Chapter 98: Chapter 90: Desire to Become Stronger

"What do you all think? Why would the mysterious expert suddenly strike and slaughter everyone here?"

Li Yu asked, gazing at the ruins of the Dragon Heaven Building before them.

The handful of Tier Four Sequencers standing behind him exchanged glances. One of them stepped forward and asked, a hint of confusion in his voice,

"The Spiritual Sect is a blight that anyone would be justified in wiping out. Is there a problem with the mysterious expert’s actions this time?"

"If the Spiritual Sect hadn’t hidden themselves so well—right under the Dragon Heaven Building, of all places—we would have come and razed this place to the ground ourselves if we’d found out sooner!"

Hearing this, another person spoke up directly.

"Yeah, I agree. I think the mysterious expert’s actions actually took a lot of pressure off us. I don’t see any problem with it."

"Besides... isn’t the mysterious expert’s power a little too terrifying?"

As he finished speaking, the others all looked at the ruins and couldn’t help but nod in agreement.

Setting aside whether they could have stormed the Spiritual Sect’s headquarters and fought their way in and out, just causing a commotion of this magnitude was something many Tier Four Sequencers were completely incapable of.

Let alone confronting the Space High Priest, a Tier Four Peak.

The organization had sent many people to search the surrounding area, but they couldn’t find the Space High Priest’s body or any trace of his escape. As a result, they couldn’t confirm whether he was dead or alive.

However, most of the people present had seen the blurry video of the fight between the mysterious expert and the Space High Priest.

They had to admit, the mysterious expert’s power had reached a truly terrifying level.

"I’m not saying there’s a problem with what the mysterious expert did."

Li Yu just shook his head. He paced back and forth for a moment before continuing, "I’m just curious how he discovered this was the Spiritual Sect’s main base."

"He must have discovered something to make him strike so suddenly. It’s not like he was in a bad mood and decided to kill some people for fun, right?"

Hearing Li Yu’s words, the Tier Four Sequencer who had spoken earlier fell silent, seemingly mulling over the implications. The others began to murmur amongst themselves. Then, Liu Chang, who had been standing silently to the side, suddenly spoke up.

"I might know what happened."

Ever since Liu Chang had discovered traces of a battle and spatial fluctuations near the Sword Hall, he had been wondering who the two warring parties were.

Now, seeing the scene at the Dragon Heaven Building, he suddenly felt as if the pieces were falling into place in his mind.

Liu Chang’s voice was calm and firm, instantly drawing the gazes of the other Sequencers, including Li Yu.

Although Liu Chang rarely paid attention to the organization’s internal affairs, everyone knew his personality. He wasn’t one to make baseless claims, especially when it came to the mysterious expert.

Who in the organization didn’t know that the mysterious expert had become Liu Chang’s newest target for a challenge? No one was more interested in the mysterious expert than he was.

Liu Chang paused.

Then, he recounted everything he had discovered near the Sword Hall.

He suspected the Spiritual Sect might have been organizing another attack, only to run into the mysterious expert, which led to this outcome.

Although what Liu Chang said wasn’t necessarily correct, it was indeed their only plausible theory at the moment, so everyone nodded in agreement.

"If that’s the case, let’s proceed with that assessment for now."

Li Yu nodded. The organization’s official stance on the mysterious expert had always been tentatively friendly, so he wasn’t willing to spend too much time investigating him.

After all, there were things about the Dragon Heaven Building incident that were more worthy of investigation than the mysterious expert.

"Those hard drives dug out from the ruins—have they been decrypted? Is there any important information on them?"

Li Yu asked, glancing at the slowly rising sun.

"Not yet. The technicians said this encryption will take a little more time to fully crack."

The person who answered spoke for a moment, then paused before continuing.

"However, they’ve reportedly decrypted a portion of it. The drives seem to contain information on the various High Priests, as well as communication backups with the Vice Bishop."

"This is crucial information. If we can get specifics on the Catastrophe High Priest, it would be immensely helpful for our goal of completely eradicating the Spiritual Sect’s High Priests."

"And... we can also analyze their communications with the Vice Bishop to figure out what they’re planning next."

Hearing this news, Li Yu’s eyes visibly brightened. He continued,

"Alright, let’s head back for a meeting. Have the logistics team come and do a basic cleanup of these ruins."

"Also, Liu Chang, keep a close eye on Su Xing and Su Yu. If anything seems off, contact headquarters immediately. We can’t let the Spiritual Sect get desperate and lash out."

After these simple arrangements were made, the Tier Four Sequencers who had gathered here dispersed.

Only Liu Chang remained, standing alone. His eyes were fixed on the ruins of the Dragon Heaven Building, his face unable to conceal a fervent battle-lust.

’From the hospital attack to the Dragon Heaven Building... How long has it even been?’

’Has the mysterious expert really gotten this strong already?’

Every time he thought about it, the only answer was the THUMP-THUMP of his own heart, like the beating of a war drum.

He never shied away from a powerful opponent. The stronger the mysterious expert was, the more excited Liu Chang became, and the more he yearned to fight him.

After a long moment, Liu Chang’s heart gradually calmed. He tore open a rift in space and left the scene.

「...」

「6:00 AM.」

Su Xing returned to the Sword Hall.

As soon as he arrived, he ducked into the bathroom for a quick shower.

As the warm water washed over his battle-weary body, Su Xing was suddenly struck by the feeling, ’This is what it means to be alive.’

He closed his eyes, letting the hot water run over him until all the crusted blood was washed away, flowing down the drain. Only then did Su Xing slowly open his eyes. He let out a heavy sigh and muttered,

"It’s finally fucking over."

He stepped out of the bathroom naked, gave himself a quick towel-down, and climbed directly into bed.

Su Xing stared at the ceiling.

His mind, however, couldn’t stop replaying everything that had happened, from meeting Wen to slaughtering his way through the Dragon Heaven Building, fighting the Space High Priest, and finally escaping from a Tier Five.

A sense of urgency instantly dispelled the post-shower lethargy. He rolled over and sat bolt upright in bed, his voice tight.

"’My current strength isn’t nearly enough.’"

Because of the system’s existence, Su Xing was confident that the next time he faced that man, even if he couldn’t kill him, he could at least hold his own.

But Su Xing also knew that he had to carefully consider his upgrade path.

After his [Spirit Sword] reached Tier Four, the number of Sword Dao Points needed for each level-up was enormous—a full thirty points. It would take almost four days to advance just one level.

Su Xing couldn’t guarantee that nothing would happen in those four days.

He had no desire to die with unspent Sword Dao Points.

If Su Xing wanted to reach Tier Five, he would need at least one hundred and eighty Sword Dao Points.

Such a huge point requirement clearly didn’t fit his current need for a rapid power increase.

It also went against his established upgrade philosophy of maintaining a balance between his Sword Techniques, stances, and breathing rhythms.

Shaking off the shock of being defeated by that man in two punches, Su Xing suddenly felt that while the man was indeed stronger, he wasn’t so overwhelmingly powerful that reaching Tier Five was the only way to beat him.

Otherwise, there was no way Su Xing could have taken two of his punches and still escaped.

What had shocked Su Xing the most before was that his Black Sword had been shattered by a single punch!

But on closer reflection, it wasn’t that big of a deal. He could summon his Black Sword an unlimited number of times. The biggest gap between them had to be the difference in raw power.

Su Xing analyzed the power gap between himself and his opponent and finally came to a conclusion:

There was indeed a gap between them, but it wasn’t an insurmountable one.

’I still have three Tier Two Sword Skills. If I raise them all to Tier Three, my sword skills and my physical body will both get a huge boost.’

’I’m confident I could fight him to a draw.’

’And if I can raise all my Tier Three Sword Skills to Tier Four, the tables might completely turn!’

’By then...’

Su Xing clenched his fists, his eyes filled with an insatiable hunger for more power!
