Chapter 62: Chapter 61: UNEXPECTED PATIENCE

The emergency meeting took place in Damian’s study....all three brothers, Eve, and Elder Markov who’d been called immediately after Cain’s unexpected restraint.

"Explain it to me again Alpha Silas," Markov said, his ancient eyes sharp with interest. "Your wolf communicated with you directly? Told you he was choosing to wait?"

"Yes," Silas confirmed. "I could hear him clearly.....clearer than I ever have before. He said, ’Our mate isn’t strong enough yet. I wait.’ Not a request. A decision. He’s decided to delay the claiming until Eve is ready."

Markov leaned back in his chair, stroking his beard thoughtfully. "In three hundred years, I’ve never heard of an alpha wolf showing this level of control during the claiming period. Once one wolf claims the mate, the others become desperate, feral, barely able to maintain human form. But Alpha Cain is....he’s choosing patience. That’s not animal instinct."

"Cain has always been different," Silas said quietly. "More aware than Kane or Rex. More....present. I’ve never been able to fully separate myself from him the way Damian and Damon can from their wolves. It’s like we’re always sharing space in my head."

"That level of integration is rare," Markov observed. "Usually it indicates a very old bloodline, very pure alpha genetics. Which tracks....you three come from one of the oldest wolf families in North America."

"But what does it mean for Eve?" Damian asked, getting to the practical matter. "If Cain won’t claim her until she’s ’strong enough,’ how do we define that? What is he waiting for?"

"I can ask him," Silas said, closing his eyes to focus inward. The room fell silent as he communicated with his wolf.

When he opened his eyes, his expression was troubled. "He says....she needs to master her powers. Control her pheromones completely. Access her succubus abilities fully. And...." He paused. "And she needs to stop being afraid of him."

"I’m not afraid of him," Eve protested.

"Yes, you are," Silas looked at her and smiled gently. "And you should be. Cain is terrifying. But he won’t claim you while you’re afraid because....his words.....’dominance means nothing if submission is born from fear. She must choose to submit. Must want to submit. Or the claiming is hollow.’"

Markov whistled low. "Your wolf is a philosopher. I’m impressed."

"So he wants me to want it?" Eve asked, trying to understand. "To want to be dominated?"

"Not just accept it or endure it," Silas clarified. "Actually want it. Crave it. Seek it out. He wants your submission to be a gift you give freely, not something he takes by force."

"That’s..." Eve struggled for words. "That’s actually kind of Terrifying,."

"It’s also going to take time," Damon pointed out. "Eve’s only been transformed for a week. Her powers are barely manifesting. She can’t fully control her pheromones yet. And asking her to stop being afraid of the most dominant wolf we know? That could take weeks. Months even."

"Then it takes however long it takes," Damian said firmly. "Cain is giving us a gift—time. Time to prepare Eve properly. Time to let her grow into her power. We use that time wisely."

"I need to understand something," Eve said, looking at Silas. "Cain said I need to master my powers. But I don’t even know what powers I have. I’m succubus, yes. I can feed on sexual energy. But what else? What am I supposed to be mastering?"

"That," Markov said, "is an excellent question. And one I’m not fully qualified to answer. Succubus abilities vary widely depending on bloodline and power level. Royal succubi like yourself have access to abilities most succubi never develop."

"Such as?" Eve pressed.

"Enthrallment....the ability to captivate and control others through desire," Markov listed. "Glamour....changing your appearance at will. Energy manipulation....not just feeding, but directing and using sexual energy as a weapon or tool. Dreamwalking....entering others’ dreams. And for the most powerful royal succubi...." He paused dramatically. "Reality warping through desire. Making fantasies real, at least temporarily."

Eve stared at him. "That’s....that’s impossible. I can’t do any of those things."

"Not yet," Markov agreed. "But you will. The question is how to train you when none of us are succubi ourselves."

"There has to be someone," Damian said. "Someone in the supernatural community who understands succubus powers. Who can teach her."

"The only experts on succubus abilities are other succubi," Markov said. "And most succubi are solitary creatures. They don’t form communities or share knowledge. The only organized succubus society is...."

"The Seraphim Court," Eve finished. "Which I can’t exactly visit since my parents’ enemies might still be there wanting me dead."

"Catch-22," Damon muttered.

"Not necessarily," Markov said thoughtfully. "There are texts. Ancient grimoires written by succubi queens documenting their powers and how to develop them. Very rare, very valuable. But....they exist. I might be able to locate some through my contacts."

"Do it," Damian ordered. "Whatever it costs. We need those texts."

"In the meantime," Silas said, "we work with what we know. Eve....show us your pheromone control. Show us how much you’ve improved."

Eve stood, focusing on her inner energy. Over the past week, she’d been practicing....learning to pull her pheromones back, to contain them instead of broadcasting to everyone around her.

She concentrated, imagining pulling all that energy inward, condensing it, keeping it locked inside her own body.

The faint shimmer around her skin faded. The subtle scent of desire that usually permeated the air when she was present disappeared.

"Good," Markov said with approval. "You’ve learned to suppress it completely. Now....can you amplify it at will? Turn it up instead of down?"

Eve had never tried that. She focused again, this time imagining releasing all that contained energy at once.

The effect was immediate and dramatic.

Her pheromones flooded the room like a tidal wave. All four men gasped, their eyes dilating, their bodies responding instantly to the overwhelming desire she was broadcasting.

"Fuck," Damon breathed, his hands gripping the arms of his chair. "That’s....that’s intense."

"Dial it back," Damian said, his voice strained. "Before we all lose control."

Eve quickly pulled the pheromones back in, containing them again. The men sagged with relief.

"Impressive," Markov said, though his voice was slightly hoarse. "You’ve learned suppression and amplification in just a week. That’s remarkable progress."

"What else should I be practicing?" Eve asked.

"Start small," Markov advised. "Try to make objects move with your desire. Focus on something you want, channel that desire into will, and see if you can affect physical reality. It won’t be much at first.....maybe a pencil rolling across a desk. But it’s a start."

"And the enthrallment?" Eve asked.

"Don’t practice that on anyone you actually care about," Markov warned. "Enthrallment can be dangerous. Once someone is enthralled to you, breaking that connection is difficult. And if you enthrall someone accidentally.....say, a pack member.....it could cause serious problems."

"So I practice on....what? Strangers?" Eve asked.

"Or willing volunteers who understand the risks," Markov suggested, glancing at the brothers. "Though I suspect your mates would object to you enthralling other men." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"Damn right we would," Damon said flatly.

"Then we find female volunteers," Damian decided. "Female pack members who Eve can practice on safely. Mrs. Blackwood might be willing."

"I’ll ask her," Silas said.

"In the meantime," Markov said, standing, "I’ll begin searching for those grimoires. It may take time....they’re rare and expensive. But I have contacts in the right circles."

"Thank you," Eve said sincerely.

After Markov left, the four of them sat in contemplative silence.

"So we have time," Damon said finally. "Time to train. Time to prepare. Time before Cain claims her."

"Yes," Silas confirmed. "However long she needs. Cain will wait."

"I still can’t believe he’s showing this much control," Damian said, shaking his head. "It goes against everything we know about wolf behavior during claiming."

"Maybe," Eve said quietly, "Cain isn’t just a wolf. Maybe that integration Silas talked about....that sharing of space....means Cain has more of Silas’s intelligence and strategic thinking than normal wolves do. Maybe he’s something more than pure animal instinct."

"That’s....possible," Silas re[lied. "I’ve always felt like Cain was more aware than he should be. More calculating. Like he was learning from every experience, every observation. Not just reacting on instinct."

"Then we’re dealing with an intelligent, strategic wolf who’s decided his mate needs to be strong before he claims her," Damian summarized. "And who’s willing to wait.....indefinitely.....for that to happen."

"Which means," Damon added, "we focus on making her strong. On helping her master her abilities. On building her confidence and power until she’s everything Cain believes she can be."

"And when she is?" Eve asked. "When Cain finally decides I’m ready?"

"Then he’ll claim you," Silas said simply. "Completely. Absolutely. With all the dominance and control he’s been holding back. It will be...." He struggled for words. "Overwhelming. Intense. Everything Kane and Rex were, but more.

Because you’ll be strong enough to survive it. To endure it. To submit to it willingly."

Eve shivered despite the warm room. That future claiming loomed ahead of her....unknown, unpredictable, guaranteed to be the most intense experience yet.

But at least now she had time to prepare.

Time to grow stronger.

Time to become the mate Cain needed her to be.

"I’m hungry," Eve said, checking her bracelet. Yellow again.....barely four hours since her last feeding. "Is it just me, or am I needing to feed more frequently?"

"You are," Silas confirmed, "You were feeding every six to eight hours initially. Now it’s every four to five hours. Your hunger is intensifying."

"Why?" Eve asked

.

"Probably because your powers are developing," Damian theorized. "Using magic burns energy. The more you practice, the more you use your abilities, the more energy you need to sustain them."

"So as I get stronger, I get hungrier?" Eve asked.

"Seems that way," Damon said. "Which means more frequent feeding. Are we complaining? No. Definitely not complaining."

Despite everything, Eve smiled. "So....who’s feeding me this time?" freēwebnovel.com

"All of us," Silas decided. "We have time now. No rush, no deadline. We can take our time. Make it good for you."

They moved to the bedroom, and for the next two hours, Eve lost herself in pleasure. All three brothers taking turns, then together, then alternating in different combinations. Gentle and loving, then rough and demanding, then everything in between.

By the time they finished, Eve was glowing so brightly the room looked like it was filled with sunshine. Her bracelet showed solid green. Which means that her body was thoroughly satisfied.

And for the first time since her transformation, she felt....hopeful.

She had time now. Time to learn, to grow, to master her abilities.

Time to become strong enough that when Cain finally claimed her, she’d survive it.

More than survive....she’d embrace it.

Because Cain was right. She needed to choose to submit. Needed to want it.

And that meant becoming powerful enough that submission was a choice, not a necessity.

And when Cain finally decided she was ready...

She’d show him just how strong his mate had become.

OUTSIDE THE ESTATE

The figure watched the lights in the bedroom window finally dim as the four of them settled into sleep.

He’d felt the surge of power when Eve had amplified her pheromones earlier. Had felt the smaller pulses as she practiced her abilities.

She was learning. Growing stronger. Faster than he’d anticipated.

Good.

She’d need that strength soon. The scout from Seraphim Court had been circling territories for two days now, gathering information, reporting back.

It was only a matter of time before they made their move.

But he’d continue to watch. Continue to protect from the shadows.

Just a little longer. Just until she was strong enough to face what was coming.

Then....then he’d reveal himself.

Then the real training would begin.

The figure melted back into the darkness, patient as ever.

Twenty-three years he’d been waiting. He could wait a few more days.

But not much longer.

The ruby was blazing now, visible even from here if you knew where to look.

Her enemies knew she existed. Knew she was alive.

And soon....very soon....they’d come for her.

He just hoped she’d be ready when they did.
