Chapter 60: Chapter 59: RECOVERY AND SHADOWS
THURSDAY MORNING - SIX DAYS AFTER TRANSFORMATION 7:00 AM
Eve woke to gentle kisses being pressed along her jaw....carefully avoiding the bite marks that still decorated her neck and shoulders.
"Morning," Silas murmured against her skin. "How do you feel?"
Eve took inventory. The bite marks were healing....faster than human injuries would, but slower than her other wounds had healed. Rex had marked her so deeply that her supernatural healing factor was struggling to repair the damage.
"Sore," she admitted. "But better than yesterday. The pain is more manageable now."
"Your bracelet turned yellow an hour ago," Silas said, pulling back to show her the gem glowing soft yellow. "You need to feed. But we wanted to let you sleep as long as possible."
"We’ll be gentle," Damian promised from her other side. "Nothing like....." He gestured vaguely, unable to finish the sentence.
"Nothing like Rex’s claiming," Eve finished for him. "I know. And I appreciate it. But Silas...." She looked at him seriously. "Your wolf. Cain. When does he...."
"Tomorrow," Silas said quietly. "Dr. Thorne examined you last night while you were sleeping. She says you need at least forty-eight hours to heal before another claiming. So tomorrow afternoon, we’ll do it again. Same setup....Damian and Damon at the pack house, Dr. Thorne outside the door, safety protocols in place."
"And Cain is...." Eve hesitated, not sure she wanted to know.
"The most dominant," Silas confirmed, his dark eyes troubled. "The most possessive. The most....intense. Kane was possessive fucking. Rex was marking and blood. Cain will be...." He struggled for words. "Control. Domination. Psychological claiming as much as physical. He won’t just want your body. He’ll want your complete submission. Your absolute surrender."
Eve shivered despite the warmth of the bed. "That sounds...."
"Terrifying," Silas finished. "I know. I’m terrified too. Because once Cain surfaces, I won’t have much control. I’ll just be watching as my wolf dominates you in every way possible."
"But I’ll survive," Eve said, trying to sound confident. "I survived Kane. I survived Rex. I’ll survive Cain."
"You will," Damian said firmly. "Because you’re the strongest person i know. And because your body is literally designed to handle our most feral side."
"Now," Damon said, moving to position himself between her legs. "Let’s feed you. Gently. Carefully. And then you’re spending the rest of the day resting and healing."
"I can’t spend two days in bed," Eve protested weakly.
"You can and you will," Silas said. "Doctor’s orders. Dr. Thorne was very specific....complete bed rest until Cain’s claiming. No stress, no exertion, just rest and gentle feeding to keep your energy levels stable."
Eve wanted to argue but couldn’t. Her body was exhausted, still healing from Rex’s brutal marking. She needed the rest.
"Okay," she agreed. "Gentle feeding. Then rest."
Damon positioned himself carefully, mindful of her injuries, and entered her slowly....so different from the brutal claiming she’d endured yesterday. This was tender, loving, designed to feed her without causing additional pain.
Silas kissed her while Damon moved inside her with gentle, measured thrusts. Damian’s hands stroked her hair, her unmarked skin, providing comfort and connection.
It was beautiful. Intimate. Exactly what she needed.
When Eve came, it was soft and sweet....a gentle wave of pleasure rather than the overwhelming tsunami she’d experienced with the wolves. Golden light pulsed softly around her as she fed, her energy levels rising back to healthy levels.
"Better?" Damian asked as Damon carefully withdrew.
"Much better," Eve confirmed, checking her bracelet. Green. Well-fed and safe.
"Good," Silas said. "Now rest. I’ll bring you breakfast in bed. You’re not leaving this room except to use the bathroom."

THURSDAY AFTERNOON - 2:00 PM
Eve dozed on and off throughout the morning, her body using the rest to accelerate healing. By afternoon, many of the bite marks had faded to pink scars....still visible, still permanent, but no longer open wounds.
She was examining them in the mirror when Damian came in carrying lunch.
"They’re permanent," she said quietly, tracing the deepest scar over her heart. "I’m going to have these marks forever."
"Yes," Damian confirmed, setting the tray down. "Does that bother you?"
"I don’t know," Eve admitted. "Part of me hates it....being marked like property. But another part...." She touched the scar again. "Another part feels....safe? Protected? Like anyone who sees these marks will know I’m claimed. That I belong to you."
"You do belong to us," Damian said, moving behind her to wrap his arms around her waist, careful of the healing marks. "But not as property. As our mate. Our equal. Our soul bond. The marks are....they’re proof of the bond. Of what we are to each other."
"Thirty-seven permanent scars is a lot of proof," Eve said wryly.
"Rex was thorough," Damian agreed. "But he won’t be the only one. Cain will mark you too. Maybe not with bites....his claiming style is different....but you’ll carry his claim just like you carry Rex’s."
Eve studied her reflection. The woman looking back at her was almost unrecognizable from the human she’d been a week ago. Glowing amber eyes. Gold-streaked hair. Skin that shimmered faintly even when not feeding. And now....permanent scars that marked her as bonded to three alpha wolves.
"I look different," she said.
"You look powerful," Damian corrected. "You look like exactly what you are....a succubus queen bonded to three alphas. Strong. Fierce and beautiful."
"And scarred," Eve added.
"Battle scars," Damian said. "Proof you survived what would kill most people. Proof you’re strong enough to be our mate."
Eve turned in his arms, looking up at him. "Do you ever regret it? Bonding with me? I’ve caused so much chaos in your lives....pack complications and feeding schedules
"Never," Damian interrupted firmly. "Not for a single second. Yes, you’ve complicated our lives. But you’ve also completed us. Made us better. Given us purpose beyond just ruling the pack. We love you, Eve. All the complications that come with you are worth it."
Eve kissed him...slow and deep and full of love. When she pulled back, she felt more settled. More accepting of the changes, the scars, the new reality of her life.
"Come eat," Damian said, leading her back to bed. "You need regular food too, not just sexual energy."
Eve ate while Damian worked on pack business from the laptop beside the bed.
She was finishing her meal when that familiar prickling sensation returned.
Someone was watching.
Eve set down her fork and moved to the window, looking out at the estate grounds. It was a beautiful day....sun shining, birds singing, everything peaceful.
But she could feel it. That presence. That sense of being observed.
"You feel it again," Damian said, noticing her tension. "The watcher."
"Yes," Eve confirmed. "Stronger today. Like whoever it is....they’re closer. More focused."
"I’ll have Marcus increase patrols again," Damian said, already pulling out his phone.
"It won’t help," Eve said quietly. "They didn’t find anything last time. This person....whoever they are....they’re good at hiding. At watching without being seen."
"Then what do we do?" Damian asked.
"Nothing," Eve said, though the answer frustrated her. "We can’t fight an enemy we can’t see. So we just....stay vigilant. Stay careful. And hope that whoever’s watching is a friend, not a foe."
But even as she said it, Eve wasn’t sure she believed it.
Because friends didn’t watch from the shadows.
And Eve had a growing suspicion that whoever was watching....they were connected to her past. To the Seraphim Court. To the enemies her parents had died fighting.
The question was: were they here to protect her or kill her?

THURSDAY EVENING - 6:00 PM
Evening feeding was gentle again....this time with Silas, who took her slowly and carefully, making sure every touch brought pleasure without pain.
Afterward, all four of them had dinner together in the bedroom, Eve still following doctor’s orders to rest.
"Dr. Thorne will be here tomorrow morning," Silas said during dinner. "To examine you before Cain’s claiming. Make sure you’re healed enough to survive it."
"And if I’m not?" Eve asked.
"Then we wait another day," Silas said firmly. "I won’t let Cain claim you if there’s a risk he could kill you. We’ll wait until you’re strong enough."
"The longer we wait, the more restless Cain gets," Eve pointed out. "I can feel him through the bond. He’s....impatient. Aggressive. Pushing at your control."
"I can handle him," Silas said, though his jaw was tight. "I’ve been controlling Cain my entire life. I can control him a few more days if necessary."
But Eve wasn’t so sure. She could feel Cain’s presence through the bond....dark, dominant, absolutely certain of his right to claim what was his. Silas might think he was in control, but Cain was just waiting. Biding his time.
And when he finally surfaced....when he finally got his turn to claim Eve—she suspected there would be no controlling him at all.
"I need some air," Eve said suddenly, feeling claustrophobic despite the spacious bedroom. "Just....a walk around the grounds. Five minutes."
"I’ll come with you," Damian said immediately.
They bundled her in a soft robe and walked her down to the garden....moving slowly, with Silas supporting her when the healing bite marks pulled uncomfortably.
The evening air was cool and fresh, a welcome change from the bedroom. Eve breathed deeply, trying to shake off the anxiety building in her chest. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Tomorrow. Tomorrow Cain would claim her.
And everyone seemed to think it would be the worst claiming yet.
She was standing by the rose garden, enjoying the scent of flowers, when she felt it again.
Eyes. Watching.
But this time..this time it felt different. Not threatening. Almost...protective?
Eve turned slowly, scanning the treeline beyond the garden.
There.
Just for a moment, she saw a figure. Tall, dark-haired, watching from the shadows.
Then he was gone...melted back into the darkness so quickly she almost thought she’d imagined it.
"Did you see that?" Eve asked the brothers urgently. "In the trees. Someone was there."
All three brothers immediately went on alert, their eyes scanning the treeline, their bodies positioned protectively around Eve.
"I don’t see anyone," Damian said, his voice tight.
"I don’t smell anyone either," Damon added. "No scent, no tracks. Are you sure you saw..."
"I saw someone," Eve insisted. "Tall. Dark hair. Just standing there watching. Then he vanished."
"He?" Silas asked sharply. "You could tell it was male?"
"Yes," Eve said. "And...this is going to sound crazy, but....he felt familiar. Like I should know him."
The brothers exchanged worried glances.
"We’re going back inside," Damian decided. "Right now. And I’m calling an emergency pack meeting. If someone’s watching the estate, if someone’s getting close enough that Eve can see them...we need to find out who and why."
They hurried her back inside, all three brothers on high alert now.
But Eve couldn’t stop thinking about the figure in the trees.
About the way he’d watched her...not with malice, but with something else. Something that felt almost like...
Sadness?
Regret?
Recognition?
Who was he?
And why did she feel like she should know him?

OUTSIDE THE ESTATE
The figure stood in the same spot Eve had seen him, knowing the brothers would find nothing. He’d long ago mastered the art of hiding his presence, of moving without leaving tracks or scent.
But he’d let her see him. Just for a moment. Let her catch a glimpse.
Because it was almost time.
Time to reveal himself. Time to teach her. Time to prepare her for what was coming.
The ruby had been glowing for three days now. Which meant her enemies knew. Which meant they were coming. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
And Eve wasn’t ready. Didn’t know how to use her powers. Didn’t understand what she was truly capable of.
He needed to change that. Soon.
But first....she needed to complete her bond with the wolves. Needed to survive the final claiming. Needed to be stable and strong before he dropped the truth on her.
One more day. He’d give her one more day to rest, to heal, to prepare for Cain.
Then, after the final wolf had claimed her, after the bond was complete....
Then he’d step out of the shadows.
Then he’d reveal who he was.
Then the real work would begin.
Because war was coming to the Seraphim Court.
And Eve needed to be ready to fight.
The figure disappeared back into the darkness, leaving no trace he’d ever been there.
Watching, Waiting and Protecting.
As he’d been doing for twenty-three years.
As he’d continue doing until she was strong enough to protect herself.
