming and come out the other side even more powerful.
She just hoped she had enough time to become that strong.
Because when Cain finally decided she was ready....
There would be no more delays.
No more restraint.
Just complete, absolute domination.
And she needed to be strong enough to survive it.
