Chapter 90: Chapter 86: 4 AM
Dragon Heaven Building.
On the staircase between the first and second floors.
Su Xing walked up alone, holding a Black Sword that dragged on the ground, leaving a stark gash in its wake.
His black windbreaker was spattered with blood, dark red spots that gave off a coppery stench, lending him a chilling air.
This was, indeed, the most people he had ever killed at once. Blood and gore were everywhere, as if these things, normally unseen, had become the building’s true theme.
But Su Xing walked toward the second floor, step by step, his heart utterly unmoved.
As for the man following behind him, Su Xing had noticed him long ago.
But Su Xing wasn’t a maniac who slaughtered the innocent. One glance told him the man was an ordinary person with no connection to the Spiritual Sect. Since he posed no threat, Su Xing naturally wouldn’t kill him.
Su Xing reached the top of the stairs. He looked at the still-undisturbed iron door before him and kicked out in a flash!
...
The second floor of the Dragon Heaven Building was a workspace. The view was filled with rows of glass-partitioned offices, but they were now being used as a site for a Spiritual Sect ritual.
The workstations were filled with kneeling people dressed as Spiritualist Followers. They seemed completely oblivious to the commotion on the first floor, their faces etched with absolute piety. One by one, they kowtowed toward a man in the center, murmuring something under their breath like a Buddhist chant.
Transparent energy floated around the man standing in the center, holding a book aloft in midair.
He held a staff-like object and circled it around the book, constantly speaking in a language Su Xing couldn’t understand.
As the ritual seemingly reached a critical point, the man’s movements grew more exaggerated, his emotions more fervent.
As the man’s tone grew more agitated, the kneeling Spiritualist Followers became even more devout. Hundreds of them chanted in unison, their volume and frequency nearly identical. Their pious voices merged into a massive wave of sound, so powerful it seemed to make the very glass tremble.
"It’s almost time."
Seeing that everyone had entered the proper state, the man cracked a smile. ’Time for the final step,’ he thought.
Just as the man was about to begin the final stage of the ritual—
BOOM!
With a deafening crash, the iron door separating the first and second floors suddenly burst open, sending shards of metal—as if torn apart by a blade—flying outward.
They carved arcs through the air before plunging into the glass-partitioned offices, instantly killing many of the pious followers!
The other followers were stunned for a moment.
Then, they were violently jolted out of their ritualistic state.
A wave of panicked screams erupted across the second floor of the Dragon Heaven Building. People scrambled from their workstations, trying to flee the terrifying scene.
But they suddenly discovered,
The only exit was blocked by a man with a sword, his face hidden by a hat.
To the accompaniment of screams, Su Xing walked into the second floor of the Dragon Heaven Building, step by step, under the gaze of all.
He glanced at the countless people staring at him—ordinary people and Sequencers among them. Su Xing frowned, his gaze finally settling on the man standing in the very center.
Su Xing had never seen him before,
But Su Xing recognized the soul floating beside him.
It was the source of the Hypnosis Mark within Su Xing’s own body—the very same Assistant Priest who had once been with Liu Shiyu.
In that instant, Su Xing understood the true purpose of the ritual. ’So they’re using hypnosis to make these Spiritualist Followers even more devout,’ he realized.
The moment Li Kong saw Su Xing, he immediately took a step back.
Although Su Xing’s face was hidden by his hat, the aura of the "mark" emanating from his body was unmistakable.
Having spent so much time with the Assistant Priest, he was as familiar with the "Hypnosis" Sequence as he was with his own. This allowed him to recognize Su Xing’s true identity instantly.
Even though Su Xing emanated no aura, the mere recognition of him made Li Kong feel dizzy.
Li Kong felt cold sweat bead all over his body. His heart pounded—THUMP, THUMP, THUMP—as if urging him to flee for his life!
In Li Kong’s estimation, Su Xing was no simple man. Now that Su Xing had come for him personally, a deep-seated fear rose from his subconscious.
If not for the many followers present, Li Kong probably would have turned and fled like a cornered rat.
But the Assistant Priest’s soul beside him felt the complete opposite; he was overjoyed!
He had been racking his brains for a way to deal with Su Xing, but Li Kong had been too much of a coward to make a move. He never expected Su Xing to deliver himself right to their doorstep.
How could he not be ecstatic?
The Assistant Priest’s mouth twisted into a massive, sickle-like grin.
In his mind, they had already captured Su Xing and perfectly completed the mission assigned by the High Priests. For this, the great lord would personally restore his physical body.
At this thought, he could no longer suppress his laughter and burst out into a manic roar.
His arrogant laughter echoed through the space. However, since he existed through Li Kong’s Sequence, only other Sequencers could hear it. Most of the ordinary people just continued to stare in terror at the sudden appearance of Su Xing.
"It is now 3:54 AM. There are six minutes until four o’clock."
Su Xing stood his ground, slowly pulling a phone from his pocket with his left hand. The screen’s white glow illuminated his shadowed face under the black hat as his icy voice rang out, clear for all to hear.
"In these six minutes, anyone without Sequence energy may leave."
"After six minutes, everyone who remains here... will die!!!"
As Su Xing’s words fell, many of the ordinary people snapped out of their "hypnosis." They let out cries of alarm and began stampeding toward the exit.
Of course, some ordinary people, confident in their status as Spiritualist Followers, stared at Su Xing as if he were a madman—or the punchline to a cosmic joke.
’With so many Sequencers here, how could one man possibly kill them all?’
’Besides... there’s a Priest here! He has the terrifying power of a third-rank Sequencer!’
’If the Soul Priest hadn’t come to perform a ritual today, people like us would never even get to see someone of the Priest rank.’ At this thought, these people grew even more settled and composed.
It was only after the first wave of ordinary people had left that the Black Sword in the man’s hand suddenly flashed with white light. He then swung it directly at a nearby load-bearing column!
BOOM!!!
Accompanied by a tremendous crash and violent shaking, Su Xing sliced a load-bearing column clean in two with a single strike, right before everyone’s horrified eyes.
More than half of the ceiling instantly collapsed. Countless pieces of rubble, glass, and other debris from the floor above rained down, painting a terrifying picture of the building’s imminent collapse.
If it weren’t the dead of night, with no one else in the building besides those on this floor, Su Xing’s single strike would have caused countless deaths!
At first, these people were merely stunned, but then they descended into absolute panic!
