Chapter 99: Chapter 91: Wife and Daughter

Ningshui City.

It was a city near Cang City.

The two cities were close; the drive via the national highway took only two hours. As a result, traffic between them was heavy, and seeing people from Cang City here was nothing out of the ordinary.

In a school district apartment in Ningshui City,

lived a family of three from Cang City.

The man’s features were plain, but he was tall and powerfully built, with dark skin. One look was all it took to know he was the kind of virile man who could truly satisfy a woman.

But this same man was standing at the stove wearing a pink apron, holding a salt container in one hand and a ladle in the other, tasting the preserved egg and pork congee he’d just made.

Not far from him, a mother and daughter sat at the dining table.

The woman’s face was flushed as she gazed adoringly at the cooking man. He wasn’t handsome, but he possessed a primitive charm she found irresistible, one she lost herself in day and night.

As for the daughter, she was simply hungry, constantly muttering, "Daddy, when will it be ready?"

"Patience, patience. It’s coming right now."

With a gentle smile, the man carried the steaming congee to the table. He took a large ladle, filled a bowl to the brim, blew on it lightly, and then placed it in front of his daughter, saying,

"Be careful, it’s hot. Don’t come crying to me if you burn your mouth."

"I know, Daddy! I can handle hot food!"

The daughter picked up a small spoon and began to eat, bite by bite. Her little eyes seemed to light up as she asked curiously,

"Why is Daddy’s food so yummy, but Mommy’s is..."

As she spoke, the girl stuck out her tongue, making the man burst into hearty laughter.

But he’d barely laughed twice before he felt the woman pinch the flesh of his waist. He didn’t feel a thing, but the woman’s manicured nail snapped. She looked at her finger in surprise and exclaimed,

"Fan, I think you’ve gotten even stronger."

Hearing this, the man called Fan sat down beside the woman, wrapped an arm around her waist, and brought his lips close to her earlobe, whispering,

"After last night, you still don’t know how strong I am?"

"What... what are you talking about? Xiao Han is right here."

A blush crept up the woman’s face, and she seemed a bit flustered. Just as the man was about to say more, his phone suddenly rang. He sighed, stood up from beside her, and said,

"You two eat first. I need to take this call."

The man took his phone and walked toward one of the rooms. He didn’t stop until he reached the window, where he leaned against the frame, gazing down at the pedestrians passing by below as he answered the call.

"Hello?"

"It’s me. Angry."

Hearing the other person state their name so directly, the man’s pupils contracted. As if not wanting his family to overhear, he instinctively lowered his voice and asked,

"Vice Bishop, why the sudden call? Did something happen?"

"Catastrophe, something has indeed happened."

The Angry Vice Bishop’s voice was filled with uncontrollable fury.

"Space is dead! Some mysterious expert forced their way into the Dragon Heaven Building and killed him!"

The Catastrophe High Priest covered the phone’s microphone and sighed slowly. His gaze drifted to the mother and daughter eating outside the room, his mind flashing through everything he had experienced over the years since joining the Spiritual Sect.

He had desperately clawed his way up, achieving one great success after another, killing countless people. He had finally left the countless others who joined the Spiritual Sect at the same time far behind, and in doing so, had developed his uniquely arrogant personality.

All he wanted was for his daughter and his wife to live better lives.

He wanted to send the two most important people in his life to the Spirit Realm, to enjoy the beautiful world described by Him—that ideal world without conflict, exploitation, or oppression.

At this thought, he uncovered the microphone and asked, "Vice Bishop, what do you need me to do?"

"Simple. Help me find this mysterious expert, and then... kill him!!!"

The furious voice boomed through the phone, then continued, "In any case, come out for a bit. I have two things to give you. I’m by the river not far from your place right now."

"Yes."

Catastrophe could faintly see the Vice Bishop by the river through the window. He hung up, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.

Suddenly, his daughter’s happy voice called out from behind him, "Daddy, stop talking on the phone! If you don’t come drink it, the congee will get cold!"

...

"Goodbye, Coach Su."

"Mm, goodbye, students."

The last time Yu teased Coach Su, he was punished with one hundred sword swings. Today in class, he messed up in all sorts of ways again, which led to him being punished for almost the entire session.

This incident showed the new students what Coach Su was capable of, and they all dropped their usual grins and giggles. For some of the older students, it was a taste of familiar medicine.

So now, upon hearing Coach Su announce the end of class, the new students, just like the old ones, flowed out of the Sword Hall like water.

Except for a few particularly dedicated students who chose to stay for an extra hour or two of practice, everyone else vanished in the blink of an eye.

After even those who stayed behind for extra practice had finished, Su Xing finally ended his workday. He put his sword away and was about to head back to his room when,

Su Yu and Shen Ruyun suddenly walked into the Sword Hall from outside. Seeing Su Xing in the training hall, they both greeted him. Su Xing knew they had gone to a meeting. After greeting them back, he headed straight for his room.

"Bro, be careful recently."

Su Yu’s voice suddenly sounded in Su Xing’s ear. Su Xing pretended not to have heard anything. He walked to his door, grabbed the handle, twisted it open, and went inside. Sitting on his bed, he finally took out his phone and asked,

"What’s going on?"

"The organization recovered some information from the Dragon Heaven Building."

"This information contains details on the Spiritual Sect’s last Catastrophe High Priest. The organization is working hard to decrypt it now. Once they succeed, there will probably be a new operation."

Su Yu’s voice came through again after a moment. "In a little while, if there’s any news, I’ll let you know, Bro."

"Okay."

Su Xing replied. Just as he was about to order some dinner, a knock suddenly sounded at his door.

This puzzled him.

Since arriving at the Sword Hall, it seemed no one had ever knocked on his door. Su Xing climbed off the bed and asked,

"Who is it?"

The person outside paused, then said, "It’s me!"

The voice was clear and crisp.

Su Xing recognized it as Lu Anning’s immediately.

But as if afraid he wouldn’t recognize her voice, Lu Anning quickly added,

"I’m Lu Anning."

Then, with a CLICK, the door was pushed open. Su Xing stood in the doorway, looking at Lu Anning with a puzzled expression.

"Lu, do you need something?"
